The opportunity:

We are seeking an enthusiastic PR and Social Media Officer to support our external communications, thought leadership initiatives, and events programme, with a particular focus on communicating complex financial and investment-led ideas in a clear, engaging way.

The role will be responsible for executing PR and social media strategies that elevate Better Society Capital's reputation, amplify our thought leadership, and create meaningful engagement with our diverse stakeholder ecosystem, including investors, policymakers, financial institutions, and impact-focused organisations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who already has a grounding in finance or financial services communications and is looking to develop specialist expertise within the impact investing sector.

What you will do:

PR Support & Content Creation

• Support the execution of PR strategies and campaigns under senior management guidance

• Help translate technical financial concepts into accessible narratives for non-specialist audiences, while maintaining accuracy and credibility

• Draft press releases, media statements, and thought leadership content relating to investment activity, market development, and financial policy, for review and approval

• Research industry trends across financial services, impact investing, and public policy, identifying credible story opportunities

• Monitor media coverage and compile regular media reports and analysis

• Support communications around investment announcements, fund performance, market data, and research outputs

• Assist with crisis communications planning and response activities

Social Media Management & Content Creation

• Execute daily social media activities across all platforms (LinkedIn and Bluesky)

• Create engaging social media content including graphics, videos, and written posts

• Manage social media calendars and scheduling, ensuring consistent brand voice and messaging

• Monitor social media performance, compile analytics reports, and suggest optimisation strategies

• Stay current with social media trends and platform updates, making recommendations for new approaches

Administrative & Operational Support

• Maintain communications databases and contact management systems

• Coordinate with design and external agencies on communications materials

• Assist with compliance and regulatory requirements for communications

What you will bring:

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

• 1–2 years’ experience in PR, social media, or communications roles within a finance-adjacent environment (e.g. agency clients in financial services, impact investing, asset management, banking, or in-house roles)

• Strong writing and editing skills across multiple formats and platforms, with the ability to communicate financial or investment-related content clearly

• Familiarity with trade & national media landscape in the UK

• Experience creating content for professional and stakeholder audiences, including investors, policymakers, or sector specialists

• Familiarity with the UK investment, charity, or social enterprise landscape

• Confidence working with data, evidence, and financial information to support communications outputs

• Experience with social media management, content creation, and analytics

Desirable:

• Educational background in finance, economics, business, or a related subject, or equivalent professional experience

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Supporter Retention and Experience Officer to join our successful Supporter Retention and Experience Unit. Working across a range of offline and online media channels, you will play a key role in supporting the team on retention and supporter experience campaigns to deliver income and build strong loyalty communications to existing supporters, helping to raise £40 million a year.

The Digital Communications Officer reports to the Digital Communications Manager. The post holder plays a key supporting role in communicating the work of the Trust – including its research, policy priorities, programmes, and alumni stories – to external audiences. This is a newly created role, introduced to expand our digital communications capacity and significantly grow our digital presence.

The Digital Communications Officer will work alongside the Digital Communications Manager to create, coordinate and maintain our digital output. They will need to have flexible skills across both web and social, and a strong ability to create eye-catching visuals and produce high-quality video content. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and proactive individual to create engaging content, ramp up production of cross-platform video content, and introduce new digital innovations as the Trust seeks to explore new avenues to grow its reach.

Main duties

Social Media

• Take a lead on content creation for the Trust’s social media, writing crisp copy and creating engaging visuals suitable for a range of audiences across LinkedIn, X, Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

• Co-lead on the production of cross-platform video content, with a particular focus on TikTok and Instagram. Work with the Digital Communications Manager, Senior Programmes Officer: Marketing and Communications, and other colleagues to generate content ideas relevant to the Trust’s key areas of activity. Take an active, hands-on role in the planning, filming, and editing of innovative video content.

• Support with the day-to-day management of various socials platforms, including monitoring user engagement and answering inbox queries.

• Alongside the Digital Communications Manager, liaise with research colleagues to convert research outputs into engaging socials content, and work with colleagues in the programmes team to create impactful socials content promoting their work.

• Monitor social media engagement and activity more broadly, ensuring team members are aware of key developments and identifying examples of best practice in the sector.

• Advise and support all colleagues as necessary with their use of social media.

Website and Digital Communications

• Support with the management of the Sutton Trust website, and associated microsites, and the COSMO website, ensuring they are updated and remain responsive to the needs of our different audiences of students, teachers, policymakers, academics, funders and media.

• Work with external web developers to drive forward improvements to the Trust’s websites, ensuring quality user experience and SEO optimisation.

• Use Google Analytics and other monitoring tools to evaluate website performance and inform improvements. Work with a digital agency to manage the Trust’s Google Ads Grant Account and shape our approach to paid search advertising.

• Support with the maintenance of a proactive and diverse programme of blog content, helping to identify potential pieces from internal and external authors.

• Develop the Trust’s regular email newsletter, including drafting high quality content.

• Support with the formatting of research outputs and the design of other digital assets (such as charts), including those related to the COSMO Study.

Other

• Work with colleagues to maintain communications and content planning grids.

• Track and assess digital engagement in detail and assist with communicating performance to team members.

• Keep abreast of digital developments, assisting the Digital Communications Manager in providing expertise to the wider organisation.

• Proactively suggest improvements to the Trust’s digital communications approach.

• Write copy as required.

• Feed into the wider work of the Research and Communications Team.

Person Specification

We welcome applications from individuals who have:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• A strong understanding of using Canva (as well as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign and/or Adobe Illustrator) to design engaging and creative graphics for social media.

• Experience of creating cross-platform video content for social media (experience producing vertical video for TikTok and/or Instagram is particularly desirable). Basic videography, photography and editing skills would be advantageous.

• Experience of using various social media platforms and creating high-quality content.

• A good knowledge of and some experience in managing a website, including basic knowledge of HTML and CSS, experience of WordPress and an understanding of Google Analytics.

• An eye for detail, and the ability to work accurately to tight deadlines.

You will be part of the Individual Giving team who is responsible for driving sustainable growth through donor engagement, stewardship and acquisition.

You will set both strategic direction and deliver hands-on activity, overseeing all fundraising streams, communications, digital platforms, and supporter engagement. About the role:

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves opening doors, building momentum and turning interest into long-term support. As Corporate Partnerships Officer, you’ll be right at the heart of our growing Fundraising team, actively identifying new corporate partners, starting meaningful conversations and shaping partnerships that genuinely add value. From first approach to signed agreement, you’ll play a key role in bringing businesses on board and inspiring them to stand alongside our work.

You’ll split your time between winning new partnerships and deepening existing ones. That means researching and targeting the right organisations, crafting and delivering engaging pitches, and managing a live pipeline of opportunities. Alongside this, you’ll steward a portfolio of corporate partners, building strong relationships with key contacts, coordinating activity, spotting opportunities to grow support and ensuring partnerships deliver real impact for both the business and Single Homeless Project.

We are looking for an exceptional, value-driven candidate who can hit the ground running as our Legal Education Officer, working closely with the Director and the rest of our small and dynamic Right to Remain team.

The person must be someone who understands the Right to Remain ethos and is prepared to bring their whole self to our organisation. Needless to say, the role requires an impeccable grasp of the asylum and immigration system and its operation on the ground, including how it impacts our community of people seeking asylum, refugees, migrants, their families, friends and allies. You will be working closely with the Director and the rest of our small and dynamic Right to Remain staff team: another Legal Education Officer based in Leeds (generally) covering the North, the Organiser based in Manchester leading our mighty These Walls Must Fall, and the Engagement Officer based in London. In particular, the post holder will be closely coordinating their work with another Legal Education Officer in Leeds. The post holder is also expected to be already embedded in the local and regional asylum and migration field, familiar with its dynamics and able to tap into their existing relationships and connections with local groups and actors.

Job description

The Capacity Development unit seeks an officer to support the implementation of the Advocacy Institute programme.The Advocacy Institute is a flagship programme of the NCDA that strengthens NCD civil society with a focus on coalition building and advocacy. It includes Seed, Accelerator and Regional tracks reflecting the different levels of readiness of alliances and their needs. The Seed track supports the establishment and strengthening of NCD civil society networks incountries/regions where these are non-existent or nascent. The Accelerator track works with established NCD alliances to spur advocacy efforts where there are windows of opportunity for specific policy change. The Regional track supports coalition building, advocacy and accountability opportunities of regional alliances. The programme supports selectedgeographies via a combination of grants, technical assistance, peer-to-peer learning, and training; the position will also support the delivery of such offerings.

The Capacity Development Officer will support the roll-out of the Seed and Accelerator tracks, currently in the last year of the Advocacy Institute third phase 2024-2026, and its work with different national alliances aiming to increase the capacity of NCD alliances to drive effective locally-owned advocacy campaigns. In 2026, the officer will also support the evaluation process for the third phase and the design and scoping of the Advocacy Institute fourth phase. 
 

Core responsibilities:

•Support the roll out of Advocacy Institute particularly the seed and accelerator tracks in their different components: grants, technical support, and trainings.

•Support the CD unit in grant management duties, including grantee communications, revision of technical and financial proposals, grant award and grantee reporting.

•Support the organisation of the Advocacy Institute trainings, webinars and events as required, includingparticipant support, administrative functions, supporting curriculum development, and evaluation.

·Support the evaluation process of the third phase of the Advocacy Institute (2024-2026).

·Support the scoping of the fourth phase of the Advocacy Institute.

·Leverage NCDA expertise providing technical assistance to alliances and facilitating networking opportunities, enable access to NCDA expertise, advocacy advice and support, and also access to a broader network of advocates who can provide peer-to-peer support.

•Support the provision of written content to promote regional and national activity through NCD Alliancecommunication channels, including social media and website.

•Support the maintenance of regular communications with national NCD alliances for advocacy and network updates.

•Support the maintenance of an updated contacts database of regional and national NCD alliances.

•Support the development of research and knowledge products as needed (e.g., civil society mappings,guides, reports, programme documentation, etc.).

•Support the maintenance of up-to-date Capacity Development content in the NCDA website.

•Handle administrative responsibilities in support of Capacity Development activities as needed.

•Support the mobilisation of regional and national NCD alliances in support of global advocacy campaigns,including Global Week for Action, and any other opportunities.

Required competencies:

·Advanced university degree in public health, international relations, public policy, or similar, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in the non-profit area.

·Demonstrated interest and understanding of global health and development; policy-oriented research and advocacy, knowledge of NCDs would be ideal, particularly on aspects related to NCD prevention (e.g., alcohol control, food policies, environmental health/air pollution) and control (e.g. access to medicines, Universal health coverage, primary health care, NcDs/HIV integration) and NCD financing. Health policy and/or public health background is preferred.

·International work experience is highly desired, as well as professional knowledge of research, advocacy, policy and/or programmes.

·Excellent organisational and strategic planning skills and ability to successfully manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

·Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in an international team environment with solid interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
