Job description

This role will support the provision of data and policy products which enable The Diana Award to:

  • Make evidence-based decisions and develop evidence-based policy

  • Develop and evaluate impactful campaigns, products and services

  • Communicate the impact of The Diana Award’s programmes in an accurate and compelling way

  • Change policy, practice and public attitude for the benefit of children, young people and their families.

The ideal candidate will enjoy managing, analysing and interpreting data in a clear and meaningful way. They will be comfortable working with colleagues across the organisation, show initiative and be able to work on various projects simultaneously.

JOB DESCRIPTION_

  • Collate, analyse and interpret data and statistics about our range of programmes and related campaigns and its impact

  • Interpret data and research papers in order to develop an understanding of the experiences of young people; which is robust and compelling enough to be used with the media and with senior decision-makers

  • Produce high quality regular reports to communicate findings for our funders

  • Support our Senior Impact and Evaluation Coordinator with drafting position statements, consultation responses and briefings to communicate the young people’s views

  • Use insight from data to support the team in driving change and improvement across all programmes

  • Produce good quality reports to disseminate findings to public and professional audiences

  • Collaborate with members of the team in the planning of delivering data and outputs in accordance with our strategic aims

PERSON SPECIFICATION_

SKILLS

  • Excellent IT skills, confident in the use of Excel and the ability to work with databases, content management systems and analysis software

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to create and implement administrative systems

  • Provide advice on research methodology across the organisation on an ad-hoc basis

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal with people at all levels

  • Literature searching, review and critical appraisal, including ability to conduct systematic searches

  • Highly numerate and skilled in collating, analysing and interpreting complex datasets

  • Ability to work unsupervised and take responsibility

  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain discretion at all times

  • Excellent attention to detail

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Master’s degree with in-depth research or equivalent proven experience in a similar role

  • Interpretation and analysis of large datasets, including data linkage

  • Experience of producing questionnaires and evaluation methods

  • Experience of presenting data in user-friendly ways

  • Finding and interpreting research literature

  • Conducting primary and secondary research projects

  • Experience of working with key groups such as young people and schools on research

 Desirable

  • Experience of producing research and analysis for the purpose of influencing policy and/or practice

  • Experience of working within a team contributing to policy change, influencing work and campaigning

  • Experience of implementation of data bases and systems

  • Clear understanding of current developments in education, safeguarding, character development and policies around young people

  • Knowledge of public and private sector sources of attainment and achievement data
