As Head of Communications, you will have overall responsibility for growing our brand profile, furthering public interest in our cause and positioning us as an influential and trusted voice on hunger across the world.

You will lead a strategic, motivated and highly impactful team that has received investment in recent years. You will be comfortable developing strategy, planning and budgeting and take a ‘hands-on’ approach as needed. You will align our media outreach, content strategy and creative output, social media and digital activity to maximise engagement, influence, and income. You will oversee our Ambassador programme, maximising opportunities to raise awareness and generate income via high profile celebrity supporters. Your team will profile our sector-leading special events and leverage strategic partnerships to raise awareness and showcase partnership impact. Our recent investment in digital mobilisation is delivering at scale, and with your help, we will continue to bring communications, fundraising and advocacy teams together to inspire action and support.

Key Responsibilities:

· Leading the development and implementation of ambitious communication strategies that will generate long-term sustainable growth in engagement and brand recognition.

· Leading a motivated, skilled and passionate team of 9 people that is driven to collaborate and maintain a high level of performance. Ensuring staff are developed, invested in and wherever possible, retained.

· Developing a brand that builds trust and authority, reflects our tone of voice, draws on audience insight and puts the voices of affected communities at the heart of our communications.

· Driving organisational understanding of our key audiences and ensure we are developing and delivering content that is responsive, authentic and engaging.

· Ensuring that our media and PR outreach achieves organisational objectives and is targeted, effective and measurable.

· Overseeing a digital engagement strategy that supports the organisation’s strategic aims, including social media, website, email and SEO strategies.

· Overseeing the implementation of our Ambassador and Influencer strategies and leading the team to raise awareness, achieve policy change and raise funds via our work with celebrity ambassadors.

· Overseeing the organisational communications strategy for emergency appeals, including leading on the development of emergency appeal protocols and external communications in relation to Action Against Hunger’s membership of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC).

· Ensuring team targets and KPIs are met, objectives are commensurate to resource, and activities are delivered on time and to a high standard.

· Setting and achieving your department’s annual plans, budgets and reforecasts; managing an annual budget of £550k+ (including salaries) and line managing four direct reports: Senior Content Manager, Senior Digital Engagement Manager, Press and OR Officer and Senior Officer for Ambassador Relations.

• Lead the delivery of our annual media and communications plan, including priority campaigns in partnership with marketing, policy and public affairs colleagues
• Oversee our busy press office, ensuring we maintain strong media relations and are achieving high impact coverage on College priorities
• Deliver proactive external communications to promote awareness and impact of RCOG programmes, projects and products
• Ensure we are effectively using our social media and digital channels to listen, engage and influence, including production of videos, podcasts and webinars, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

● Leadership and Strategy: Lead and manage a team of community organisers working in partnership with organisations across multiple locations in the UK. Develop and implement a comprehensive community organising strategy aligned with the project's goals.

● Community Engagement: Coach and support community organisers in building relationships and mobilising impacted communities, particularly those from Black and minority ethnic backgrounds, single-parent families, and households with disabled members.

● Campaign Development: Collaborate with partner organisations to design and execute impactful campaigns that address economic inequalities and advance racial justice.

● Capacity Building: Equip community members with organising and leadership skills to take collective action on local, regional, and national issues related to inequality, poverty, and problem debt.

The Knowledge Management and Learning Senior Advisor is an integral role within the Knowledge Management & Learning (KM&L) team, situated within the Programme Support and Knowledge Team (PSK) of the WaterAid UK International Programmes Department (IPD).

IPD operates in 17 African and Asian countries. PSK is a diverse and motivated group of 20+ technical specialists and advisors, passionate about bringing sustainable WASH to the world's poorest and most marginalised people. PSK leads and supports organisation-wide programme learning and knowledge management, collating and disseminating programme knowledge and facilitating knowledge exchange. The team provides technical advisory expertise and fosters and supports internal and external programme and technical partnerships and networks. The team also leads on developing normative programme documents and standards and advise and support the delivery of a programme capacity enhancement strategy. PSK collaborates with many functions across the organisation including policy, advocacy, campaigns, fundraising, communications, as well as with WaterAid partners and collaborators.

About the Role:
The Knowledge Management and Learning Senior Advisor drives the design and implementation of WaterAid's organisational programme learning and knowledge management strategy. The senior advisor leads the development of knowledge management tools, contribute to organisational processes for collating and disseminating program knowledge, and the evolution of knowledge exchange mechanisms. Additionally, lead the development of the internal programme and policy knowledge library, ensuring comprehensive access and collaborating on strategic knowledge communications.

The Senior advisor reports into the Knowledge Management and Learning Senior Manager and their key accountabilities will be:

Co-lead Programme Learning and knowledge management (approximately 50% of time)

• Co-lead the design and implementation of an organisational programme learning and knowledge management strategy (in alignment with the organisational research agenda led by GPAC and supported by PMER processes).
• Lead the development and implementation of knowledge management and learning strategies and tools to capture, organise, and disseminate programme learning within the organisation and externally
• Co-lead the development of organisational mechanisms for knowledge exchange and evolution of our approaches.
• Support and advise PSK team members to effectively document, use and share programme learning and design dissemination strategy and plans to promote thematic learning to the target audience(s).

Develop and promote effective Information Management (approximately 20%)

• Co-Lead the development of the internal programme and policy knowledge library, ensuring that it is comprehensive and easily accessible to relevant stakeholders.

Lead the development of programme guidance and standards (approximately 10%)

• Lead the process and methods to develop and maintain WaterAid's normative frameworks, standards and guidance materials for both internal and external audiences, coordinating with PSK's and GPAC's technical and policy leads. Lead an efficient yet collaborative approach that ensured these are developed built on the extensive knowledge and experience that exists across all levels of the federation.
• Support the dissemination of core normative programmatic documents and standards (frameworks, standards, guidelines, toolkits) through various platforms.

Support Programme Capacity Development (approximately 5% of time)

• Contribute to the development of the capacity strengthening strategy and ensure joined-up articulation of learning, knowledge management and capacity strengthening.
• Work with Capacity Strengthening Senior Advisor, to facilitate organisational mechanisms for knowledge exchange, learning and capacity-strengthening.

Support fundraising, external engagement, and communications (approximately 5% of time)

• Contribute to the organisation's business development efforts by supporting donor engagement, intelligence gathering, and preparation of funding proposals.
• Provide technical input to specific strategic initiatives and programme design particularly on aspects of knowledge management and programme learning.

Contribute to team processes (approximately 10% of time)

• Provide support to any other relevant processes within the remit of Knowledge Management & Learning team as required as an active member of a small team.
• Support PSK annual planning, budgeting, and reporting processes

About You:

• Proven experience in leading the design and implementation of organisational programme learning and knowledge management strategies.
• Strong knowledge management background with a track record of developing effective strategies and tools to capture, organize, and disseminate program learning.
• Experience in evolving knowledge exchange mechanisms and creating organizational mechanisms for knowledge evolution.
• Extensive experience in determining and implementing learning and knowledge sharing activities using empowering approaches.
• Ability to research, synthesise information, analyse its relevance and communicate it in accessible formats.
• Experience of designing, developing, and facilitating in-person and virtual meetings and workshops.
• Experience of developing and maintaining comprehensive and accessible knowledge libraries.
• Strong IT literacy skills, including designing and maintaining SharePoint or similar information management platforms; and using Microsoft 365 and other web based tools and platforms.
• Experience working in low and middle-income countries.
• Ability to communicate clearly and influence colleagues and peers; ability to work effectively across diverse groups and cultures.

Although not essential, we also prefer you to have:

• Working knowledge of one or more of WaterAid's working languages (French, Portuguese and Spanish).
• Experience with information and nurturing of virtual communities of practices and networks.
• Experience in planning, monitoring and evaluating programmes of work.

As Assistant Director Activism & Advocacy, you will provide strategic direction to the heads of Digital campaigning, Community Organising, Policy, Research, and Public Affairs teams.

You'll support the development of high-profile campaigns and drive continual improvement to achieve Shelter's strategic goals.

This role involves building strong relationships across Shelter, promoting collaboration, and acting as a spokesperson when required.

You'll need excellent political instincts, campaign experience, and the ability to oversee the production of high-quality policy and research.

Children North East is a growing charity, working to ensure that all babies, children and young people have the opportunity to grow up happy and healthy. The charity as a whole has been through a transformative restructure and due to this transformation the charity has grown substantially since 2019. Our Operational area will be led by two Directors an Operations Director and an Operations Development Director.

The current Operations Director has now been appointed internally as the Operations Development Director, this role will focus on system change including research, data, growth and further our development on specific pieces of work. This will include growing the demographics of children we work with to help us to meet their needs, changing reactionary work into intervention work and will lead on the following:
• CNE voice work – supporting babies children and young people to have a voice in the work that we do at CNE.
• Developing, implementing and leading on our training offer – in house online packages.
• Leading on new operational developments – research, scoping, pilots and evaluation.
• Driving forward our current work – regionally and nationally – stakeholder engagement, scoping new geographical areas for
development actively selling our work.
• Influencing and campaigning – working alongside policy/campaigning led by CNE, influencing external networks and systems.

The Operations Director will ensure that our current and future strategies will enable us to meet our ambitions. You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to drive the charity forward in meeting the end of its current 5 year strategy and be part of the development of the next 5 year strategy. You will create good working relationships with your senior leaders and Operational Leads and you will have a whole charity approach to the work required.

This role will Lead our Operational Leads to deliver the excellent services that sit within their portfolios including the following teams:

• Therapeutic including Counselling
• Communities
• Poverty Proofing

The Operations Director role will ensure the income, safety and quality of our services are delivered to the highest standards. With key leadership qualities, this role will ensure the sustainability of our services and work collaboratively with SLT to reach its ambitions of our current and future strategies. There will be specific collaboration with the Operations Development Director to ensure that once our seed and pilot work is established it is moved forward into Operations within the charity to benefit all of the people we work with. This role is also expected to inform the Operations Development Director of key themes/gaps in services that have been recognised through current service delivery work.

Development Director

Main Purpose and Scope of the Role

The Development Director will be a key part of the Action4Youth Senior Management Team, contributing to strategic development of the whole organisation and taking responsibility for the leadership and management of all aspects of business development, sales, fundraising, marketing and communications.

The Development Director will ensure development to support the Strategic and Operational Plans in order to achieve growth, sustainability and stability and to support the Action4Youth core offer i.e.  programme delivery and outdoor education.

Because Action4Youth is a relatively small organisation, teams are small and this means that even senior members of the team like Directors may have to cover for a team member when on leave or generally help out as necessary to achieve targets. In this particular role, that could mean undertaking basic tasks like completing a funding bid to meet a deadline, updating a webpage, writing blog posts or handling sales calls. This job is unusual in genuinely being both strategic and hands on.

Networking is an important part of this role so the post holder will often be expected to attend out of hours events to represent Action4Youth and to develop valuable relationships and connections.
