The position of Chief Operating Officer is an exciting new role within the charity. The last few years have seen Coram’s Fields grow both operationally and financially, and we now employ around 65 staff and in 2024/25 are expecting to turnover c.£2.4 million.

As our organisation and team has grown, so too has the need to strengthen our infrastructure and we are now looking for an experienced and skilled COO, to drive operational improvements across the key areas of HR, Finance and commercial.

The success of our financial model is underpinned by just under half our annual income coming from commercial revenue streams. You’ll bring a proven track record of maximising commercial income opportunities, a keen eye for spotting new ones, and the ability to cultivate these into financially rewarding ventures that support our overall sustainability and mission.

To be successful, you'll need to be an outstanding communicator, capable of building relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, from service managers on the ground, to our Trustees.

• In collaboration with the business lead, manage the development and delivery of technology projects, ensuring that it meets RCR’s required standards and supporting successful implementation.
• Ensure plans, risks and finances associated with project delivery are tracked as required and made visible for governance and portfolio management purposes. 
• Use feedback and research to recommend improvements to RCR’s IT project management processes, implementing agreed changes.
• Support the Head of IT in the day-to-day management of invoices and of the IT budget, ensuring that spend is accounted for and managed according to RCR’s guidelines.
• Manage, administer and schedule regular board meetings.  Follow up actions agreed in the board meeting, in partnership with the Head of IT.

Key responsibilities – Note the following list is not exhaustive and percentages are indicative only.

Oversight of accounting and cash management

Most of the detailed work in this section is undertaken by the direct reports with the oversight and management being provided by this Finance Manager role

· Appropriate recording, processing, coding, posting of all financial transactions – including but not limited to bank receipts and payments, accounts payable, accounts receivable, conference fee income, invoicing, journal entries.

· Regular timely bank reconciliations.

· Invoicing and credit control

· Chart of accounts structure and department codes

· Gift Aid claims

· VAT returns

· Foreign Speaker returns to HMRC

· Regular reconciliation of balance sheet accounts

· Manage the cash needed by the business, investing excess cash to maximise returns

HR Administration and Payroll

· Payroll - administration of and preparation of the payroll (Brightpay), including submissions in respect of HMRC and pensions.

· Management of staff holiday and sickness records

Preparation of budgets and forecasts

· Management and preparation of the annual budget – including for example income (conference fees, product sales, advertising, onsite cafes), running costs (event production costs, team activity costs, honoraria) centralised costs (staff, overheads), departmental budgets (networking, marketing), capital and restricted funds etc.

· Update of forecasts as required with a target of quarterly reporting to Section Head budget managers and Director of Operations.

Reporting

· Management accounts/management information/data for regular quarterly report data as required including reporting on conference and product performance.

Management of the finance team

· Quarterly Reviews

 Role Particulars - 

Working Pattern: Full time working hours, including weekly in-person team meetings in London: monthly all-staff meetings on Tuesdays twice a month, and weekly on Tuesdays twice a month.  The nature of this role means that some travel and working away from home will be required, as agreed in advance.  Specifically, the Finance Manager must be available for the annual leadership conference and some or all of the New Wine annual summer festival (on-site or remote support).  

Places of work: This role is eligible for hybrid and flexible working, with a minimum of 1 day in the London office a week. 

Supervision: The post holder will receive regular supervision from their line manager.  

Role review: There is a three-month probationary period for this role.  The post holder will then receive a quarterly rolling review of performance, the role, job description, terms and package.

London's Air Ambulance treats patients who experience critical injury in the capital and support them and their families on a road to recovery. Data Lead (Executive)
Location: Based in London with travel to sub-Saharan Africa 
Hours: Full time (office based)
Salary: £90,000 - £150,000 (Negotiable dependent on experience)

The role
The goal of the Data Lead’s work is to set up data systems that help drive the organisations internal and their external partners’ success. The key areas include:

(1) to establish and manage an internal monitoring framework that tracks whether they are progressing towards their target – and helps them course correct if not on track;

(2) to provide strategic advice to their governmental partners on their data management and visualisation needs, which are key to advancing their human development agendas; and

(3) to think critically about how they track results in their leadership development work.

Experience
To be successful in this role you will need extensive experience with integrated monitoring frameworks and the use of data to drive government decision-making. 

You will have familiarity with relevant sub-fields, such as labour market information systems; health data systems; or education data systems and be able to demonstrate familiarity with and/or experience working in sub-Saharan Africa.

The role is working externally at the highest levels so will require someone with first class interpersonal and presentations skills, the ability to navigate complex environments and a willingness to understand partners’ contexts and political constraints. You will need to fully supports the ambition of policy champions at national level without prescribing external agendas, have a passion for using evidence to drive better decision making and the ability to maintain focus on the big picture, even when discussing technical questions.

Substantive knowledge in a field related to international development or human capital development appreciated and fluency in French and/or widely spoken African languages is desirable. We're open to sector experience but are particularly interested to hear from you if you are bring experience from the Government or Finance sectors.

A National Museum renowned for housing once of the finest arts collections in the world is currently seeking an Interim Financial Controller to join the team for an initial 6 month period.

Reporting into the Director of Finance & Resources, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day financial management of the organisation and is the first point of contract for internal and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and time financial reporting and produce monthly management accounts.

Duties will include the following:

• Preparation of all routine and ad hoc reports drawn from accounting records
• Production of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis
• Monthly reports for all budget holders
• Coding of all self-generated income, ensuring that recognition complies with the relevant accounting standards  
• Maintenance of the Fixed Asset register (reconciliation performed annually as part of the year end process)
• Payroll reconciliation (payroll is performed by an external third party provider)
• Preparation of the annual budget and periodic reforecasts of budget throughout the year
• Monthly counting and banking of the donation boxes
• Regular monitoring of bank accounts and working capital

About the role

We seek a Head of Operations who will play a pivotal role in overseeing various aspects of our London Higher’s operations, including human resources, governance and compliance, IT, finance, and administrative functions. Working closely with the CEO and senior management team (SMT), you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of our day-to-day operations and external events, while contributing to the strategic planning and growth of the organisation.

As our CEO's external focus increases, you will lead the day-to-day internal operations and business activities to ensure the smooth running of London Higher. You will act as a strong team leader, who motivates and inspires a small team, fostering and supporting the CEO to champion a positive organisational culture.

We operate a hybrid working culture. Our offices are based in London, Tavistock Square (WC1H 9HQ), and there is an expectation that you be based at least two days per week from our office.

Who are we looking for?

We seek someone experienced in a broad operational role, ideally from a similar-sized small organisation. Whilst you don’t have to be an HR professional/expert or be HR qualified, we require a proven track record in managing HR functions. Equally, you don’t have to be a qualified finance professional, but we do need someone with strong financial acumen. We need someone who can demonstrate the ability to oversee IT needs in conjunction with IT support consultants, and someone who can do board meetings and other administrative tasks, such as preparing agendas and minutes.

You will be experienced in coordinating small-scale events and managing operational logistics, such as venue booking, catering arrangements, and attendee management. You will come with flexibility and adaptability to navigate the unique challenges and opportunities faced by a small organisation, being able to roll up your sleeves, whilst also being able to think strategically and contribute to the organisation's short-term and long-term planning processes.

Ultimately you will be adept at tackling any potential issues head-on, through a solutions-focused and flexible mindset. You will be someone who listens and responds in a meaningful way, and make things happen.

Overall Purpose of Role

This role will lead the operational team at Saint Paul’s with inspiring and effective line management to release ministry in the wider team and congregation. This is a hands on leadership role, supporting and working closely with the Senior Leaders to ensure effective operations and business continuity. You will lead on all operations functions including Finance, HR, Facilities, Procurement and all other operations that help our team thrive and carry out the vision of Saint Paul’s. Reporting in to boards and other management bodies, as well as experience running and leading teams, you will have an eye for detail with the ability and experience in carrying out change. You will carry the vision and mission of Saint Paul’s and lead the team in a way that supports the vision, balancing both strategic and operational goals. Key Responsibilities

Finance

• Lead and manage Finance and Procurement, ensuring value for money, maximising financial efficiency through accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis to inform decision making and projections related to the operational and financial functioning of Saint Paul’s.
• P&L reporting and responsibility.
• Managing and supporting the Finance Manager.
• Managing Payroll alongside Finance Manager.
• Overseeing gift days.
• Managing and monitoring team budgets ensuring compliance with financial protocols.
• Timely preparation, monitoring and communication of monthly accounts, budgets and forecasts for Finance Committee and PCC.
• Assisting in the preparation and reporting of financial accounts for HMRC, Auditors, Diocese and Charity Commission.
• Preparation of financial information for grant funding and financial reporting for successful bids. 

HR & Team

· Line Managing the Operations team including the Finance Manager, Operations Manager, LCL Manager, Receptionist and Bookings Manager and Facilities Manager.

· Ensure the overall smooth running of HR, ensuring we are using best practice and are up to date with knowledge at all times.

· Monitoring of Citrus HR to ensure all team are using the programme to its full ability.

· Governance of payroll, overtime and leave.

· Running annual appraisal processes and updating where needed.

· Meeting with wider team members as and when needed to ensure health of team.

· Being a first point of call for any HR issues that arise and advising on these.

· Overseeing and leading of recruitment processes.

Facilities Management

· Ensure the historic fabric of the church and associated buildings is maintained and developed in line with prescribed regulations and standards and where appropriate that the historical and heritage aspects of the buildings are appropriately profiled and made available to the community and general public. 

· Manage all operations budgets and external contract relationships in line with forecast ensuring value for money and delivery is in line with agreed project scope/specifications and high-quality service. 

· Proactively agree (and monitor) standards for buildings maintenance and adherence.

· Leading on our Carbon Net Zero journey.

· Business Continuity and Disaster Management Plan reviewing to ensure risk management/mitigation.

Other

· Strategic management of the Saint Paul’s Centre and all business related to it, ensuring we meet our targets and ensuring good working relationships with clients to help secure repeat business from large clients.

· Oversight of the café, helping to improve our offerings and ensure management of the team and operational effectiveness.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

You will be flexible and able to work dynamically to respond to needs as they arise, whilst keeping a strategic eye on upcoming opportunities and challenges. You will bring strength to the day-to-day running of St Paul’s, as well as be planning for the short-term and long-term future health of the team and church.

· 5+ years experience in operations management, with a proven track record of line management. 

· Strong finance capabilities and experience.

· Strong HR experience and understanding of the function.

Working Requirements

• Proof of right to work in the UK according to UK Legislation.
