Meet your Manager

In this role you will be managed by Cheryl King-McDowall. Cheryl joined ClientEarth from the UK Cabinet Office, where she worked on Government Communication professional standards and major programmes including Covid Communications, UK GREAT Campaign, and the Leadership College for Government. On secondment from the Cabinet Office she led the creation of a new operating model for the House of Commons’ HR function. Prior to this, Cheryl has worked in and led HR, Policy, Communications and Operations, for over 30 years in a variety of organisations including Local Authorities, Charity, NGO, and Higher Education sectors. With a background in occupational and organisational psychology, she specialises in organisational development and effectiveness, change and business improvement.

Main Duties

• Serve as a key member of the People & Culture management team, contributing to strategic planning, operational delivery, and team development ensuring best practice and drive consistency across global teams.
• Provide expert advice to senior leaders and People & Culture colleagues on HR policy, organisational design, workforce planning, and change management.  
• Provide expert guidance on employee relations matters, including handling complex and sensitive cases such as grievances, disciplinary actions, and performance issues. 
• Work closely with legal advisors, managers, and Unions to ensure fair, transparent, and legally compliant outcomes.

As a CRM Engineer at Cancer Research UK (CRUK) you will play an essential role in our migration from Sieble to Salesforce by helping to deliver specific packages of development for our Salesforce platform within one of our Technology product teams while running our CRM platform in production, in collaboration with the CRM support team.

Collaborating with other Engineers, Sieble Application Administrators, Product Managers, Testers, Agile Coaches, Architects, support engineers, end users, and Business Analysts you will adopt and ensure best practices while looking for new and improved approaches to technical challenges. You must be able to communicate with less technical colleagues from the wider charity in a language they can understand to help them convert business challenges into technical solutions.

A key part of the role is to keep the Salesforce system operational by managing administrative changes from both the development teams and support functions. This will involve maintaining and onboarding user profiles as the platform grows (we currently have 70 users, are onboarding 100 this quarter, and up to 500 in the first half of next year). You will also work to continually improve the accessibility, availability, performance, and security of our Salesforce products and environments.

What will I be doing?

• Working independently or in collaboration with Solution Architects to support solutions in line with the CRM Engineering strategy
• Collaborating with Product Managers, Service Designers, UX Designers, Business Analysts, and operational teams/support to identify user needs, discuss capabilities and iteratively design solutions
• Contributing to the CRM Engineering capability team to identify and share good practices; develop standards, patterns, automation & tools; and reduce technical debt and operational risks
• Developing the CRM platform ensuring clean, readable, and properly tested code based on tried and tested design patterns while running the platform in production with the CRM support team

What will I be doing?

Key Responsibilities

· Co-lead and develop your team in partnership with the Service Manager in delivering recovery-focused, high-quality, safe and person-centred care, delivering great outcomes for people using services.

About the role

Kinship Minds is a transformative programme that enhances the support we provide to kinship carers in England and Wales. Our goal is to build kinship carers' confidence and equip them with the knowledge and skills to support children in their care - especially in recognising and responding to early signs of mental health issues. 

We are at the beginning of our journey to embed therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches across all areas of service delivery. This includes 1-to-1 support, digital resources and training, and peer support networks. 

The Strategic Trauma-Informed Practice Manager will lead this transition, helping us move from a trauma-sensitive organisation on a journey that becomes trauma-aware, trauma-informed, and ultimately trauma-responsive.

This strategic and hands-on role will help Kinship strengthen its therapeutic offer and build the confidence and capacity of staff and kinship carers to understand trauma and the impact it has, and provide strategies to support. We are particularly interested in experience in developing trauma-informed parenting training and resources.

The postholder will play a key role in developing and manualising our trauma-informed approach across core services: Kinship Connected, Kinship Reach, our Advice Service, and Peer Support Service. They will work with subject matter experts to develop trauma-informed approaches, toolkits and resources into everyday service delivery – based on the needs of kinship carers and their families.

You will need to be able to step into this role quickly, bringing your experience of building and developing trauma-informed approaches in complex services. You will have strong leadership capabilities, able to work at pace autonomously with creativity and dynamism.  You will need to have excellent attention to detail.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and leading Kinship’s trauma-informed strategy, ensuring the implementation of trauma-informed principles across all service delivery (for example, using Dr Karen Treisman’s approach). 
• Leading the development and manualisation of trauma-informed practice across Kinship Connected, Kinship Reach, the Advice Service, and the Peer Support Service. This includes resources, approach and content.
• Supporting organisational development to embed trauma-informed values in practice, culture, policy, and leadership, working with our Head of People and Culture.
• Developing reflective practice approach to support managers to staff and volunteer resilience particularly across services. This could include a ‘train the trainer’ approach.
• Auditing current practices and recommend systems and processes to support trauma-informed service delivery.
• Developing and delivering capacity-building approaches and resources for kinship carers to help them identify and respond to trauma and mental health needs in children. 
• Working collaboratively with subject matter experts to develop self-guided training, toolkits, and multimedia resources.
• Providing and leading expert input into the trauma-informed design and delivery of Kinship Connected, Kinship Reach, Advice Service and other 1-to-1 support programmes.
• Guiding frontline delivery staff to adopt trauma-informed practice, including the use of strengths-based approaches and flexible, family-led planning.
• Representing Kinship at external events and meetings to raise awareness of the services and to influence other organisations, policy and practice.

Essential knowledge, abilities, skills and experience includes:

• A qualified trauma-informed practitioner with significant experience in delivering or developing trauma-informed services.  
• Experience working with kinship carers or in adoption and fostering sector.   
• Proven experience applying the principles of trauma-informed care across organisations, preferably in children and family services. 
• Experience in designing and delivering training and coaching for professionals and/or families on trauma and therapeutic approaches.  
• Excellent understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures focusing on contributing to a culture which values transparency, reflective practice and continuous learning.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Head of Programme Management to lead the delivery of two flagship initiatives, Inside Job and Choirs Beating Time. You will be responsible for ensuring high-quality, consistent delivery across prisons and the community.

You will be based in Birmingham or London. Expensed travel will be part of the role to attend our prisons, for partner meetings and organisational collaboration. It’s essential you can drive, and you have access to a car. We also have a long-standing partnership based in Newcastle.

Working closely with the CEO and COO, you’ll help shape operational strategy, refine delivery processes, and scale the impact of our peer-led employment and music-based rehabilitation programmes. This is a leadership role at the heart of an innovative, mission-driven organisation committed to supporting people leaving prison into meaningful work and purposeful lives.

Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to obtain security clearance from the Ministry of Justice to work within prisons. This clearance enables team members to have key access and carry out their duties safely and effectively.

• Inside Job is the UK’s first peer-led employment initiative supporting people leaving prison into sustainable work. The programme empowers those with lived experience of the justice system to support others, reducing reoffending and creating meaningful opportunities.

ROLE SUMMARY

This role will be pivotal in devising, executing, and evaluating impactful marketing and communication strategies that resonate with key audiences and advance upReach's mission of transforming social mobility in the UK. The successful candidate will split their time between PR and external affairs (50%) and marketing campaign development and delivery (50%), with flexibility to adjust based on organisational priorities.

Reporting to the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager, and closely collaborating with the Junior Marketing and Communications Manager on specific projects, focussed on increasing press coverage, creating compelling marketing materials, and delivering impactful campaigns. You will work closely with the wider team to ensure all communications align with upReach’s brand, with the ultimate aim of championing upReach's mission to transform social mobility in the UK. You will also support upReach in fulfilling our 2024-27 strategic objectives.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

PR, External Affairs & Policy:

• PR Strategy: Contribute to the development and implementation of a PR strategy to raise awareness of upReach and the cause of social mobility, secure new partners/funders, and attract student applicants. 

• Media Content: Create press releases, opinion pieces, blogs and research that reflect the charity’s policy positions on key social mobility issues, and keep upReach website up to date with the latest coverage and articles. 

• Impact Monitoring: Track and quality score incoming press coverage to analyse performance and adjust strategies based on incoming insights, pro-actively securing additional backlinks.

• External Stakeholder Management: Help respond to incoming media inquiries, ensuring timely responses and distribution of materials. Cultivate relationships with journalists, media outlets, influencers, other social mobility organisations, and other key stakeholders to expand upReach’s visibility, updating the CRM and journalist database accordingly.

• Collaborative Marketing: Collaborate with other charities, higher education institutions, and student societies, to develop co-marketing opportunities that expand programme reach among target student audiences.

• Share best practices and drive consistency in HR practices across global teams.
• Support leadership meetings by delivering insights and assessing People & Culture needs proactively. 
• Advise on complex employee relations issues, including performance management, conduct, capability, and grievance handling. 
• Oversee our relationship with our Employer of Record (EOR) including, ensuring accuracy and timely submission of payroll processes in line with legal and organisational requirements.

Role requirements

• Previous experience working in a HR role in South East Asia (particularly Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia) with in-depth understanding of local employment laws in at least one of these countries (essential). 
• CIPD qualified (Assoc & above) or equivalent work experience (essential)
• Experience of working with Employer of Record providers (essential) 
• Strong understanding of HR systems, processes, and best practices. (essential) 
• Fluent (CEFR level C2) in English (essential) 
• Effective interpersonal skills, capable of working independently and collaboratively (essential)
