We’re making it easier for people who use our services to find and connect to the support they need. And we're looking at ways to make our support more accessible and personalised to meet people’s individual needs, no matter where they are on their MS journey.
We’re creating services that are flexible so that, when someone's circumstance changes, we’ll change too. As demand for our services grows, we’ll always be ready to support everyone who needs our help.
Our new structure and our new ways of working will bring all of these services together under one delivery model launching next year. We're creating a new virtual support hub to bring together everything our community needs to manage their MS or support and care for someone living with MS.
Our Head of Volunteering is a key leadership role in our Services and Support directorate, as part of our Services Development function.
We rely heavily on our volunteers to support our mission and improve the lives of people affected by MS. Our volunteers who generously donate their time are critical to our success.
Our volunteers play an important role in:
- fundraising events
- delivering resources to people affected by MS
- advocating for MS research and policy
- providing care and support to the MS community
Our Head of Volunteering will be:
- leading on the development and implementation of the organisation's volunteering strategy
- growing organisational capacity and capability in volunteering, maximising the unique contribution volunteering can make to support the MS Society's strategic aims.
- leading a team who will support our volunteer journey, volunteer experience and volunteering systems, developing a high-performing and motivated culture within teams.
- ensuring volunteer-related policies, products and procedures are aligned with sector best practice and opportunities are increased to support the engagement and retention of volunteers, leading to an increase in flexible volunteering roles and volunteers.
- seeking new opportunities to grow and develop volunteer capacity, engagement and impact.
We’re looking for:
- extensive experience of development and successful implementation of a volunteering strategy or plan
- a proven track record of operating at a senior level within a volunteering function or organisation, engaging significant numbers of volunteers.
- significant experience in developing and implementing volunteer journeys, policies and processes focussed on improving the volunteer experience.
- substantial experience of successfully leading and managing a large and geographically dispersed teams of staff and volunteers, embedding change and fostering a high performing culture.

Operations Assistant (Full Time – Office Based)
Job Purpose:
The Operations Assistant provides support to the HR and Operations Manager by taking day to day responsibility, under guidance, for various facilities, safety and administrative processes, including HR administration, as well as responsiblity for locking/unlocking of meeting rooms, routine health and safety tasks and other matters that contribute to making the office a pleasant and functional environment in which to work.
The duties will also include giving regular support to the Fulfilment Manager and under their guidance, process orders and support with despatch and deliveries, in addition to providing holiday cover, when the Fulfilment Manager is away.

About the Role
To work as part of a team that delivers an assessment, support and move on service to vulnerable clients in supported or community-based accommodation. Our work is underpinned by the Endeavour model of assets-based, psychologically informed delivery. The aim of this is to ensure that every client leaves the service with the skills and resilience to be confident and self-determining in their lives.
Working under the direction, guidance and support of a manager/senior worker you will be responsible for managing the building to ensure that the accommodation provided to the clients is safe and secure through the provision of overnight concierge service, security and door control. The Role
Social prescribing link workers will work as a key part of the primary care network (PCN) multi-disciplinary team. Social prescribing can help PCNs to strengthen community and personal resilience and reduces health and wellbeing inequalities by addressing the wider determinants of health, such as debt, poor housing and physical inactivity, by increasing people’s active involvement with their local communities. It particularly works for people with long term conditions (including support for mental health), for people who are lonely or isolated, or have complex social needs which affect their wellbeing.
Responsibilities include:
- Working with direct supervision from the Programme Lead/Senior Link Worker and input from the PCN’s Clinical Lead GP, take referrals from staff in GP practices within the local PCN.
- Provide personalised support to individuals, their families and carers to take control of their health and wellbeing, live independently and improve their health outcomes, as a key member of the PCN multi-disciplinary team.
- Developing trusting relationships and taking a holistic approach, based on the person’s priorities and co-produce a simple personalised care and support plan to improve health and wellbeing, introducing or reconnecting people to community groups and statutory services.
- Work collaboratively with all local partners to contribute towards supporting local community groups and organisations, making themselves aware of local resources and “assets” through mapping and then building a relationship with these organisations. Also sharing intelligence regarding any gaps or problems identified in local provision with commissioners and local authorities.
- Social prescribing link workers will work collaboratively with GP’s and have a role in promoting social prescribing and educating non-clinical and clinical staff within their PCN multi-disciplinary teams on the benefits of social prescribing
- Raise awareness of other services available within the community and how and when patients can access them. Linking into the work of Neighbourhood Network Schemes, locality Adult Social Care & Community Mental Health Teams.
About You
As a Social Prescribing Link Worker, you will have a Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (Health & Social Care, Health Trainer, Health Improvement, Community Family Worker, Psychology) or be working towards/willing to work towards.
You will have:
- Demonstrable commitment to professional and personal development
- Experience of working directly in a community based context (including unpaid work)
- Experience of supporting people with a mental health need and or complexities/vulnerabilities
- Experience of delivering one to one support

Your Day-to-Day
- Support children and young people with have neuro developmental disabilities attending the school holiday schemes and weekend clubs.
- Create a fun, inclusive and engaging environment where children and young people feel safe, valued and free to express themselves through play.
- Use a personalised approach (based on information provided in a care plan) to ensure that their needs are met and they are supported to communicate in their preferred method (Speech, Makaton, Gestures, Symbols, etc.)
- Assist with personal care where required such as toileting, eating, drinking. Some of the children and young people we support have complex medical needs and require additional support to meet their basic needs; full training is provided.
- Ensure all activities meet health and safety standards and safeguarding expectations.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to plan and deliver high-quality experiences.
- Communicate effectively with the Service Manager, colleagues, and parents/carers to share updates or concerns.
- Help set up and tidy activity areas before and after sessions.
- Attend team meetings, debriefs and training sessions to continuously improve practice.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- Experience working with children or young people.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexible and creative thinking, willing to adapt quickly to situations and go with the flow.
- Awareness of Health & Safety and safeguarding.
- Must be aged 18 or older.
Desirable:
- Experience supporting children or young people with disabilities.
- Understanding of neurodiversity and neurodevelopmental disabilities or a willingness to learn.
- QCF Level 2 (or equivalent) in childcare or a related subject.
- Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, the Jewish community.

As the Senior HR Business Partner, you will:
- Partner with the organisation to deliver an effective HR Business Partnering that is focused on proactive approach and solution.
- Lead and deliver effective HR operations, ensuring systems and processes are efficient and aligned with organisational goals.
- Oversee all aspects of HR operations, including employee relations (ER), recruitment, workforce management and Change Programmes.
