Kinship is in the third year of delivering the first national peer support service for kinship carers in England. We have created 145 peer support groups and supported and trained kinship carers to create and lead their groups in a way which meets their needs.
With a new contract from the Department for Education, we’re now entering a new phase of our service with a focus on:
- creating 90 new sustainable peer support groups in areas of most need over 21 months;
- sustaining and developing the current 145 existing groups; and
- providing support and help to build a sustainable and welcoming community for all peer support groups across England.
This role will mobilise, develop and innovate our existing offer into a new Peer Support Hub with the focus on supporting sustainability and building resilience of peer support groups and their leaders. You will support and build our Kinship peer support community.
You’ll work with group leaders to develop a central hub of accessible and useful resources to help them to sustain their groups, working with colleagues right across Kinship to promote consistent access to services and activities (training, programmes, information, advice and campaigns), building a joined-up user experience.
About the role
The role of the Peer Support Hub Lead is to oversee and take accountability for sustaining kinship peer support groups across England in priority areas as part of a new hub and spoke delivery model.
In this context, your team is the centralised ‘hub’ of the service, delivering an exciting programme of training, speakers, toolkits and resources to help peer support group leaders develop, build and sustain their group well.
Your national team of three will make sure groups feel connected and supported, learn from each other and build a powerful and resilient peer community.

The type of person we’re looking for:
This is a new a role and a new structure for the team. You will need to be a strong, boundaried manager and leader. You will understand the power of building relationship-focussed peer support groups and the importance of in person local community engagement and outreach.
The team you lead will focus on community outreach and relationship building to develop new groups and new support group leaders through to independence. By independence, we mean that the groups will function successfully without a staff member present.
We want groups to feel a sense of community and belonging through all support and services we offer at Kinship, so your team will be the local contact. They are expected to be out and about in communities.
Your team will need to build resilience through in person outreach, support, training and connection to ensure groups are able to function independently before moving to new ‘hub’ team who will provide centralised support and community building.
Your team will also reach out to existing groups (providing a face of the service and a relationship with it), ensuring they have the resources they need and support to sustain their group and then transition to the ‘hub’ team. This will include in person visits.
Purpose of the role:
The role of Programme Lead is to oversee and take accountability for the development and creation of new sustainable kinship peer support groups across England in priority areas as part of a new hub and spoke delivery model. In this context, your team is the ‘spoke’ of the service, delivering local outreach, online groups (where appropriate) and relationship building with kinship carers.
Managing a national team of seven staff (two direct line reports), you will provide firm leadership, ensuring targets and funder SLAs are met consistently and the service is delivered to a high quality. You will provide monthly reports, ensuring delivery is on track and most importantly that kinship carers have an excellent and positive experience.

About the role:
Kinship is in our third year of delivering the first national peer support service for kinship carers in England. We are looking for a new Associate Director of Peer Support and Community to build and develop our model and to take the team to the next phase of growth and impact.
Your first priority will be to oversee delivery of the Department for Education national Peer Support Service contract in England. You will lead the development of our hub and spoke model, with an enhanced offer of national resources and support together with a continued focus on on-the-ground support for kinship carers to set up and sustain a network of peer support groups. You will ensure all members of the team have clarity and are empowered to meet new targets and ways of working.
The role will also lead on the strategic development of peer support approaches in Wales (for which we are seeking funding), ensuring innovation and good practice is shared across the nations.
Kinship peer support groups are powerful levers for change in local, regional and national ecosystems. Your team will ensure that every kinship carer in England and Wales has access to a peer support group, or support to set up and create their own. First Give is a national charity that inspires young people to make a difference to the causes they care about. We do this through working in partnership with secondary schools, providing a fully resourced scheme of work that guides an entire year group of students to engage with local charities and causes and then carry out social action (fundraising, raising awareness, campaigning, volunteering etc.) in support of them.

Programme Manager role
Programme Managers are responsible for coordinating the delivery of the First Give programme in up to 60 schools. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic candidate to join our team of Programme Managers.
Programme Managers support our schools to deliver the programme, engaging approximately 35,000 young people in social action for local causes. The schools this Programme Manager will work with are based in Wales and the West of England, plus some schools in London and the South East.
- Contract: Full time, fixed term maternity cover, approximately 11 month contract. 37.5 hours per week (9am-5.30pm but with occasional early starts and late finishes dependent on events and school visits).
- Salary: £32,000 – 34,000
- Location: Remote working from your Wales-based home, with regular travel to schools in Wales and the West of England. Travel to First Give’s London office in West Hampstead and other locations in England and Wales for team meetings will be required, approximately once per month.

Key responsibilities
All Programme Managers have the following as ‘core’ responsibilities, to ensure the successful delivery and management of the First Give programme in schools:
- Manage relationships with teachers and school leaders to deliver the First Give programme
- Manage programmes using Salesforce
- Attend school Finals and other in school events
- Deliver First Give events (Assemblies, Workshops and Finals) where required
- Renew schools onto the programme year-on-year
- Support recruitment and management of school facilitators as appropriate
- Provide logistic and programme support to teachers delivering the First Give programme at their school, including but not limited to:

Working with children and young people, the team will focus on delivering timely and high quality, trauma informed support to children who have been the victims of domestic abuse.

Our mission is to help children and young people have a fair chance to be who they want to be. We do this by providing a safe home, increasing life skills and self-confidence, and improving emotional wellbeing and mental health.
You will be working as part of the West Sussex night team providing mobile support to our 24-hour services, ensuring that our transitional properties are safe, secure, and welcoming through the night. You will be based at the Horsham Y Centre and will support the static night worker there during the night as well as undertaking your mobile duties. You will regularly complete building checks and monitor CCTV upkeeping health and safety regulations in accordance with YMCA DLG's policies and procedures. You will work to prevent any anti-social behaviour from impacting our neighbours and other residents. You will help to contribute to a great working environment, with a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations.
In addition, you will work alongside other support staff to maximise the wellbeing of residents by completing one to one interventions with young people who may be experiencing mental health crisis and/or who may need medical assistance.
This is a mobile role, requiring all applicants to have a full valid, UK Driving Licence. You will also be lone working as part of the role, so you will need to be comfortable with decision making and following procedures.
You will work on four nights on, four nights off rota. Although these are long shifts, you will get four days off after, which can provide a great work life balance.

Ideally you will have experience working with young people, those considered vulnerable or with multiple and complex needs along with being able to demonstrate a real passion for wanting to work with young people. You will have an understanding of the needs of single homeless clients aged 16-25 and the ability to engage, motivate and inspire, with a strong commitment to changing the life of others for the better. You will be an effective communicator who is able to deliver robust, clear handovers and build strong relationships with other members of your team. In addition, you will have the ability to de-escalate volatile situations and manage challenging behaviour appropriately.

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE SLT
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Part-time (21-28 hours per week). Additional hours may sometime be required, particularly for Trustee meetings, and can be taken as Time Off In Lieu.
The Executive Assistant (EA) to the SLT will facilitate all the charity’s governance requirements. Activities will primarily focus on Trustee meetings, Committees and Management team meetings, but will include policy administration and all other aspects of corporate governance and company secretariat. The post will also form part of newly-formed HR function within the charity.
The EA to the SLT will be a key role in giving the charity the capacity and expertise it needs to grow in a well-governed and responsible yet ambitious way.
