Summary

The Church of England Pensions Board ("the Board") is a statutory body which is a corporate trustee and administrator of four pension schemes, including both defined benefit (final salary, hybrid and CARE) and defined contribution arrangements. Almost 44, 000 people and 700 Church organisations rely on the Board for their pensions. The Board also provides housing services, providing over 2,400 residents with retirement housing.

The Board's investment team stewards approximately £3.4 billion in a diversified investment portfolio. The team are responsible for ensuring these funds are invested responsibly and with consideration to the ethical values of the Church.

This is a new role to support the coordination and delivery of the Responsible Investment (RI) Team strategy. The role will support the entire RI team with administration and project coordination tasks including reporting and will report to the Chief Responsible Investment Officer (CRIO) with a dotted line to the Managing Director, Responsible Investment.

Job Purpose 

The weekend Home & Settle Project Officer is responsible for responding to referrals received over the weekend from both Royal London Hospital & Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. You will work with the manager on Friday to deliver services and plan visits on the weekend for you to attend.  

The service supports people returning after a stay in hospital, helping them to settle back at home, regain confidence and support with some practical tasks, e.g. shopping/cleaning.  You will manage referrals, carry out assessments, and in liaison with the manager, allocate service users to Discharge and Settle Worker caseloads. You will provide direct frontline support and co-ordinate visits to the service users’ home in preparation for their return home. You will work collaboratively to lead and manage the weekend service to support the smooth transition from hospital to home for service users.  The service is time limited, up to 4 or 6 weeks, to adjust, build confidence, and settle back in their homes. 

Key Tasks 

• Act as the first point of contact for all referrals over the weekend across both hospitals. 

• Meet with patients in the community and/or hospital and carrying out assessments and risk assessments.

• Enter referrals on to AUKEL’s case management system (currently Charity Log) in accordance with GDPR guidelines. 

• Allocate referrals to Discharge and Settle workers (in the week) using tech available (currently the Call Round App), training will be available. 

• Collect feedback from service users and upload to case management system. 

• Prepare and keep stock of AUKEL Welcome Packs and service leaflets. 

• Deputise for the manger at discharge planning and other meetings as required. 

• Support hospitals to improve the patient’s experience of the discharge process. 

• Monitor the case loads of each of the Discharge and Settle workers (DSW) to ensure they are evenly and fairly balanced. 

• Work collaboratively with other agencies providing support services. 

• Work with people with a range of needs, dealing with issues ranging from social isolation and keeping people engaged in their community, to preventing unnecessary readmission to hospital. 

• Plan and develop person centred interventions to provide short term support for people after hospital discharge. 

• Deliver the front-line support services over the weekend

• Provide occasional cover for the A/L of other Project Officers

• Work with people with a range of needs, dealing with issues ranging from social isolation and keeping people engaged in their community, to preventing unnecessary admission to hospital. 

• Supervise, support and develop DSWs and volunteers in your service. 

• Liaise with the handyperson service about referrals and jobs for service users. 

• Ensure DSW are resourced to sign post service users to other services when the home and settle service intervention ends. 

• Arranging access visits to service user’s homes. 

Administration 

• Keep AUKEL’s case management system up to date, input all data, and ensure all referrals, interventions, time spent with service users are recorded. 

• Allocate referrals to DSW using tech available (currently - Charity Log ‘Call Round’ App). 

• Ensure wards have good supply of service leaflets and referral forms. 

• Ensure data collected meets the requirements of the service’s contract monitoring and key performance indicators. 

• Ensure customer feedback questionnaires are sent at the end of each intervention and record returns. 

• Ensure admin tasks relating to service users, Discharge and Settle workers or general admin is carried out in a timely and efficient manner.

• Provide cover as needed, i.e. annual leave and sickness, for the services you manage, and other hospital settle services provided by AUKEL 

• Carry out monitoring of the service ensuring it meets the contractual requirements of commissioners. 

Quality  

• Be familiar with and to implement AUKEL policies and procedures. 

• Ensure the service is delivered in accordance with Care Quality Commission fundamental standards. 

• Ensure integration with other AUKEL projects, and service users are referred and/or sign-posted to appropriate support services available to them. 

• Respond to safeguarding or other concerns and make appropriate reports and management action 

Liaison 

• Represent AUKEL and participate in appropriate external meetings and events to remain aware of local, regional and national issues affecting quality and compliance affecting care and home support services. 

• Work in collaboration with hospital colleagues including discharge teams, A&E, ward staff, community teams to support the successful discharge of people and reduce readmission. 

• Liaise with other AUKEL home and settle services across London and work collaboratively to maintain effective services, including sharing staff where appropriate. 

• Work closely with the AUKEL handyperson service to meet contractual obligations where a handyperson service is provided as part of the service. 

• Liaise with contractors to arrange deliveries and works to service user’s homes. 

 General 

• Meet regularly with your line manager for support, supervision and appraisal. 

• Attend team and staff meetings, (and other meetings) as required. 

• Undertake any other duties within the competence of the post holder as may be required from time to time for the continued smooth running of AUKEL. 

• Undertake any training required to fulfil the post.

About the Role

The role of the Media Officer is to support Reprieve’s communications through traditional and social media, in support of the organisation’s strategic and fundraising objectives. You will be responsible for building relationships with journalists, providing media advice to Reprieve staff, and working with colleagues to ensure external messaging is consistent in quotes, briefings, social media content, and on Reprieve’s website. You will help to find and develop stories, collaborating with journalists and external partners on media that has an impact: revealing human rights abuses, shaping policy and raising the profile of our clients.

The successful candidate will have excellent writing and communication skills, and a proven ability to produce exceptional work under pressure. They will have a deep understanding of all forms of media and how to use these platforms for maximum impact, and a track record of securing media coverage on challenging issues.

Length and Salary

This is a full-time role on a one-year fixed term contract, subject to extension depending on funding. The annual salary is £42,193 per annum less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance.

This role is based in Reprieve’s London office. Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work 40% of their working hours from the London office and the rest of the week from home.

What will I be doing?

As Project Officer, Workforce Partnerships, you’ll be part of the Education and Workforce team, supporting our mission to build a strong, diverse physics workforce for the future. At Lewisham Refugee and Migrant Network we’re looking for someone to join us as our Senior Legal Aid Advisor. We will always stand by people standing up to an unjust immigration system. We provide a safe haven for people to rebuild their lives and our Senior Legal Aid Advisor role is a key part of that. Sitting in the immigration team, you will work on our Legal Aid contract alongside a team of Immigration Advisors working on a mix of grant funded projects for migrants unable to afford private representation. You will work within a supportive environment, reporting to our Immigration Manager, and be able to develop your areas of expertise. We’re a small and colaborative team so you will have the opportunity to work closely with other members of the organisation. 

Main Roles
Manage a full caseload of complex immigration matters funded by legal aid, including
asylum, human rights, and deportation cases.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations (IAAS, SRA, LAA).
Complete funding applications, manage provider submissions, track time, prepare
and submit legal aid bills and ensure compliance with LAA obligations.
Provide ad hoc supervision, mentoring or training to members of the immigration
team working on related immigration matters.

Specific Duties
1.Manage a full caseload of complex immigration matters funded by legal aid,
including asylum, human rights, and deportation cases.
a.Manage a complex caseload across the field of immigration, nationality and
asylum law.
b.Prepare, draft and file appeals to the First-tier and Upper Tribunals and conduct
appeals hearings as required.
c.Own legal aid processes for each case: complete funding applications, provider
submissions, billing, time recording and compliance with funder requirements.
d.Provide expert legal advice and represent clients in hearings; instruct counsel
when necessary and manage counsel budgets.
e.Interview and advise clients regarding immigration and asylum law procedure, and
practice in a sensitive and professional manner.
f.To maintain accurate and detailed case records of clients for the purpose of
continuity of casework, information retrieval and statistical monitoring, using
Advice Pro as appropriate and as required by management.
g.Advocate on behalf of clients by telephone, letter and email with appropriate
agencies.

2. Ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations (IAAS, SRA, LAA).
a.Maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line with IAA, IAAS
registration or similar professional body, e.g. SRA
b.Keep up to date at all times with changes in the law by reading and attending
training events relating to asylum and immigration.
c.Adhere to casework procedures as outlined in LRMN’s policies, the IAA, SRA,
IAAS, SQM and AQS.
d.To maintain accurate and detailed case records of clients for the purpose of
continuity of casework, information retrieval and statistical monitoring, using
manual or/and computerised systems (Advicepro) as appropriate and as required
by management.
e.Produce reports to meet funder’s and LRMN requirements.
f.Work closely with the Immigration Manager and/or external evaluator in gathering
data and information to produce accurate monitoring and evaluation reports.
g.To assist LRMN in liaising with its funders and to provide statistical information
and updates as required.

3. Complete funding applications, manage provider submissions, track time, prepare and
submit legal aid bills and ensure compliance with LAA obligations.
a.Complete initial funding applications and any subsequent variations or
exceptional funding requests; gather and upload supporting evidence; ensure
eligibility and means assessments are correctly recorded.
b.Submit and monitor claims through the LAA portal (or other relevant portals),
respond to queries or requests for further information, and liaise with LAA
caseworkers or contract managers as required.
c.Draft detailed bills in the required format, check calculation of fees and
disbursements, obtain necessary approvals, and submit within contractual
deadlines.
d.Maintain documentary proof to satisfy LAA audit requirements (attendance
notes, advice records, evidence of means), respond to audit enquiries, and
implement remedial actions where required.

4. Provide ad hoc supervision, mentoring or training to members of the immigration team
working on related immigration matters.
a.Maintain close liaison with the Immigration Manager to ensure a unified approach
to leading and developing the team.
b.Provide occasional mentoring or supervision to individuals working on legal aid
cases.
c.Provide occasional training to individuals working on legal aid cases.

5. Other Duties
a.To participate in LRMN staff meetings, maintaining a high level of professionalism

Organisation: Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association (ILPA)

About the Role

The Legal Project Officer coordinates two projects which sit at the heart of ILPA’s legal policy and strategic legal coordination work.

The Legal Project Officer will work closely with the Legal Team (Legal Director and Senior Legal Officer) to run ILPA’s Working Groups and with the Senior Legal Projects Manager in a key role to coordinate strategic legal advice and litigation. You will support the organisation and running of ILPA’s thematic Working Groups, which provide a valuable forum for ILPA members to share best practice and discuss issues of current importance, assisting with agenda-setting, presenting updates, following-up on action points, answering queries, and preparing meeting summaries. The overall aim of these activities is to improve immigration, asylum and nationality law, policy and practice. 

You will work with the Senior Legal Projects Manager to develop partnerships with NGOs and legal professionals around the UK and to coordinate all Strategic Legal Advice Committee (SLAC) meetings. These meetings will be held online, across the UK. Each SLAC group will hold four meetings per year as well as emergency meetings where necessary. You will be responsible for the minute taking of all SLAC meetings. You will work with the Senior Legal Projects Manager to set member-led meeting agendas, identify member training needs, facilitate training, update the SLAC website, and feed in to monitoring and evaluation of the project. You will be responsible for coordinating SLAC Steering Committee meetings.

About you

The position would suit a self-motivated individual who is passionate about the sector and is looking to further their career in the immigration world, through coordinating and organising these two projects at ILPA.

You may be keen to be working at the heart of the systemic changes following Brexit, recent significant legislation, including the Nationality and Borders Act 2022, Illegal Migration Act 2023, Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Act 2024, attempts to remove people seeking asylum in the UK to Rwanda, government initiatives to “reduce net migration” such as the increased Minimum Income Requirement for family visas, the suspension of the refugee family reunion route, and the recently introduced Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill. 

You will have an interest in strategic litigation and how it can be used to protect and promote the rights of those discriminated against on the basis of their migration status. You will be passionate about being involved in the coordination of a unique and exciting project that brings the third and legal sectors together in developing strategic litigation. 

Given the complexity of immigration, asylum and nationality law, we do not expect applicants to have expertise in every area, but an understanding of the law and excellent critical analysis skills are key. Any successful applicant will be able to attend ILPA training to further their knowledge.

Main responsibilities

1. To liaise, work with, and gather evidence from ILPA and SLAC members to support advocacy and knowledge-sharing in the sector;

2. To coordinate and contribute to internal and external meetings;

3. To coordinate ILPA’s thematic working groups and SLAC meetings, including by attending evening meetings, agenda-setting, participating, drafting minutes/meeting summaries, and working with the Secretariat, ILPA’s thematic Working Group co-convenors, and SLAC’s Steering Committees to take forward agreed actions;

4. To handle queries relevant to ILPA’s thematic Working Groups and SLAC sent by members and others where appropriate, such as by forwarding these on to relevant individuals and drafting responses;

5. To manage SLAC’s Steering Committees;

6. To monitor, organise, and disseminate information, communications, and updates, which will often relate to law, policy, and litigation relevant to SLAC and ILPA’s thematic Working Groups

7. To assist with facilitating SLAC training events, and feed into the monitoring and evaluation.

About the ILPA Team

About Unfold

Unfold is an established local charity supporting young people and families to reach their potential by identifying and achieving their goals through mentoring. We support families and young people in Westminster and its neighbouring boroughs through mentoring programmes and peer support groups for women with children.

For over 35 years, we have provided support to families and young people at risk of social exclusion. Working with trained and DBS-checked volunteers, we offer mentoring to women and children, building independence and helping people get where they want to be. We’ve also developed specialised programmes for refugees, children excluded from school, those with care experience, and families facing homelessness.

About the Role

The Programme Manager is responsible for the development, management and delivery of Unfold’s Broadening Horizons mentoring programme and peer support groups for children and young people aged 10–25.

The role includes managing a team of four (Senior Programme Officers and Programme Officers), ensuring effective planning and delivery of mentoring programmes in line with agreed strategies and workplans. You will oversee the development of specialised programmes, including mentoring for refugees, young people seeking asylum, those excluded from mainstream education, and those with care experience.

The Programme Manager will monitor performance, manage resources, ensure compliance with Unfold’s policies and procedures, and report regularly to the Deputy CEO and Board of Trustees. This is a fixed term maternity cover role (anticipating approx. 9 months) supporting ASAP’s duty representation scheme at the Asylum Support Tribunal (AST) – one of our three key strands of work.

Working within our duty scheme team, you will assist our Acting Duty Scheme Co-ordinator and Duty Scheme Support Officer with key operational tasks, ensuring that the scheme is offering a quality service to appellants and referrers and that our duty scheme advocates (volunteer solicitors and barristers) are supported to provide high quality legal representation and advice.

After induction and training, you will give one-off guidance and support to people within the asylum support system who self-refer to ASAP, and to referring advice agencies, about the asylum support appeals process. You will also assist with decisions about which cases we represent. As with all team members, you will feed into our wider work on training, asylum support policy and strategic litigation – primarily by ensuring that colleagues are kept up to date with issues arising out of appeals at the Tribunal.

We’re looking for someone passionate about helping people seeking asylum in the UK access justice. You should be well-organised, a good team player, and have a solid understanding of the asylum support system—ideally from directly advising people who use it.
