About the role:
This role is based in our Islington office with the flexibility of hybrid working, travel will also be required to other VS offices across London.
As a Children & Young People's Caseworker, you will be required to:
- Conduct comprehensive needs and risk assessments and ensure each CYP receives an individual tailored support package that fully meets their identified needs, including safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support.
- Provide one to one support to children and young people living in families affected by domestic abuse.
- Effectively manage a caseload of different risk level cases of approx. 12-15 young people and provide specialist support to reduce the risk and increase safety
- Review the assessment of risk on an ongoing basis, ensuring appropriate and immediate action is taken in respect of any CYP facing significant harm, making the necessary referrals to MARAC and local safeguarding processes as required given the legal framework relating to the protection of children and the policy and procedures of the Local Safeguarding Children's Board.
- To consult with and involve children and young people in making decisions about themselves and the development of the service.
- Establish links with relevant statutory partners in Social Care, Education, Health, Police and Housing, with the intention of supporting children and young people who have been impacted by domestic abuse. Attend meetings as required.
- To advocate on behalf of children and young people with experience of domestic abuse to ensure the diverse needs of children and young people using the service are met.
You will need to have the following essential skills:
- Experience of working directly with vulnerable children and young people aged 4 - 17, on a one to one basis, with a proven ability to work in creative and appropriate ways to engage with children and young people
- Experience with assessing risk and taking appropriate action to safeguard children and young people experiencing domestic abuse.
- An understanding of the current issues for children and young people experiencing crime, domestic abuse and relationship abuse
- Experience of delivering effective multi-agency and partnership work, including building relationships with statutory and voluntary CYP service providers

The Detention Outreach Caseworker is a full-time post on a 12-month renewable contract, joining a small team at the JRS UK offices in Wapping, working closely with the Detention Outreach Manager.
The JRS UK Detention Outreach project supports individuals who are detained in the Heathrow Immigration Removal Centres (Harmondsworth and Colnbrook). This busy and varied role focuses on combining accompaniment, practical support, and assistance to those in immigration detention, especially those who are most vulnerable and struggle to self-advocate. The Detention Outreach Caseworker will make referrals to solicitors and partner organisations where appropriate and liaise with Immigration Services, detention centre staff and others as needed.
The Detention Outreach Caseworker will occasionally support individuals who are released from, but continue to be affected by, immigration detention. Through relationships built across the NGO sector, they will refer individuals to local organisations who can most appropriately assist with reintegration into the community. They will provide in-depth and pro-active support to high-need individuals supported in detention who continue to require long-term accompaniment on release.
The Detention Outreach Caseworker will be responsible for managing their own caseload and work closely with the Detention Outreach Manager to identify themes and trends arising from immigration detention to contribute to the organisations wider strategic work. The post-holder should have a good understanding of and empathy with the issues and challenges faced by asylum-seekers and refugees, with particular focus on immigration detention. Role purpose
Our new Household Crisis Caseworker position will work alongside our Crisis Alternative Service, Ealing Safe Space and information and advice service, Pathways. This new service provides support for Ealing residents 18+ who are experiencing household crises such as: housing, debt, welfare benefits, employment. This service aims to support those facing cost of living / household crises, by providing 6-12 casework sessions. This service will primarily support those from low-income households in need, pensioners, unpaid carers, care leavers, single-person households, disabled people and those struggling with one-off financial concerns or unforeseen circumstances. These sessions will cover a range of elements and will aid in navigating and liaising with services. Ultimately, preventing further crises relating to cost of living and empowering individuals by providing self-advocacy tools and support plans.
The role of the caseworker will be to provide advice, guidance and navigation to Ealing residents experiencing cost of living and household crises exacerbating mental health struggles. Support offered to each individual will be person-centred and tailored, but may include: liaising with statutory services (housing officers, social workers, mental health teams etc), supporting with form filling, sourcing warm goods, supporting with grants and income maximisation, emergency applications, empowering individuals with self-advocacy skills, signposting etc.
The successful candidate will triage, onboard and manage a caseload 15-20 individuals, whilst also supporting those who drop-in to the service who require crisis intervention on the day. In addition to crisis work, the caseworker will be expected to adopt a preventative approach and encourage referrals before a crisis occurs, via partnership working both internally and externally. There will be an element of outreach working for this post. The successful candidate will work alongside our Ealing Safe Space team and be supported by the Safe Space Team Manager.

About this key role
You will work with participants to conduct a comprehensive initial assessment of their employment and wider needs, and then co-develop and regularly review action plans, supporting individuals to carry out actions through one-to-one and group motivational advice and guidance. We will also count on you to lead a team of Peer Advisors and Volunteers to deliver flexible and supportive services to individuals with complex needs, aimed at improving their employability and helping them transition into sustainable employment.
You will provide day-to-day supervision, support and guidance to the team, allocating work and carrying out your own direct work with participants, while also organising the promotion of the project, establishing and developing partnerships to create pathways for participants to join the project. Developing excellent relationships with colleagues and local stakeholders and identifying wider local services that can provide support to participants are also key duties.

Role summary
The London Support Programme (LSP) is a pilot service delivered by the Hardman Trust, providing pre- and post-release support to people on long sentences who are returning to London. This first year of delivery has enabled us to begin offering support, and we are now refining the programme for its next stage.
We are recruiting two part-time, Prison Caseworkers to deliver frontline support, ensuring that people serving long sentences continue to receive consistent, personalised help in preparing for release and rebuilding their lives.
As a Prison Caseworker, you will provide one-to-one, person-centred support focused on wellbeing, confidence-building, and preparation for life after release.
You will support people to set meaningful goals, connect with services, and problem-solve challenges along the way.
The role involves building trusting relationships, promoting the programme across the prison, keeping accurate records, and contributing to the continued development of this pilot into a sustainable, long-term service.
You will be managed and supported by the Head of Service Delivery.
Core responsibilities

One-to-one support delivery – Provide tailored support to people in prison signed up to the LSP, including initial support planning, goal-setting, problem-solving and referrals to both internal (e.g. Grants, Research Volunteers, Penfriends) and external services.

Remote support – Provide light-touch support to LSP participants released from prison, during their initial weeks of resettlement, using telephone/video calls, and email to check in, offer guidance, and help address early challenges.

Service promotion – Actively promote the LSP within pilot and potential partner prisons to increase sign-ups and engagement.

Administration – Keep accurate, timely records of support activities and outcomes using Salesforce and NOMIS systems.

Service development – Support the Head of Service Delivery by contributing learning and feedback from frontline delivery, to inform the ongoing refinement of the programme model and resources.

Your role will be to provide young person centred holistic support – including everything from helping clients to understand their own behaviour and its consequences, and promoting change, to helping clients’ families to support them and providing practical help with attending appointments, education, training and employment options, housing, benefits, debt and other aspects of day-to-day living. You’ll be part of a client focused SOS Team delivering casework services, predominantly Monday-Friday during office hours, and within Islington (although other hours and deployments may be required).
