About the Role

Working at an enhanced practice level with support from senior colleagues to deliver a co-ordinated and comprehensive specialist dementia service to patients and their families/carers.

This will include developing knowledge, skills and experience with support from senior colleagues to undertake independent and autonomous practice: comprehensive holistic assessments, agreeing specialist palliative treatment management plans and advance care planning to be delivered through community and out-patient settings. 

The post holder will develop to become an expert role model, supporting senior colleagues to deliver education and advice regarding dementia care issues to other health and social care professionals. Working with all members of the Hospice Dementia Team to stimulate and direct the development of clinical practice across the local community.

There is a genuine occupational requirement for the post holder to drive and have access to appropriate transport during the course of normal duties.

As our Senior Social Media Community Executive, you’ll engage, activate, and retain our social media communities. You’ll be proactive in raising our brand, building community, and driving conversation. You’ll be joining a team of community managers who are the voice of the British Heart Foundation on our social channels.

Adhering to brand, tone of voice, and community guidelines, you’ll use your experience and knowledge of social media communities across a variety of platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok. Being brave, you will jump on trends coming through from earned conversation. You’ll build relationships with our partners, sponsors and influencers and provide excellent information and support to our community. 

You’ll be part of a Social Media team that also manage the social strategy, calendar planning, content management and advocacy. Across the charity, there will be a wealth of BHF experts to work with, from Cardiac Nurses and Researchers to Nutritionists.

Working arrangements

This is a 12-month fixed term contract.

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London Office.

About you
 
As our perfect candidate, you bring solid experience and/or knowledge of community management and customer service for social media with experience of working professionally with a variety of platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok. 

Diplomatic, brave, and empathetic, you have proven experience of community management, moderation, customer support and crisis management.

Able to follow brand guidelines, tone of voice, and community guidelines, you have experience of social listening platforms, social copywriting, and running social media for a complex portfolio in a matrix organisation or professional environment.

A motivated and ambitious individual with excellent organisational, and interpersonal skills, you have excellent customer facing communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to use your own initiative to problem-solve.

Responsibilities of the role  

• Be a point of contact for all challenge participants and community fundraisers.

• Provide exceptional stewardship support and execute creative fundraising ideas to help participants reach their fullest potential.

• Work with fundraising platforms to create automated workflows and streamlined user journey. 

• Lead the ‘Noise Makers’ to deliver Global’s staff income target by helping to implement a variety of exciting and lucrative fundraising activities in all Global’s offices across the UK 

• Be the dedicated point of contact with Global’s People & Culture (HR) team to deliver internal fundraising operations relating to Make Some Noise Day.

• Work with the marketing team to design and deliver first-rate supporter care and resources for activities.

• Ensure accurate records are maintained on our fundraising databases, and assist with account administration including invoices, payments, contracts, processes and reporting.

• Write-up post-project reports and analysis, suggesting areas of improvement.

• Manage budgets, looking for efficiencies and proactively spotting fundraising opportunities.

• Oversee quarterly invoicing and stewardship of community recycling partners.

• Support with stewardship of partners and high-value-supporters, such as co-ordinating gift-in-kind donations, volunteering opportunities and studio tours for VIP guests.

• Identify, propose and develop fundraising opportunities within defined communities, such as schools and universities. 

• Provide colleagues with ad-hoc administrative support, such as responding to enquiries, minute-taking, invoicing, contracts and stocktakes, and support with prizes, event materials and marketing assets. 

What you will need  
 
The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following: 

• Background: Experience of challenge events or community fundraising - ideally in a charity, media or client-focused environment.

• Planning: You’ll be highly organised, with demonstrable experience of working under pressure, often to tight deadlines.

• Community: You’ll be able to exercise empathy, patience and consistency when dealing with supporters. 

• Relationships & interpersonal skills: You’ll be an excellent communicator with the ability to build rapport, relate to others and improve potential from relationships – over the phone, via email and face to face. 

• Attention to detail: An excellent level of literacy is crucial, along with an error-free ethic, double checking your work and eliminating mistakes and typos before sending on. 

• Systems: Ideally, you’ll have experience using online fundraising platforms (e.g. Just Giving and Enthuse) and will have a general understanding of how online ticketing and auction platforms work. 

• Writing: You’ll be confident in writing with a high standard of literacy and strong attention to detail. 

• Learning: You’ll have a desire for continuous learning of best fundraising practice.

• Numeracy: Strong numeracy with experience of using formula in Excel; managing budgets, on the look-out to raise the maximum amount of money for the greatest return, and the sense to take action when figures don’t look right. 

• Proactivity: A proactive thinker, always looking to spot opportunities and using your initiative to spot issues before they occur.

About Women in Prison

Women in Prison is a national, women-led, feminist organisation. We deliver front line support to women harmed by the criminal justice system, through our work in prisons, in the community and ‘through the prison gate’ as they resettle back into their communities. We also campaign for systems change that addresses the root causes of offending, reduces the harmful impact of prison, and creates workable, community-based alternatives to imprisonment.

Job Description:

Duties and Key Responsibilities:

1. Client Care: provide high-quality, trauma-responsive advocacy and emotional and practical support to women in contact with, or at risk of being in contact with the criminal justice system
2. Monitoring and Evaluation: accurately document all client interaction on Women in Prison’s case management database, working in line with Women in Prison’s case management policy at all times
3. Communication: develop and utilise a variety of strategies to communicate effectively with women using our services, colleagues, external organisations, stakeholders and the general public

Role Summary

As the Director of Research and Public Affairs you lead a team working across the full range of research work (including commissioning, grant-making and in-house research) and public affairs work (including policy analysis, advocacy work and mobilising our activists). You also contribute to the charity’s strategies, leadership and governance as a member of the Executive Team. Ultimately, your role is to generate new knowledge; and communicate knowledge, ideas and emotions to change hearts and minds, creating tangible reductions in alcohol harm across the UK.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Leadership, strategy & planning

1. Lead the research and public affairs functions at Alcohol Change UK.

2. Produce and deliver plans across our research and public affairs work programmes that are ambitious for change (impact), realistic given our resources, and consistent with our strategy, our other work programmes, and our values.

3. Set budgets, tightly control costs and identify opportunities for making savings, growing income and making the case for investment.

4. Appropriately monitor and evaluate our research and public affairs work with a view to knowing, growing and showing the impact we make.

Research

5. Work closely with the CEO, Policy and Research Manager, R&P sub-committee and Wales Office to determine and oversee the charity’s programme of commissioned research, research grants, and in-house research.

6. Ensure that all research is designed with impact-in-mind and, once complete, that it delivers on that impact through active and ongoing communication of the findings to the right audiences with the right messages through the right channels.

7. Lead the research function to be the central hub for the charity on the topic of alcohol harm and its solutions, staying on top of new research.

8. Influence the research spending of other agencies (e.g. NIHR) with a view to maximising funding into alcohol research in general.

Public Affairs

9. Lead and manage the charity’s public affairs activity, deploying the CEO, Research & Policy Officer and other staff as a team.

10.  Lead our work with external alliances, such as the Alcohol Health Alliance and the Alcohol and Families Alliance, and on the APPG on Alcohol Harm.

11.  Develop excellent relationships with Parliamentarians, civil servants, charities and other important institutional actors in our field.

12.  Build Campaigner journeys for our engagement audience to best mobilise them to help us with our influencing work.

13.  Lead on the commissioning and management of any external public affairs agencies, parliamentary monitoring services and similar suppliers.

14.  Ensure our policy positions are kept up-to-date, based on emerging evidence and contemporary thinking, and consistent with our principles.

15.  Work closely with the Director of Engagement and Fundraising to effectively mobilise and deploy our activists, Community Champions and other supporters so they (i) make a difference, (ii) become better informed over time, and (iii) remain motivated to campaign for our cause.

16.  Work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications to influence all forms of media to better support our desired outcomes.

Team Leadership and Management

17.  Lead and manage the research and public affairs team(s), ensuring excellent line management.

18.  Lead the process of recruiting and inducting new team members, as appropriate.

19.  Proactively develop your own skills and experience as well as those of staff within your team.

Cross-organisational Role

20.  Act as a spokesperson for the charity at high profile events and across media, including radio and TV.

21.  Be an active and positive member of the charity’s Executive Team.

22.  Work with colleagues across the charity to support their work and to act as ‘one team’.

23.  Work particularly closely with colleagues in the Wales office, optimising opportunities for joint working.

24.  Contribute actively and positively to the development of charity-wide strategies and activity.

25.  Continually develop your knowledge of alcohol harm and solutions to it.

26.  Act as a positive ambassador for Alcohol Change UK at all times.

About the Role 

As the Head of Programmes, you will take on a strategic leadership role, managing the team of Programme Managers and deputising for the CEO when required. You will ensure each programme flourishes while encouraging collaboration across teams and with external partners to meet our ambitious objectives. This is a hybrid role, allowing you to work from home and travel to see our programmes in action nationwide.

We are seeking an exceptional communicator and versatile senior leader committed to providing quality opportunities for disadvantaged children. You must have: 

• Proven success line managing senior programme staff and a dispersed workforce 
• Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and forecasting 
• Working with the Impact and Learning Lead to ensure broad and deep understanding and implementation of our Theory of Change and our values, that evaluation and learning are embedded throughout the organisation and that we are known for the quality of our reporting, with all our activities and reporting informed by meaningful data. 
• To identify and develop key partnerships to enable us to extend our reach and our impact. 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills 
• Confidence and competence to act at Board level and deputise for CEO

• A collaborative approach suited to a dynamic team environment

The Volunteering Team is a collaborative and supportive team sitting within Shelter’s Equity, Inclusion & Culture Directorate. We are passionate about the positive impacts of volunteering for both individuals and causes and believe volunteers are a vital part of Shelter’s Fight for Home.

Shelter involves around 2,000 volunteers in our shops, offices and local communities. The Volunteering Team enable a coordinated and consistent approach to how we involve volunteers across Shelter and Shelter Scotland. We provide the insight, policies and best practice approaches to ensure all our volunteers have a quality volunteering experience.

About the Role

As a Volunteering Administrator, you will be essential to the coordination of the Volunteering Team’s work in developing a consistent, inclusive and high-quality volunteering offer. You’ll be delivering administrative support across the team, enabling smooth delivery of the service. This will include managing our busy Mailboxes, processing elements of volunteer recruitment and administrating our volunteer database, Better Impact. Working on the database forms a large part of this role; as well as routine tasks such as data reporting, you’ll be working on more in-depth database development. This includes leading on a piece of work restructuring the way our database is set up.

You’ll also be supporting volunteer managers through delivering training demonstrations on our database, creating process guides and providing advice. You’ll provide additional admin support across the Volunteering Team, including coordinating meetings and managing agendas. You’ll be a key member of the team with in-depth knowledge and understanding on volunteering processes and policies to promote our volunteering culture across Shelter and Shelter Scotland.

With this role, we can offer the option of completing an apprenticeship in a related subject. This will involve spending approximately 20% of your work time completing education/learning for the duration of the apprenticeship. We welcome applications both with and without interest in the apprenticeship.

About you

Having strong administration skills with confident use of databases is essential for this role. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership in processes, including introducing and delivering new ideas, methods or processes. Having a proactive approach and the ability to manage time effectively while working in a fast-paced environment are all important too.

Also important for this role is having excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues across our organisation. Experience of delivering training or presentations is a bonus, but more-so a willingness to develop your skills in this area. Position Summary

We are in search of a Chief Operating Officer (COO) adept at turning strategic visions into operational realities. The COO will oversee daily operations throughout the sanctuary, ensuring excellence in health and safety practices, and fostering high team performance and growth. As a key partner to the CEO, this role demands a leader skilled in operational management and strategy implementation, preferably with experience in the third sector and a deep commitment to animal welfare.

Objectives of the role

1. Strategic implementation and operational leadership - working in close partnership with the CEO to integrate strategic objectives into the organisation's day-to-day operations. This will include focusing on enhancing process efficiency, ensuring operational excellence and maintaining budgetary control connected to operational issues.

2. Developing high performing teams – driving team excellence through targeted recruitment, comprehensive onboarding, ongoing professional development, and robust performance management strategies, ensuring team cohesion and high retention rates

3. Ensuring regulatory compliance and safety - maintaining rigorous adherence to all relevant charity and health & safety regulations, proactively ensuring a safe environment for staff, volunteers, visitors and our equines.

4. Fostering a supportive culture - creating a work environment where commitment to our sanctuary's values and alignment with our vision and mission inspire and unite our teams.

5. Acting as a deputy for the CEO - representing the charity and making decisions in the CEO’s absence, ensuring leadership continuity and organisational stability.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

· Evaluating internal operations to identify and implement efficiency improvements

· Developing and implementing policies (in collaboration with the CEO and Trustees) that support the sanctuary's goals and ensure operational alignment.

· Overseeing daily operations across the estate, including visitor facilities, barn and paddock maintenance, and health and safety compliance, ensuring a safe environment for staff, volunteers, visitors and equines.

· Directly overseeing the performance of our teams in Visitor Experience, Volunteering, Estates and Facilities, ensuring these areas not only operate efficiently but also focus on creating exceptional experiences for visitors and volunteers. This includes working closely with HR to foster successful recruitment, professional development, and other HR initiatives to build and sustain high-performing teams.

· Ensuring the sanctuary is ready and welcoming for visitors each day, effectively monitored and managed throughout the day and securely closed at night

· Health and safety leadership - spearheading safety initiatives and training a skilled team in safety protocols, ensuring a secure and safe environment for staff, volunteers, visitors and over 130 donkeys and ponies. The COO will work closely with the Head of Facilities and Estates Supervisor to enforce health and safety policies, address safety issues, as well as ensuring readiness and responsiveness for critical incidents, including fire and medical emergencies.

· Serving as the deputy for the CEO, including leading the sanctuary in the CEO’s absence, making critical decisions, and managing external relationships.

The above role encompasses an understanding that the sanctuary operates seven days a week and requires a willingness to work weekends and evenings as needed to ensure continuous leadership and operational excellence.

Reporting structure

Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO will have the following direct reports: Head of Estates, Visitor Experience Manager, and Volunteer Manager.

Required skills and Experience

· A strong ethical commitment to animal welfare, demonstrated through previous work or personal advocacy, with the desire to make a positive impact in the community and beyond.

· A track record of managing operations effectively, demonstrating the ability to oversee day-to-day activities

· Proven experience in translating strategy into actionable plans

· Proven effectiveness in managing diverse teams and working with volunteers, highlighting the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of contributors towards common goals.

· Experience in budgeting, data analysis and using performance metrics to guide decisions.

· Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and the agility to respond to unforeseen challenges, particularly in animal welfare contexts.

· A collaborative approach to working with key stakeholders, including the CEO, to ensure alignment with the organisation's goals.

Desirable:

· Experience within a non-profit organisation and familiarity with the regulatory environment specific to the charity sector, including health & safety standards and compliance.

About you:

We’re looking for an experienced events fundraiser or someone with substantial experience in a comparable transferable field, with experience in project management and the end-to-end development and delivery of events.

You’ll be a confident communicator with strong marketing experience and focused on exceptional supporter experience whilst being accomplished at building great relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Combined with excellent organisation and time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities whilst keeping to deadlines, you’ll bring your knowledge, creativity and new ideas to help continue to shape the future of our Bespoke Events team.

You will be adept at using data and insight to identify potential areas of growth and be a proactive self-starter, responsible for the end-to-end development and delivery of the events you manage and be comfortable analysing performance and making recommendations for change where necessary.

We are a well-established and well-respected local charity. We have had an active fundraising function in the past, but due to a change of personnel, this has been inactive for over a year. Main objectives of the role:

• To work with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement a fundraising strategy for Beacon Counselling that increases income and support for the charity in furtherance of Beacon’s charitable objectives.

This senior role will manage and oversee OTR’s Wellbeing services, which include our listening support and counselling offerings for young people in the community and at schools, colleges, and universities across BaNES, and will also include our new social prescribing service.

The post holder will be part of OTR’s senior management team (SMT), working closely with the Head of Voice Services and Head of Resources as well as the CEO to actively oversee the growth and development of the organisation, and delivery of our strategy.
