About the role:
The Achieving Potential programme at SHP supports SHP clients with options and opportunities to build their confidence, learn new skills and try new things. We are recruiting to an exciting new post within our team, having recently secured funding to take forward our digital inclusion offer.
People experiencing homelessness are often from the most socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds and are digitally excluded. Digital access is crucial for peoples’ independence – e.g. accessing Universal Credit or GPs, but it’s also fundamental in addressing isolation and loneliness. Feeling connected to others can be the difference between someone continuing their journey out of homelessness or falling back into drug-use due to isolation/loneliness – we want to break the vicious cycle between digital and social exclusion.
As the Digital Inclusion Project Coordinator, your objectives will be to spearhead initiatives aimed at increasing digital inclusion within SHP’s diverse communities. This multifaceted role requires a blend of strategic planning, community engagement, technological proficiency, and environmental stewardship. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders from both withing SHP and externally to develop and implement sustainable solutions that bridge the digital divide and minimize the environmental impact of electronic waste.
About you:
- Demonstrated experience in community outreach, project management, and stakeholder engagement, preferably in the fields of digital inclusion, sustainability, or social justice.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to engage with diverse audiences and communicate complex concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
- Strong analytical skills and creative problem-solving abilities to identify barriers, develop innovative solutions, and address complex challenges related to digital exclusion and e-waste management.
- Willingness to embrace change, navigate ambiguity, and adapt strategies in response to evolving priorities, emerging trends, and feedback from stakeholders and community members.
- Confidence to promote the benefits of the digital world and to challenge traditional silos and system barriers, as well as the ability to use different approaches and methods of communication with different stakeholder in order to achieve this
- The willingness and ability to provide flexible support, including support in the community and a variety of settings
- Proven ability to cultivate and maintain productive partnerships with different agencies, non-profit organizations, businesses, and other stakeholders to leverage resources

Our centres provide an innovative education programme which includes practical learning support and motivational and confidence-building activities for children and young people aged 7-18. Our aim is to inspire students from the least advantaged neighbourhoods to broaden their horizons and achieve their full potential. As the UK’s leading university access organisation, our staff team is helping thousands of young people each year. We have forty-one centres and extension projects across England and Scotland, with ambitious plans to scale-up our provision further over the coming years.
Currently, we have two permanent Centre Leader vacancies in our network, one based in Leeds and one based in Nottingham.
As a Centre Leader, you will have responsibility for running your IntoUniversity centre, including managing your team, planning and delivering the programme, liaising with external stakeholders and meeting IntoUniversity’s targets for delivery. As a charity with social mobility as its core objective, IntoUniversity is wholly committed to equality of opportunity. We work with children and young people from a diverse range of backgrounds, and we believe that our staff team should be similarly diverse and representative.
The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be,and we recognise that we have much more to do in this regard. We are committed to building a culture where students, staff and volunteers are valued for the unique people they are. We therefore encourage applications from candidates from as wide a range as possible of ethnic, cultural and social backgrounds. In particular, we actively and warmly welcome applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates, male candidates and candidates with a disability as they are currently under-represented within IntoUniversity.
If you believe that all young people deserve the chance to develop their talents regardless of their background and want to play a part in helping them succeed, then we would be delighted to hear from you.

At Bexley Voluntary Service Council (BVSC), you will find a team who are absolutely committed to supporting a strong, sustainable, and influential voluntary and community sector that can make a positive impact on people’s lives in Bexley.
We work hard, we help each other and go out of way to help others and find solutions rather than focusing on problems. We are positive and proactive and, although absolutely focused on our areas of expertise, we work as a team so that BVSC is the best it can be. Above all, everything we do is to strengthen our local Voluntary and Community Sector.
We are looking for a dynamic individual to take on the day-to-day running of the Digital Champions project and network. Digital Champions are volunteers who inspire and motivate others to get online, while encouraging and supporting them to develop their digital skills and confidence. As the project continues to evolve, there will be an increased focus on Digital Champions placed in local health care settings across the borough. Digital Champions will operate at local community venues including Community Pharmacies, Phlebotomy clinics, and at community events, with a strong focus on NHS App promotion to Bexley residents. This is an opportunity to be at the centre of an exciting, innovative partnership project, working closely with the statutory and voluntary sector partners in taking the scheme into a new phase of development. If you are an individual passionate about community development and ensuring that digital inclusion remains an important part of the agenda in Bexley, we would love to hear from you.
Key Duties:
- To be the first point of contact for the existing network of Digital Champions in the borough, and support organisations to recruit, onboard and manage new Digital Champions.
- To directly manage a pool of Digital Champions under BVSC and lead on recruitment, onboarding, and training.
- To organise regular online and face-to-face meetings for Digital Champions.
- To develop and implement a communications plan that raises awareness of the Digital Champions Network in Bexley and of the challenges and opportunities digital inclusion presents.
- To explore new opportunities with partners and the sector more broadly in a way that aims to expand the digital champions project and create a more digitally inclusive culture for Bexley residents.
- To organise regular events, training and information sessions for Digital Champions based on needs.
- To collect data and write reports on the project for presentation to partnership committees and health and wellbeing boards.
- To represent Bexley Digital Champions at London-wide and national forums and conferences.
- Attend staff meetings, supervision and training as required.
- Identify, report, and monitor any safeguarding concerns in accordance with the latest local procedures relating to the appropriate service.
- To comply with, and share responsibility for ensuring the implementation of, BVSC policies and procedures and key legislation such as GDPR and Safeguarding.
- Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be assigned from time-to-time including travel throughout the borough to attend events, answer phone enquiries, occasionally on evenings/weekends, meet with volunteers and organisations.
- To support the Volunteer Centre on an adhoc basis with events, phone line queries and other general activities.
These are the normal duties which are required of the position; however, we do require that all staff be flexible and may be required to perform other duties to ensure the efficient running of services.
Please note that the base for this role is Engine House, Bexley, and will involve regular travel throughout the London Borough of Bexley.
