AAFDA was founded by Frank Mullane in memory of his sister Julia Pemberton and her son Will who were both killed by her ex-partner in 2003.
Each year, around 150 families lose a loved one to domestic homicide. The actual number of suicides as a result of domestic abuse remains unknown. Most of these families suffer significant problems including relationship breakdown, job difficulties/loss and mental and physical health issues. We help these families in many ways, our prime function being to provide families in England and Wales with specialist peer support and expert and specialist advocacy for the range of statutory reviews that will take place after domestic homicide.
AAFDA (Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse) is a growing Charity and to meet the demands of this growth, we are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our team in a highly rewarding opportunity. Although home based, some travel will be required - frequency will be commensurate to the role. We welcome applications from candidates with experience of domestic abuse. Our Specialist Advocates support families impacted by fatal domestic abuse through provision of lay advocacy for and on behalf of families with a range of statutory service providers (e.g. those conducting reviews and inquiries, social services, police, housing) and work to build good relations between all parties. To ensure that families get the support they need, you will use AAFDA’s Home Office endorsed seven-step approach to working with individuals and families, to ensure that they receive the best possible support and advocacy to restore dignity and relief for families and to help them cope and recover. Through trauma-informed approaches, you will:
- listen to families and advocate for them in a complex system that too often treats them as passive participants and overlooks the value of their insight;
- provide information, support, guidance, advice and advocacy on Domestic Homicide Reviews, Mental Health Reviews, Inquests, Independent Office of Police Conduct inquiries and other types of Inquiries;
- manage families’ expectations of the legal and procedural processes facing them by supporting families in meetings with agencies such as health, police and local authorities;
- give families practical help on a wide range of issues - including help with letter writing or advocating with employers and local authorities on the families’ behalf;
- Support AAFDA in our bringing families together in AAFDA’s peer support events, such as the Hear Our Voice weekend and the on-line peer support Zoom sessions, where families can speak with others to share their experiences and stories. This will involve occasional evening work.
This role is offered on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities
Raising the profile of the Foundation by implementing an imaginative and inspiring programme in Marketing and Communications under the direction of the Head of Business Development.
Work with Head of Grants and Programmes to plan and timetable promotion of new grants programmes and regular promotion of ongoing programmes. Working at times with external marketing and comms teams to agree key messaging.
Compile and share a range of inspiring donor, charity and community stories and case studies which bring to life the Foundation’s impact.
Support, maintain and update the Foundation’s website, ensuring that it is inspiring, engaging and up to date with content. Help set up and access additional platforms as required e.g. online donations, raffles, other Trusts who are contracted to the Foundation.
Develop the Foundation’s wider digital presence through social media and use of content marketing to raise awareness of the Foundation’s expertise, share good news stories and promote available funding e.g. through regular charity and business newsletters.
Under the guidance and leadership of the Head of BD and CEO provide specific public relations support, including preparing press releases and producing articles for local magazines and relevant publications.
Maintain a library of relevant and up to date marketing materials, photographs illustrating the Foundation’s work and partnership logos and guidance for use. Manage permissions and GDPR for all communications work and marketing collateral.
Attend UK Community Foundations (UKCF) Marcomms meetings.
Work with the CEO to prepare and manage quarterly Board meetings for Foundation and as required other partners (incl JCT) at an executive admin level.
Preparing for meetings: prep of papers, managing dates and availability; minute taking and general administration for Board level members under clear and strict requirements around confidentiality.
Regular updating of requirements of Board incl: EDI data and references; annual Conflict of Interest; DBS and other requirements.
Supporting Chair of Trustee in their role as required and in an administrative support.
Support general office administration such as maintenance of equipment inventories and training records and PAT testing schedules and others task to ensure smooth running of the main office.
Organize events to showcase the Foundation’s work, including functions for donors, potential donors, community and voluntary groups.
Support the Head of Business development to identified campaigns and additional programmes to grow the Foundations reach. Work with Head of BD to write creative briefs and to shape to recruit additional capacity as required.
Work as an effective Ambassador for the Foundation always, including at events and external networking.
Represent the Foundation on agreed marketing and Comms networks incl UKCF and others to be agreed.
Work closely with other members of the team to ensure that the Foundation achieves excellence in grant-making and all its operational aspects.
Represent the Foundation externally as required.
Use computer equipment and software for administrative and communication duties including Canva, new website CMS, Microsoft Office, online communications, and the Salesforce Database.
Carry out other associated duties, which may arise, develop, or be assigned, in line with the scale and general nature of the post.

The Family Services Coordinator is responsible for providing families (parents/carers and children up to ten years) affected by cleft with opportunities to access accurate information, connect with each other and form supportive communities. Job Description
The First Contact Navigators play a central role in the CARA team, ensuring that our service users and other agencies receive a high-quality service from the moment of first contact. You will work as part of a wider team of First Contact Navigators across Essex and the post liaises with clients, the CARA team and external agencies, providing advice, support and information.
The First Contact Navigator will engage with individuals who are experiencing, or who have experienced, sexual violence and or sexual abuse who require information, signposting and short-term support. You will be the first contact and conduct first meetings, managing your own caseload and co-ordinating personalised support for individuals on their pathway to wellbeing. You will have strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to work under minimal supervision. You will support people who use CARA services to make informed decisions about their wellbeing, maximising their independence and engaging in appropriate community or clinical resources. You will work collaboratively with service users, the CARA team and other professional agencies to navigate and coordinate services.
The main responsibilities of the post are:
• To act as a first point of contact for new referrals and enquiries, providing information, emotional support, advice and signposting.
• To complete first contact calls and assessments with clients over the telephone.
• To ensure information about new referrals/enquiries is accurately recorded on CARA’s database in real time.
• To work collaboratively and build trust with service users, agencies, personal and professional support networks to collate relevant information to effect individualised support requirements.
• To assess and engage service users not currently engaged in appropriate specialist sexual violence services.
• To seek and respond to referrals from a variety of internal and external sources.
• To assist survivors and relatives/supporters of survivors in understanding the range of resources and services available to them.

Who will I be changing the lives of?
All of our learners are aged between 16-25 years, have some level of additional need and as a result have an Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Some of the most common areas of need that our learners experience are Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH), Autism (ASC), ADHD although we work with learners with a much broader range of needs.
Main Responsibilities
- To be responsible for a caseload of learners with EHCP's aged 16-25 years
- To act as the main point of contact for staff and services with SEND related queries
- To arrange and carry out Annual Reviews and PEP’s as well as completion and submission of all relevant paperwork, acting as chair for these meetings when required
- To assist the Change Leader with the transition process for learners starting at Really NEET as well as those learners leaving Really NEET
- Responsible for over-seeing the progression of learners on completion of the course
- Promote Inclusion best practice and contribute to the aims and ethos of the college

This is an exciting opportunity for a Service Manager to join our Norfolk and Suffolk team to help support the growth of our services. You will be working closely with our SEN and Mental Health and Wellbeing teams as well as the Operational Manager to deliver high quality and innovative services to families and communities.
Ideally you will have at least 3 years’ experience of working in a mental health or SEN environment in a people management role. You will need to be a team player but able to work autonomously as well and have the ability to prioritise workload and deadlines.
You will need to think creatively with an understanding of funding and contractual requirements, which vary greatly over 7 different projects. You will be an excellent communicator with a good sense of humour.
Our teams are currently spread across Norfolk and West Suffolk so you will need to be able to travel independently around the counties with your main base being in our Swaffham office, although some home working may be required.
Main Requirements
· To oversee the for the planning, management and delivery of all services, ensuring that KPIs and CIPs are fully met.
· To work closely with the Operational Manager to ensure quality delivery of services provided the Norfolk/Suffolk team, staff and volunteers.
· To develop and review the practice wheels and Logic Models that outlines the structure and research basis of the service. To engage with the Family Action Communities of Practice, roadshows and other internal opportunities to ensure strategic aims and objectives are constantly developing.
· To ensure a high standard of quality assurance and professional practice across the staff, through clinical and line management supervision, case audits, the use of MIR, Scorecard and Service Level Reports drawing upon data, and provision of training opportunities.
· Support Operational Manger to explore and identify areas of service needs across Norfolk and Suffolk and to build network and integrational working partnerships to support this.
· To be instrumental in shaping the future of the services both in Norfolk and Suffolk as well as part of the wider Central Team.
· Be responsible for the overall management, mentoring and support of Service Coordinators and, where needed, other staff.
· Deliver Family Action’s formal Annual Appraisal process for all workers, either ‘parenting’ or ‘grandparenting’ as required.

As HR Business Partner, you will play a strategic role, acting as a partner to the senior leadership to enable us to deliver as effectively as possible to people with ME. Many of our 35 colleagues have direct experience of ME and, as an ME organisation, we work hard to ensure that we provide reasonable adjustments and support to enable them to make the valuable contributions they do. You will work closely with the Management Team to drive this work. You will need to develop a deep understanding of the organisation and our work, build strong, effective relationships with our colleagues and bring expertise to the various HR functions and strategic business support areas.
Key Duties
People & Culture Strategy
- Work with the senior leadership to deliver the People and Culture and the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Plans that enables the delivery of organisational goals
- Drive consistency of the implementation of the Plans
- Work with the senior leadership to review data, analyse trends, providing data-driven solutions/decisions to support cultural development. Use ongoing analysis to test the effectiveness of People and Culture interventions and processes within the organisation
- With senior leadership, manage talent and succession planning
Human Resource Management
- Provide first point of contact HR advice and support to colleagues and line managers, ensuring all instances are recorded appropriately
- Manage the compliant use of, and be first point of contact for, colleague queries on the HR IT System (currently BreatheHR)
- Support HR investigations and line managers with grievances, disciplinaries and other similar matters, recording meeting minutes and agreeing next steps.
- Liaise with the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB; provides insurance and employment legal advice) on complex HR cases that require external input, either on behalf of or alongside relevant line manager(s)
- Oversee all HR policies and procedures, being guided by relevant internal data and industry best practice, and ensuring they are regularly reviewed
- Complete all required administrative tasks for new starters and colleagues leaving the organisation
- Processing and managing of maternity, paternity, and adoption in line with policies and best practice
- Running of monthly HR reports, to include sickness auditing and dissemination of relevant data to CEO and line managers, if required
- Scope, plan and book/deliver appropriate training across the organisation and for individual employees where necessary
- Managing the recruitment lifecycle, which is to include advertising of vacancies, screening of applicants, interview diary management, referencing and document checks, onboarding coordination
- Manage and administer all changes to contractual terms and conditions with appropriate paperwork disseminated to relevant parties
- Oversee HR support for volunteers, including Trustees and Sub-Committee Lay Members
- Oversee the organisation ‘Wellbeing Weekdays’ programme (a monthly programme to support colleague contact and wellbeing)
