This is an exciting time at the Anne Frank Trust UK.
We are an education charity. Through learning about Anne Frank and the Holocaust, we empower young people aged 9 to 15 to recognise and challenge all forms of prejudice. Founded in 1991 by friends of Anne’s father Otto, we are the UK partner of the Anne Frank House Amsterdam.
We are looking to grow, building on our great achievements over the last few months:
- In 2023 we reached a record 119,000 young people through the three strands of our education programme – (i) our live online learning events open to all schools, (ii) our workshops and peer education delivered in person in schools across the country, and (iii) our ambassadors programme, which provides individual support and life-changing group opportunities for disadvantaged young people who have a long-term commitment to challenging prejudice.
- As we continuously develop our programmes, our impact is increasing, and our evidence of this impact is outstanding. The latest report from our research partners at the University of Kent shows, for example, that our positive impact on young people’s attitudes towards Jews has increased by 59% since 2019. Of our young peer educators, 83.3% make significant progress in their knowledge of prejudice, and 87.6% become more positive towards at least one other group of people different from themselves.
- In January 2024, HM Queen Camilla became our first Royal Patron.
- Nicola Cobbold, our new Chair of Trustees, brings wide-ranging operational and strategic experience from not-for-profit settings, as well as excellent networks in the Jewish community and beyond.
- Our new Development Director, Ruth Berenblut, arrived in post in October 2023, she has produced an appropriately ambitious plan for fundraising growth, and is recruiting a new team to deliver it.

About The Way Youth Zone
The Way Youth Zone is a youth-led, open access, universal state of the art space for young people aged 8-19 (up to 25 with a disability) located centrally in the vibrant and diverse city of Wolverhampton.
We are looking for a new Chair to lead and support us in this exciting next phase of the Way’s development.
What will you be doing?
The role of Chair is a stimulating and challenging role that will call on your strategic and interpersonal skills.
It provides an opportunity to work alongside an experienced and diverse team of Trustees and senior management in a rapidly changing environment to make a real difference to the young people of Wolverhampton.
The Chair provides leadership and direction to the Board of Trustees to enable the Board to fulfil its responsibilities for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, as well as oversight and scrutiny of the charity’s operations.
The role is not remunerated. However, reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out the role will be repaid.
Time Commitment
· The Board meet 6 times a year for 2 hours in the evening (5pm -7pm).
· One to one meetings with the CEO every month, ideally twice a month. These can be done remotely.
· Ad hoc communication outside of formal meetings.
· Annual Board Development Day.
· Ideally the Chair will support on at least one sub-committee (3/4 meetings a year)
· Ideally you will be able to represent The Way Youth Zone within the community including at events once or twice a year.
· The Chair is encouraged to get to know our young people by joining them on a session.

Candidates interested in the role of Lay Governor at college must be able to demonstrate commitment to Safeguarding, Strategic leadership and a passion to Further Education particularly Specialist Education. A understanding of issues facing the post 16 specialist education sector would be desirable. The role of members of the Governing Body is to provide strategic leadership, support and constructive challenge to the college senior management team to ensure that Sense College provides an excellent education experience for all students. The Governors will work with the college senior management to ensure the college offers a broad based curriculum to maximise the teaching and learning experiences of all its students, with demonstrable outcomes. Sense College East Lay Governors will attend 3 full committee meetings a year, plus 3 extra meetings for their chosen sub-committee. Meetings last from 90 minutes for sub-committees and 2 hours 30 minutes for the full committee, Lay Governors will come prepared and engaged, having done the reading the prior and ready to ask any questions they may have. Governors of Sense College have a varied role encompassing a range of duties. Much of this is undertaken through participation in the full Governing Body meetings and Sense College sub-committees according to a governor`s experience and skillset, and through college visits.
Some examples of governor duties are below, noting that these are not exclusive:
- Reviewing, approving and monitoring the implementation of the Sense College 2022-2025 Strategic Plan
- Approving the final Sense College Annual Self-Assessment Report (SAR)
- Reviewing and monitoring progress and outcomes from the Sense College Quality Improvement Plan (QuIP)
- Reviewing students’ progress and achievements through a range of products i.e. case studies, reports and visits to Sense College
- Reviewing college data against Key Performance Indicators and dashboards.
- Participating in Ofsted inspection meetings on governance to support Sense College and the college senior management team

About the Role
We are looking for a Volunteer to assist in the running of the daily programme of activities at Headway East London. The Day Service is a new opportunity for people living with brain injury in the East London area to join our community.
Volunteering with us, you’ll get involved in the fun and creative activities going on at our Day Service. Every week is different: you could help in our art studio, assist in the kitchen or take part in a music session. You’ll be supporting our members one-to-one and in groups. You don’t need any special skills or knowledge, we’ll give you the induction you need, and support is always on hand, with regular volunteer meetings, training sessions and supervision.
Main Duties
- To help Headway staff manage the activity programme for each member by offering one-to-one support or in small groups.
- To assist members with specific activities that prove challenging for them i.e., using computers, cooking, engaging in art activities.
- To initiate discussion, games or activities and encourage members to take part.
- To help floor staff around lunch time (food preps. setting up tables, dishing out and serving food).
- To assist with keeping the Headway centre safe, clean, and tidy all times by taking on tasks such as collecting and washing cups, tidying up resources' shelves, wiping tables before lunch etc…
- To inform floor staff about activities undertaken with members and any significant changes in mood or behaviour. To take members to social events and outings and being able to assist individuals needing to use a wheelchair.
- To undergo training as required and attend volunteer debriefs and supervision. To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required.
Person Specification
- Aged 18 or over.
- Experience working with people clear and sensitive communication.
- Ability to relate well to people on a one-to-one basis and be sympathetic to others’ situations.
- Willing to participate in a variety of activities appropriate for our members.

Commitment

The role of members of the Governing Body is to provide strategic leadership, support and constructive challenge to the college senior management team to ensure that Sense College provides an excellent education experience for all students. Sense College East Lay Governors will attend 3 full committee meetings a year, plus 3 extra meetings for their chosen sub-committee. Meetings last from 90 minutes for sub-committees and 2 hours 30 minutes for the full committee, Lay Governors will come prepared and engaged, having done the reading the prior and ready to ask any questions they may have. Governors of Sense College have a varied role encompassing a range of duties. Much of this is undertaken through participation in the full Governing Body meetings and Sense College sub-committees according to a governor`s experience and skillset, and through college visits.
Some examples of governor duties are below, noting that these are not exclusive:
- Reviewing, approving and monitoring the implementation of the Sense College 2022-2025 Strategic Plan
- Approving the final Sense College Annual Self-Assessment Report (SAR)
- Reviewing and monitoring progress and outcomes from the Sense College Quality Improvement Plan (QuIP)
- Reviewing students’ progress and achievements through a range of products i.e. case studies, reports and visits to Sense College
- Reviewing college data against Key Performance Indicators and dashboards.
- Participating in Ofsted inspection meetings on governance to support Sense College and the college senior management team
- Monitoring implementation of safeguarding (SfG) procedures, keeping updated with current SfG legislation and governors Prevent responsibilities
- Monitoring college budget performance with the emphasis on new students referrals funded through the Education and Skills Funding Agency
- Attending and participating in governor training events, student celebrations and college visits

What will you be doing?
Conquest Art (CA) is a long-established charity which runs groups offering art in a conducive atmosphere for people with various health problems and challenges. At the regular sessions they can make friends and enjoy the benefits of creativity through art.
The charity has several groups in the Surrey area as well as throughout the UK. Exhibitions and promotional events take place at various times during the year.
CA seeks an addition to its small team of hands-on Trustees to assist with the management of the charity and, also, with publicity and promotional activities. Apart from good communication skills and an interest in charity governance, no special qualifications are needed.
Trustee meetings are currently held bi-monthly on Zoom.
