Job description

Head of Philanthropy & Supporter Events
£70,000 - £77,000 per annum
Dual location: London & Home based

Would you like to innovate and lead a game-changing multi-million pound income strategy for one of the UK's leading charities? Are you an experienced leader who inspires teams to grow high-value relationships and secure transformational gifts? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

About the role
This year, Macmillan’s fundraising income has been impacted heavily by the pandemic. Now is a critical time for us to revolutionise our income methods and goals, so that we can continue to provide support to the millions of people who need us now, and in the future.

In this role, you will be responsible for shaping our strategy to dramatically increase our income over the next 3-5 years, and build a strong portfolio with a large multi-million budget across high net-worth individuals, trusts, foundations and supporter events. As the technical expert, you will support and inspire your team to develop and build products, proposals and pipelines, unlocking opportunities to engage and network with high value supporters. You will also directly deliver some of these projects as well.

About you
You have a track record in developing philanthropy strategies, resulting in significant income growth. You have a proven ability to identify areas for improvement across the philanthropy portfolio to deliver higher income targets.

You have substantial experience in leading teams to secure and grow £1m+ relationships with high net-worth individuals, trusts and foundations over multiple years. You are an experienced leader who can motivate and manage a multi-disciplinary team in a high-performing culture. You have proven commercial acumen in a public or private context, and have managed multi-million pound budgets.

About us
Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest and most loved charities in the UK. We support millions of people living with cancer in the UK live life as fully as they can by providing emotional, practical and financial support.

About the process
In order to ensure fairness and consistency, and mitigate against unconscious bias, applicants personal details are hidden from hiring managers until an interview has been confirmed. In this way, shortlisting of applications is based solely upon the suitability of the candidate’s experience and ability to lead in this area of work. To ensure Macmillan is representative of those we support and who support us, we particularly welcome applications from Disabled, BAME and LGBTQ+ candidates, as these people are under-represented in our organisation at this level.

The deadline for applications is Tuesday 1st December at 11.59pm. Virtual interviews will start from 10th December.
