Being a Community, Events and Corporate Manager at St Wilfrid's

St Wilfrid’s Hospice is looking for a motivated Community, Events and Corporate Manager, to join us on a fixed term contract covering maternity leave. This role will be responsible for the development, oversight and growth of the Hospice’s Events and Community Strategy.

The role leads on promoting and developing all events, community activity, and corporate partnership by leading an enthusiastic, friendly and ambitious team of fundraisers.

We’re recruiting for a Policy, Public Affairs and Campaigns Manager to join our team in Northern Ireland.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience in shaping policy and the ability to communicate the position of the MS Society in Northern Ireland and to develop its profile to a wide range of audiences.

You’ll also act as a spokesperson for the MS Society in Northern Ireland and play an important role in developing our strategic approach to supporting people affected by MS. Helping us to ensure that our priorities align with the needs and aspirations of the MS community.

We’re looking for the successful candidate to be able to demonstrate that they understand the challenges that people with MS face. You’ll be mobilising the MS Community in Northern Ireland to make a powerful case for continued improvement in the treatment, care and support of people living with MS.

What the job involves

Our sector leading Events and Community fundraising team raises funds (circa £12M) for Prostate Cancer UK through a programme of Community, Sporting Events and Virtual Products, including our flagship walking event, March for Men. Since 2020 the team have experienced income growth of 35%, and we’re proud that our activity has been recognised across the sector, by featuring in the Massive Top 25 for five consecutive years.

Along with recruiting teams in events such as the TCS London Marathon, Great North Run and the London Landmarks Half Marathon, we also deliver two-charity owned cycling events, the Grand Depart Classic and the Big Blue Bike Ride.

In the role of Sporting Events Manager, you’ll lead on the growth strategy and delivery of our flagship walking event; March for Men, with a key focus on co-creating and delivering a robust marketing plan. You'll be accountable for the performance of the event, ensuring that all stakeholders meet their responsibilities and deadlines to drive fundraising income. Your other key focus will be managing and working with an external delivery partner to ensure the event is delivered to the highest possible standard.

In addition to the delivery of March for Men, you’ll support the Assistant Head of Events and Community Fundraising to ensure we maximise income from our Third-Party programme of walking, running and cycling activities, whilst line managing members of the team.

This role will cover all aspects from; developing a strategy, leading project meetings, setting budgets, creating marketing plans, organising event logistics, and delivering event weekend support. Alongside this, you’ll work with other teams within Prostate Cancer UK to support the full calendar of events, including our Partnerships fundraising and Volunteer Engagement team.

Working with our Communications directorate, you’ll ensure that we make the most of every opportunity, from promoting the events to warm and new audiences, identifying and building relationships with our key supporters, to ensuring a high proportion of event participants continue to support us after completing their event.

What we want from you

You’ll have experience working in a sporting events team with a background of leading with the delivery of large-scale events, covering aspects such as marketing, communications and event delivery. You’ll also have first-class communication skills and have the ability to motivate and inspire for our cause. Strong organisational skills will be combined with the ability to prioritise a busy workload and work to tight deadlines.

As a manager in the organisation, you’ll actively role model our values and behaviours and take pride in helping wherever you can in supporting the charity to deliver. You’re responsible for delivery of the projects you lead – actively monitoring, analysing and reporting on performance.

We are seeking a proactive, energetic and enthusiastic Corporate Partnerships Officer to be an integral part of a team which aims to both maximise corporate income and deliver an excellent partner experience. The role will support the Major Giving and Events Manager with the development and delivery of the charity’s corporate partnerships programme with responsibility for account managing our portfolio of Bridge Partners and developing a pipeline of new business to build meaningful relationships with corporate partners. You will identify, cultivate, and engage with prospects through bespoke proposals, events, and other appropriate fundraising activities in order to generate income to achieve ambitious targets.

Experience and Background

Grants Manager

We are seeking a proactive and detailed Grants Manager to support our development team on the journey to further Cardboard Citizens’ ambitions as a dynamic, flexible and forward-thinking social justice charity and theatre company, working with people who have experience of homelessness and poverty or inequity.

Our organisation secures over £1m in voluntary funding each year and our Grants Manager will play a vital role in securing and growing the broad range of voluntary support which allows to make exceptional art for social change. You will manage a rich portfolio of existing funder relationships across Trusts & Foundations, Corporate and Statutory income streams, in addition to researching and writing applications for new funding and working closely with the Delivery team on impact monitoring and reporting. You will cultivate and steward funder relationships and manage and represent the organisation at events run by, with and for existing and prospective funders, including establishing new funding connections for Cardboard Citizens in Hackney, following our recent move from Whitechapel to Hoxton.

Following this move and the launch of our film series More Than One Story in partnership with The Big Issue, this summer, you will be joining Cardboard Citizens at a time of growth, change and increased local and national exposure, as we plan for our longer-term future. We have targets in place to retain and increase income we receive from grants, which make up the majority of our annual income. Your contribution will be vital in ensuring Cardboard Citizens can deliver our programme year-on-year and continue to grow. Summary of position​​

Art Explora is looking for an experienced Community Programme Manager with a passion for arts engagement and cultural outreach to manage and build our innovative Community Programme for Art Explora in the UK. ​​

The Community Programme Manager will lead on and develop Art Explora’s key community programme streams – Arts at Home, Theatre at Home, Music at Home, Mini Art Explorers and Art Explorers at..., and manage Art Explora UK’s growing volunteer community. The Community Programme Manager will explore ways to expand the content for this programme though new partnerships with museums, galleries and other cultural institutions, as well as expand the programme into more care homes and other care settings, such as hospitals, across the UK.  ​

The Community Programme Manager will manage Art Explora’s growing pool of 140+ volunteers. They will ensure that Art Explora has a comprehensive and supportive volunteer offer. They will review our current volunteer recruitment processes and policies, safeguarding and training procedures, and ensure we meet the highest standards for working with volunteers. ​​

The volunteer community is key to Art Explora’s strategy for scaling up arts engagement in the UK. Through the generous support of volunteers, we can bring our arts programmes to more people and spread the benefits of engaging with arts and culture more widely. About the role​

The Community Programme Manager will bring their own experience and knowledge of outstanding community programming to build on and expand the current programme. The Community Programme Manager will manage partnerships with key stakeholders and develop new relationships with a variety of partners, from cultural institutions to new care settings. ​​​

The Community Programme Manager is a pivotal position within the small, dedicated and growing Art Explora team in the UK. The Community Programme Manager will be supported by a Community Programme Assistant and the volunteer community. We are looking for a candidate with management experience.  ​​

To achieve this, the chosen candidate will not only have a passion for arts outreach and engagement, but will also have a proven track record in project management, managing volunteers, excellent organisation and communications skills, and be experienced in building relationships at all levels – with community organisations such as care homes, volunteers, local authorities, content and delivery partners, senior stakeholders, collaborators and supporters. ​

Person Specification​​

Essential skills and experience ​

• At least 5 years’ experience delivering arts and cultural outreach programmes, for example within an education and engagement team for an arts organisation, or working directly with community organisations or within the care sector​

• Proven experience of volunteer management including recruitment, training, logistics and personnel management​

• A good knowledge of arts engagement practice in the UK and leading organisations in this field ​

• A proven track record of budget management and event coordination​

• Some experience of fundraising from public sector, trusts and foundations​

• A confident communicator (oral and writing), with an enthusiasm for building creative partnerships and capable of working with a wide range of senior stakeholders and partners ​

• A good knowledge of cultural policies and current cultural engagement landscape​

• Managing and leading on the planning of smaller engagement and fundraising events both in person and online.
