We are looking for a Philanthropy Manager to join this small but ambitious, growing and successful team at Chester Zoo and help drive the Major Gifts income stream forwards. 

The Role

As Philanthropy Manager you will play a key role in generating funds and lead on the high value relationship strategy. Duties will include:

• Identifying and researching potential major donors and implementing plans to attract these high-value individual philanthropists
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective donors.
• Leading and curating exceptional engagement opportunities through events, experiences and donor visits.
• Keeping accurate records to include all communications, donor plans, pledges, proposals and gifts.
• Ensuring gift administration and recognition.

The Person

We’re looking for someone with a demonstrable experience in securing and managing philanthropic gifts from individuals and an ability to write exceptional, accurate and compelling proposals. The Politics Project is looking for an experienced and strategic Partnerships Manager to grow and strengthen relationships across the youth, education and democracy sectors.

The Politics Project supports young people to use their voice by providing them with outstanding democratic education. We work with young people, teachers, youth practitioners and politicians to help them learn, teach and engage in democracy. We are a non-partisan organisation working across the UK. 

ABOUT DEMOCRACY CLASSROOM

Democracy Classroom is a partnership of over 100 civil society organisations from the youth, education and democracy sectors working together to support young people to engage in elections and democracy. 

The network is supported by the Democracy Classroom Platform, which brings together over 1000 free educational resources for teachers and youth practitioners.

Democracy Classroom is a non-partisan, UK-wide initiative and a leading voice for the sector, reaching teachers and youth practitioners in 95% of the UK’s parliamentary constituencies. It coordinates the collective voice of organisations committed to democratic education, including through its joint submission to the Department for Education’s Curriculum and Assessment Review and the publication of The Roadmap to Votes at 16, a collaborative vision for the implementation of Votes at 16.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Partnerships Manager to strengthen and grow our connections across the youth, education and democracy sectors. You will play a key role in expanding and deepening the Democracy Classroom Network, helping to increase its reach, visibility and impact on democratic education across the UK.

The role will support organisations to prepare for and collaborate on upcoming changes in democratic engagement and education - such as the introduction of Votes at 16 - ensuring the sector is coordinated, informed and ready to respond collectively.

This is a dynamic, people-focused role supporting more than 100 partner organisations to collaborate, share learning and deliver joined-up support for teachers and youth practitioners. You will combine excellent relationship-building with the ability to think strategically, spot opportunities and translate them into practical action.

You will work closely with the Head of Communications and Networks, the Communications Lead, and colleagues across The Politics Project to ensure that partners are supported, connected and able to collaborate effectively. The role blends strategic relationship management with hands-on coordination and communication.

Key responsibilities include:

Partnership management

• Build, maintain and strengthen relationships with over 100 existing civil society partners.
• Act as the main point of contact for partner queries, feedback and support.
• Identify and onboard new organisations to join the Democracy Classroom Network.
• Facilitate partner input into planning, decision-making and shared problem-solving.

Strategic development and coordination

• Identify new opportunities for collaboration, policy influence and sector engagement.
• Advise senior colleagues on partnership trends, risks and emerging opportunities.
• Develop and deliver partner communication strategies, ensuring information and opportunities are shared clearly and consistently.
• Coordinate effectively with internal teams to ensure joined-up delivery and coherent partner messaging.

Engagement and representation

• Plan and deliver Democracy Classroom meetings, training sessions and networking events.
• Represent The Politics Project at external meetings and events, acting as an ambassador for our collaborative and non-partisan approach.

Monitoring and reporting

• Track partner engagement, feedback and satisfaction to inform continuous improvement.
• Support monitoring, evaluation and reporting to demonstrate the impact of the network.

This is a fast-paced role in a small but growing team. The post includes a six-month probation period and is fixed-term until March 2027, with potential for extension depending on funding. Occasional travel within the UK and some evening or weekend work will be required.

We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Health Community Engagement Manager to lead an ambitious new programme of community engagement across Birmingham and Solihull. Working in partnership with  NHS Birmingham & Solihull Integrated Care Board and NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board , BVSC, Warwickshire & Solihull Community and Voluntary Action (CAVA) and the Birmingham and Solihull VCFSE Leadership Alliance, this is a rare opportunity to help shape how communities influence decisions about health and care at a system-wide level.

You will play a central role in ensuring that the voices of local people, especially those most affected by health inequalities, are heard and acted upon.

As the Health Community Engagement Manager, you will lead the delivery of a wide-ranging engagement programme that connects health priorities with community insight and experience.

You will oversee ICB Community Panels, coordinate a small-grants scheme to fund VCFSE-led engagement, and support local organisations to evaluate and share their learning. You will work closely with BVSC Research, the NHS Communications and Engagement teams, and a wide range of local authority and community partners to ensure that engagement activity is coherent, inclusive and impactful.

This role blends strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. You will design and manage processes that make it easier for smaller, community-led and faith-based organisations to get involved in shaping health services. You will ensure that the themes emerging from community discussions are reported clearly and used to inform system strategy and policy. You will also play an active role in strengthening networks such as the Birch Network and the CHERP platform, supporting the sharing of good practice in engagement, research and policy development.

To succeed in this role, you will bring significant experience of community engagement within health or related fields, together with a deep understanding of the VCFSE sector in Birmingham and Solihull. You will be an excellent communicator, capable of working confidently with senior leaders as well as with grassroots community groups.

You will be comfortable leading projects, managing budgets and supporting others, while remaining flexible and solution-focused in a fast-moving environment. Above all, you will be motivated by a commitment to equity, inclusion and meaningful community engagement and involvement.

Dogs 4 Rescue is the UK’s pioneering kennel-free rescue leading the rescue revolution. From humble beginnings to a multi-site operation we are leading change in our industry running a model which is far more complex than a traditional kennels.

We are looking to expand our team, so have created a new role. This is going to encompass looking after our team of dog-handlers to ensure that the whole operation works as efficiently and effectively as possible, and gives the dogs their very best lives.

Whilst this is primarily a people managing role, you will need to be comfortable around the dogs, and have experience working in dog rescue – kennel-free or kennels based.

As the role is new it can be adapted to the strengths of the successful applicant, and will evolve over time.

It is primarily a practical role, being out with the team and supervising / supporting them in their daily duties, but will also involve the inevitable paperwork that goes with management. You will be involved with logging what’s just happened, planning for what’s going to happen, and ensuring that all other stuff that needs to happen, happens…

Our visionary founder has a proven track record, changing the lives of nearly 3,000 dogs. She knows what works historically but needs another right-hand person who can help us become centres of excellenceoperationally.

The Role

The role of Superstore Manager involves managing the day-to-day operation of the charity’s first superstore including managing a team of 18 employees consisting of the Deputy Superstore Manager, Department Team Leaders, Superstore Assistants and a team of volunteers, ensuring accurate accounting and handling of assets, delivering high standards of customer service, and adhering to all charity policies and procedures.

Specifically, you will be responsible for:

Driving Success in Our Charity Superstore

• Leading on visual merchandising and display to create a welcoming and inspiring shopping experience that reflects our brand and values.
• Ensuring efficient stock management and generation, so our shop floor is full of high-quality, desirable items that attract customers.
• Maintaining impeccable shop standards and ensuring the store layout supports both customer engagement and operational efficiency.
• Managing and being accountable for implementing and complying with agreed shop operating policy and standards including Health and Safety and Trading Standards.
• Building relationships and working closely with wider functions across the charity such as Facilities, Marketing, Volunteer, and social media teams to ensure the plans are fulfilled and executed.

Efficient Stock Management

• Oversee effective stockroom systems to ensure smooth processing and redistribution of donations, including identifying high-value or surplus stock for resale through online marketplaces or other Yorkshire Cancer Research stores.

• Reviewing weekly sales figures and from these identifying ways to maintain and maximise income, ensuring information is accessible to volunteers so they are kept up to date.
• Working with the Head of Retail and Finance team to set challenging sales budgets and stretch targets that are achievable or exceedable, and drive and motivate your team to achieve and exceed them.

Championing exceptional customer and supporter service

• You’ll create an environment where every supporter and customer feel valued, ensuring:
• Outstanding service across all touchpoints, from the shop floor to the till point, including seamless and secure payment processes.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need:

• To be educated to A Level or equivalent or have experience in a similar role at a similar level.

· To have previous experience with a high-volume Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) retailer is desirable.

The Supporter Retention Manager will be responsible for designing and delivering strategies that build supporter loyalty, increase lifetime value, and enhance the overall supporter experience. The role ensures that every supporter feels valued, engaged, and motivated to continue and grow their commitment to the organisation. Working in the Individual Giving Team, and in close partnership with the Marketing team, the postholder will deliver impactful stewardship campaigns, tailored supporter journeys, and creative engagement initiatives that maximise retention and enhance supporter experience. 

About Chapter One

Chapter One is a small but growing charity, working to ensure that every child has 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most.

Our Early Literacy Intervention (ELI) programme provides daily, tailored 1:1, 7 minute phonics sessions for children who are behind in phonics. Using a bespoke technology tool that can be aligned to any school phonics scheme, a trained Early Reading Interventionist works individually with target children. We currently have ELIs working in 11 schools in London, East Sussex and the West Midlands, with plans to expand. Data from 2024-25 showed that children receiving ELI support had a phonics screen pass rate of 95% (10% above school cohort averages).

Chapter One also offers a unique Online Reading Volunteer programme which currently supports about 3,500 children a year. It pairs struggling five to seven-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who come from over 170 local and national businesses. The volunteer pledge is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. About the role

Working 30 hours per week over 5 days, for 44 weeks a year, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of our Early Literacy Intervention (ELI) programme in the UK. You will manage a team of part-time ELI practitioners, visiting them regularly in school to provide supervision, quality assurance and support. You will lead on the relationships with schools involved in the programme: organising and overseeing programme delivery; sharing regular data summaries and ensuring pupil progress. As the programme grows, you will also be responsible for the recruitment and training of new ELIs.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has recent experience of teaching and/or leading phonics with an excellent understanding of phonics pedagogy and the ability to train and develop our ELI practitioners. The successful candidate must be willing to travel to the schools we work with, initially in (but not limited to) London, East Sussex and the West Midlands. Travel expenses will be paid.

Key Responsibilities
Staff management

• Lead and manage a team of Chapter One Early Literacy Interventionists (ELIs) to effectively deliver the Early Literacy intervention programme in schools.
• Visit ELIs in school regularly to provide supervision, quality assurance and support.
• Recruit, train and induct new ELI practitioners as required.
• Design and create training materials for new ELIs.
• Provide annual training for teachers who have pupils taking part in the programme.
• Conduct monthly supervision meetings and annual appraisals of ELI practitioners and clearly document these.
• Lead the fortnightly ELI meeting, supporting with any issues which may arise.

Programme delivery, school liaison and evaluation

• Ensure ELIs baseline each pupil when they begin and track pupil progress throughout the year.
• Proactively monitor session numbers in all schools and support ELIs to increase session numbers if necessary.
• Conduct termly data meetings with schools to share data trackers and ensure that schools are fully informed about pupil progress.
• Lead on the documentation of key processes and step by step guides for the ELI team and ensure that these processes are followed.
• Analyse pupil data both for ELI pupils and non-ELI pupils to produce reports and identify trends, sharing with the Evidence and Impact Manager as required.
• In collaboration with the Schools Development Manager, conduct annual renewal conversations with partner schools.

Platform development

• Be the first port of call for ELI practitioners for the operation of the Chapter One Early Literacy platform, escalating issues as necessary.
• Liaise with the platform development team to feedback on platform bugs and areas of improvement.
• Proactively identify new directions for the development of the platform, in line with the latest pedagogy and research on early reading, and liaise with the Product Manager and development teams as required.

General responsibilities

• Liaise with Managers in all other departments as required.
• Participate in business planning and objective setting and attend the School and Parent Engagement group meeting each term.

The Fundraising team is a dynamic group of fundraisers who are passionately committed to raising money for our life-changing work in the mental health and mental illness space. We have a diverse portfolio of income streams spanning Events, Community, Individual Giving, Legacies, In-Memoriam, Philanthropy, Trusts & Grants and Partnerships.

Trusts & Grants have a strong track record at Rethink Mental Illness and a growing portfolio of supporters at Mental Health UK. The team is well-positioned to develop innovative funding propositions that support the future ambitions of both charities, working to achieve both in-year cornerstone grants and long-term, transformational funding. As a newly established programme, Philanthropy demonstrates exciting potential for both Rethink and MHUK, with initiatives spanning major donor and mid-value engagement. Corporate Partnerships have launched several exciting partnerships across both charities and that portfolio and team continue to grow.

How you will make a difference

We are looking for a Research and Operations Manager to join our passionate fundraising team. You will play a pivotal role in driving high-value fundraising outcomes across Rethink Mental Illness and Mental Health UK by delivering a strategic, insight-led approach to prospect research and portfolio management.

Managing the Senior Philanthropy and Research Officer you will oversee the identification, qualification and prioritisation of prospects across Philanthropy, Trusts & Grants and Corporate Partnerships. You will lead on due diligence processes, prospect pipeline management, connection mapping and the development of systems and tools that enable data-driven decision-making. Working closely with senior fundraisers and the Interim Head of Trusts and Philanthropy, you will ensure teams have the intelligence and insights needed to build strong, meaningful donor relationships.
