The role

This role will identify, develop and manage top food partners relationships and strengthen existing business relationships with companies in the food industry, generating value for the partner and to secure growing and sustainable volumes of surplus food for the FareShare Network.

For designated top food partners, you will be their day to day point of contact with regular face to face contact at all levels. You will undertake structured, strategic account management, leading and coordinating FareShare’s engagement across our organisation. This will mean agreeing and executing a bespoke joint business plan with each account to get more food, money and strategic support. You will also feedback on ways that we can better support our accounts and improve our services to them.

You will work directly and be on-site with top food partners to help identify and overcome the barriers which exist to giving surplus food to people in need as well as increasing money and strategic resource.

You will also be required to work closely with FareShare colleagues within FareShare and across the UK in our partner organisations in order to identify and understand opportunities for creating mutual and shared value.

Main areas of responsibility

Partnership Management

• Contribute to the development of consistent, structured Joint Business plans with designated accounts that take into account food, funding and other strategic initiatives to drive growth in food, money and other strategic resources.
• Work on behalf of the account to develop and embed services relevant to the account and
• agreed through the joint business plan – e.g. employability or store level redistribution.
• Execute joint business plans and report internally and externally on progress.
• Research and understand your accounts, including key ESG initiatives, waste streams, key personnel within the organisation that will help drive its success and engage the relevant internal departments through both desked based research and face to face contact.
• Proactively drive account forwards and progress these relationships with regular on-site visits and linking FareShare exec with key contacts.
• Keep up to date with industry and charity insights and ensure this is reflected back strategically across ways of working and account management

Project and Initiative Management

• Be responsible for managing and communicating key projects and initiatives to increase food volumes and strategic value, securing support from a range of stakeholders within food partners and across the FareShare network.
• Work closely with Supply Chain and Logistics, Operations and Network Development teams with the aim of optimising food out to our network
• Develop and lead FareShare cross-departmental strategic activity to enable us to derive maximum value from key food partners including liaising with fundraising, marketing and volunteering teams

About You
You will have demonstrable communications experience in the research, health or charity sector, with experience of communicating with a variety of audiences through different methods. You will also develop excellent working relationships with senior external and internal stakeholders at the hospital, UCL Institute of Child Health and across the Charity.
 
Specifically, you will have:

- A degree in a relevant scientific or health-related discipline or equivalent experience, and a passion for child health and research
- Communication experience, in the health or charity sector.
- Excellent verbal and written skills, understanding complex scientific or clinical concepts and translating these into inspiring information and presentations.

Responsibilities

Account Management/ Stewardship

• Supporting day-to-day stewardship of Hatch’s strategic partners including Pizza Hut, UBS, BlackRock and NatWest.

• Integrating closely with our Programme team to support the engagement of founders for corporate requests (e.g. founders at corporate opportunities/ supply chain/ stalls/ panels etc).

Person Specification

The role

With a great deal to do, the role will be pivotal in working with local groups to support them through the application process, and to ensure high quality projects are being developed based on local community need.

The role sits within the Football Foundation’s Delivery Team, the team responsible for strategic identification and capital project delivery, reporting to the Community Engagement Lead and with responsibility for a portfolio of PlayZone programme areas within one of the Delivery Team geographical regions.

Introduction

The Prison Reform Trust (PRT) was founded in 1981 to inform public debate and improve prison conditions and the treatment of prisoners, amidst concerns about a projected prison population of 48,000 by 1984. Fast forward to today, the prison population in England and Wales is almost 87,000 and is projected to rise to 106,300 by March 2027. We overuse prison for non-violent and persistent crime, and we choose to send people to prison for a long time, and it continues to grow.

Our mission is clear. We are working to create a just, humane and effective prison system by influencing decision-makers opinion formers and the public to 1) reduce the use of prison; 2) Improve conditions for prisoners and, 3) promote equality and human rights in the criminal justice system.

Income in 2023 was £2.06 million, with most of our income portfolio reliant on trusts and foundations. We have just been through a strategic development period and as a part of that we have uncovered significant untapped potential for philanthropic and relational based income growth. We are now seeking a newly designed, ‘Head of Fundraising and Philanthropy’ to lead the whole fundraising programme, but with a specific focus on developing the philanthropy and corporate programme to take Prison Reform Trust to the next level.

You will be a seasoned relational fundraiser, have entrepreneurial flair, be creative and have the ability to influence at the highest of levels. Overall aim

· Extensive experience and a proven track record of delivering and growing income from philanthropists (5 and 6 figure gifts)

· Experience of raising money from companies (5 and 6 figure gifts)

· Evidenced experience in cultivating and building relationships with donors / supporters and stewarding key funders

· Experience of overseeing a trusts and foundations programme

Desirable:

· Experience of working with Trusts and Foundations and large scale charitable trusts

· Experience of building joint bids in consortiums

· Fundraising qualification

Knowledge

Essential:

· Knowledge of the voluntary sector, including market and donor trends

· Knowledge of family foundations, ESG/CSR and grant giving bodies

· Understanding of criminal justice sector

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the presence and authority required to speak at senior levels.

· Ability to prioritise and to say no when opportunities and requests do not maximise the value of your time

· Experience of using Microsoft 365

· Strong people skills for building relationships and networking with external stakeholder, team members and key contacts

· Experience of staff management

· Experience of using fundraising databases for financial and relationship management

Desirable:

· Experience of delivering fundraising events

· Experience of working with corporate donors to maximise pro-bono opportunities

· A genuine and enthusiastic commitment to the Values, Vision and Goals of the Prison Reform Trust

· Confidence in external facing activity for example and being an active spokesperson for PRT for fundraising activity and general media for PRT
