Job Description 

The role holder will create effective communications and engagement to support the charity’s work. You will drive positive two-way engagement through our digital channels. Your work will support organisational priorities, driving reach, community engagement and donations.

Key responsibilities include:

Communication and campaign creation

• Drafting digital communication and engagement plans to deliver results. 
• Crafting exciting, creative, energetic, simple communications which drive action.
• Working to support colleagues and audiences. Working with stakeholders to ensure communications are planned and delivered at the right time to meet their needs.

Using results to drive change

• Using insight to inform new plans. 
• Monitoring and evaluating impact by using analytics to maximise effectiveness. 

Copy creation 

• Using your strong written and verbal skills to curate and manage high-quality, consistent content across all our delivery platforms: social, Live Well Hub, web, email and PR.
• Interviewing members of the community and creating engaging content from their stories.
• Generating press releases to drive coverage and awareness and raise the profile of campaigns.

Social media

• Leading on building our impact and engagement on social media with our audiences, in line with our objectives, including supporting engagement campaigns and fundraising. 
• Ensuring that we are using the best tools and techniques by staying up-to-date with trends.
• Monitoring social media, ensuring prompt and accurate responses to enquiries. 
• Using analytics to constantly optimise our social media impact. 

Email

• Developing content for email marketing, including for fundraising and events campaigns.
• Optimising email by A/B testing content to maximise performance through design and content improvements and creating triggered email sequences to build our message. 
• Using audience segmentation and personalisation to support campaigns.
• Using analytics to identify ways to constantly optimise our email impact. 

Website content plus content SEO

• Overseeing content development for the website and checking existing content so our website is kept up-to-date, engaging, and on brand.
• Ensuring web content is optimised for SEO and usability, training staff on best practice.
• Leading team efforts to enhance the website as an engagement tool. 
• Using analytics to identify potential content changes.

Engagement

• Acting as the digital community lead for engagement of our online communities on social media and the Live Well Hub, including guiding team members to follow best practice.  
• Supporting online events and driving positive engagement opportunities.
• Responding proactively and appropriately to online messages and comments.
• Engaging and participating in online community groups and discussions beyond our channels.

Brand communication

• Ensuring all activity aligns with brand priorities.
• Championing on-brand messaging. Acting as a trusted expert on brand tone of voice. 
• Ensuring all media and communications guidelines/policies are followed and kept updated. 
• Sharing best practice with the wider organisation and continuing professional development. 

Creative skills

• Generating and developing creative and innovative ideas with a good eye for brand, design, film and photography.
• Creating engaging collateral through software such as Canva, Photoshop or Indesign.
• Editing small amounts of audio or video (desirable).

Essential skills:

• High energy, with the ability to work at a fast pace, with a proactive, creative and flexible approach.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively and autonomously from home while working collaboratively and building relationships as part of a tight-knit team. 
• A keen eye for detail with a consistently high quality of work output.
• Highly organised, able to manage a content schedule, and plan and deliver digital campaigns. Able to prioritise work across multiple projects to meet deadlines.

ACCT UK launched its new name and brand in 2021 and we are now seeking a highly motivated Marketing Manager to continue the delivery of our engagement programme. We need an events manager who is adept at managing projects and events, working with our fundraisers and encouraging our supporters to get involved in our events such as our annual trek, the prestigious Care Sector Ball, and all the other events we’re involved in. The right person will have the confidence and persistence it takes to persuade, cajole, prod and encourage fundraisers to do as much as they can to raise funds for us. You need to be proficient at managing the admin that goes with events, including using fundraising platforms such as Just Giving and Enthuse to engage with fundraisers and provide regular reports on the income raised. We will also need you to organize hotel, travel, conference arrangements for the team.

You must be based in England, to help us keep travel costs down as much as possible. The role is home based, with travel to fundraising events, conferences and network meetings, and with travel every 10 weeks or so to central London for team meetings.

 You must be a determined self-reliant professional though also a team player, to effectively coordinate and execute events and other activities, and be passionate about events management and fundraising to enable us to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

Safeguarding Manager

Background /Summary:

In2scienceUK’s aim is to promote social mobility and diversity in science, technology, engineering and maths. We do this by leveraging the skills and passion of researchers and STEM professionals to support young people (16+) from low socio-economic backgrounds to achieve their potential and progress to degrees and careers in STEM.

The successful applicant will be joining In2scienceUK at an exciting point in its mission having recently launched a number of new initiatives, both in-person and online, to support young people build the skills, knowledge and confidence to build successful careers in STEM.

Role Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Safeguarding Manager to join our growing team and own our safeguarding processes end to end. This is a crucial role to ensure the safety of the young people we work with and that In2scienceUK provides a safe environment for all.

This role is part time and contract based and would be ideal for someone who has significant experience of safeguarding and child protection law, as well as experience

in carrying out safeguarding audits, implementing safeguarding processes for both in person and online offers, as well as internal and external safeguarding training.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review and audit existing safeguarding practices and procedures throughout the organisation.

• Manage and deliver a plan to improve practices and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and guidance.

• Produce safeguarding policies, codes of conduct, and any other documentation needed to meet our commitment to safeguarding.

• Design and deliver effective in-person and online safeguarding training and guidance for trustees, staff, volunteers, partners and beneficiaries.

• Provide safeguarding support and guidance for our volunteers and partners, particularly concerning work experience placements and mentoring.

• Manage safeguarding concerns and disclosures as they arise, and escalate concerns in line with our safeguarding policies including making external referrals. 

• Ensure that our safeguarding records and processes are in compliance with Child Protection Law and GDPR regarding the processing of data and acting as a data controller.

• Responsible for fostering a culture of ‘safeguarding first’ across the organisation and with our volunteers, ensuring that our activities are designed with safeguarding embedded. 

• Stay up to date with all legislation and guidance on Safeguarding, child protection and protecting Adults at Risk within locations In2scienceUK operates and provides a single point of contact for this support - currently England, Wales and Scotland with ambition for future expansion.

• Support with the development of any policy, guidance and practice that relates to safeguarding our stakeholders, e.g. the legal status of work experience hosts, health and safety, DBS checks.

Knowledge and Experience:

Essential:

• Level 4 safeguarding accreditation.

• Strong existing knowledge of safeguarding and child protection laws in England, Wales and Scotland.

• Experience of implementing safeguarding processes to online, in-person and residential programme delivery designed for young people 16+.

• Experience of designing and delivering relevant training appropriately tailored to different audiences.

• Experience of working across departments and with trustees to produce appropriate processes and policies.

• Experience of dealing with being the first point of contact for complex cases for both children and adults at risk and making necessary referrals.

• Existing knowledge of Data Protection and how it applies to Safeguarding.

Desirable:

• Previous experience working with work placement and/or mentoring programmes and legal requirements for carrying these out.

• Previous wellbeing, counselling or similar training.

• Mental Health First Aid training

A PM will be responsible for ensuring teams are equipped to deliver programme outcomes and OKRs, whilst overseeing and maintaining strong partner relationships and ensuring team professional development. They will also directly work with their own group of Associates.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Programme Manager, you will lead and support a team of PCs and/or PLs to complete their day-to-day tasks. At this stage, you are responsible for having a wide impact across your programmes and the charity as a whole, as well as maintaining high-quality personalised support for your own Associates.

1) PROGRAMME DESIGN AND DELIVERY

• Make decisions concerning the design and delivery of your programmes, creating a 12-month plan in advance of the start of each recruitment cycle. 

• Plan student recruitment activities in collaboration with partners and via social media, in addition to the onboarding process. This will include working with the Student Attraction Leader and Senior Marketing Officer to efficiently meet onboarding targets.

• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of your programmes with overarching responsibility for meeting internal engagement and application success OKRs, which you will utilise throughout the year to set priority areas for your team.

• Contribute to weekly Programme Manager meetings, sharing your insight and experience to generate ideas and practical solutions that support the overall improvement of upReach’s programme design and delivery. 

• Lead on parts of the weekly Delivery Meeting with the wider team, to ensure weekly focus areas and key team messages are communicated clearly to all PCs and PLs. 

  2) TEAM MANAGEMENT

• Manage a team of Programme Coordinators/Leaders/Junior Managers in a variety of locations, both virtually and in person - providing ongoing personal and professional development support through weekly 1-to-1 calls or meetings, written feedback on documents, or day-to-day guidance via Slack. 

• Support Programme Coordinators / Programme Leaders/Junior Managers to provide high quality personalised support to their Associates, which includes helping them to document all interactions with Associates and application progress.

• Use relevant impact dashboards and data to set priorities for your team and support with competing workload demands and time management, to ensure that OKRs and stakeholder KPIs are achieved.

• Manage the performance and development of your team - including setting SMART professional development goals and utilising a range of resources and tools where necessary to help your team perform successfully in their roles. You will have regular, open and supportive discussions with your team members, giving feedback in your weekly 1-to-1s and your mid- and end-of-year appraisals.

• Support your direct reports through a Leadership and Management apprenticeship, if this is something your direct reports choose to do after 18 months on the FCLP.

• Be part of the upReach Leadership Team and contribute to forming the strategy and direction of the charity. This also includes passing on team feedback to your manager and the leadership team and proposing practical solutions. 

3) PARTNERSHIPS & EVENTS

• Maintain strong relationships with external partners, including managing quarterly/annual reporting requirements on aims and objectives. 

• Help your team to manage day-to-day partnership responsibilities, and coach them in relationship management. This will also involve supporting PCs/PLs where necessary to set boundaries with partners and sensitively manage requests that are outside the parameters of our contractual agreements.

• Support Programme Coordinators/Leaders/Junior Managers in smoothly running events and application processes, both in your team and within the wider team where necessary. 

• Work with the partnerships team to make strategic decisions regarding how to grow upReach's existing and new partnerships.

4) OVERSEE A DELIVERY RESPONSIBILITY AREA, ROTATION OR PROJECT

• Manage a Delivery Responsibility area, rotation or project. This will involve meeting with the relevant team regularly (often weekly or bi-weekly depending on the time of year/focus area), and guiding those working on this area with you.

• Manage your team to complete the objectives outlined for your area, setting clear actions and deadlines. Coach and provide guidance where needed.

• Provide regular feedback to the Programme Management team and where necessary present key findings and updates to the wider team. This may also involve supporting your team to present during the Delivery Meeting and/or Team Meeting.

5) ASSOCIATE ENGAGEMENT

• Engage a smaller group of your own Associates, engaging them with the upReach programme in line with OKRs.

• Acting as a role model for PCs, PLs & JPMs, ensuring Associate facing tasks are completed to a high quality, such as completing Trello and Task Tracker actions.

• Proactively use data dashboards to monitor Associate engagement across your programme(s), identifying any areas of concern throughout the year and setting focus areas/action steps for your team to address these.

EXPERIENCE

To be successful, it is anticipated that you would have prior experience in the delivery of programmes and projects.

Essential experience:

• Experience in programme delivery from end to end, from design to reporting and evaluation.

• Experience working directly with key stakeholders to manage and grow a relationship and/or partnership.

• Line management or team leadership experience.

• Experience designing and delivering training or learning & development content.

• Experience working in a fast-paced environment and working independently to find solutions to problems.

Working Arrangements and Travel Requirements

Rainforest Trust UK staff work remotely and you will be expected to work primarily from home with an excellent internet connection. The postholder will be required to host networking events and attend some online meetings with our partners in the U.S so some (early) evening working is required. - Diary management for all programmes and events

- Support in production of relevant presentations and be able to present on the Charity group whilst attending events online or in person.

- Take payments over the phone as and when required.

- Attend physical meetings and events as and when needed to provide support.

- Support the production of recording for Healthcare Professionals, patients and care givers for educational webinars & events using but not limited to Microsoft Teams or Zoom.

Essential requirements:

- Experience working with vendors and negotiating venue contracts.

- Ability to work under pressure and handle last-minute changes.

- Ability to engage with wide range of stakeholders including healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers, sponsors and exhibitors.

- Educated to GCSE level (minimum).

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Advanced Knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel.

- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage own workload.

- Ability to work on own initiative.
