We are a small, friendly charity, run by four volunteer trustees and loads of volunteer fundraisers. We are a dynamic charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) based in Liverpool, dedicated to fundraising initiatives that create meaningful impact both locally and for baby and children’s hospitals in Sana’a, Yemen. Rooted in solidarity values, our work often aligns with principles of Islamic giving, including zakat, but is open to all who wish to give and support. On occasion, we co-fundraise with charities for Palestine.

We are seeking a volunteer treasurer to help us with financial management and reporting. Our turnover is less than £50,000 per year and we are therefore able to produce light touch accounts for the Charity Commission. We would like support with this, and with ensuring we remain financially compliant, as well as with ideas for sustainable fundraising. The trustees meet less than once a month and we anticipate a small time committment for this role. 

We are particularly keen to see applications from people who have a specific interest in health and wellbeing for people living in war affected states, especially Yemen; or who have a connection with Liverpool. As our Volunteer Treasurer, you will play a vital role in supporting the financial health of the charity. You’ll oversee our finances, ensure transparency, and provide guidance to trustees on managing funds responsibly and in accordance with both UK charity law and, where relevant, principles of Islamic giving.

East London Waterworks Park is looking for comms strategists and PR managers to help grow East London Waterworks Park's audiences.

East London Waterworks Park is a charity that has raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. 

We are looking for communications strategists and PR to participate in our community-led working group who are promoting public awareness and support of the project. 

There is opportunity to lead on projects across communications, content creation, social media, PR, newsletters, film, podcasts or any other channels of interest, and facilitate the direction of the working group.

The Comms Circle currently meets fortnightly on a Tuesday evening on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely.

You should be experienced in implementing effective strategic communications, managing media relations and social media platforms by creating engaging content, and building online communities. Contribute to the creation of a new biodiverse community-owned park with free access natural swimming ponds. Your strategic communication will be instrumental in fostering a strong connection between our community, the park, and its biodiversity. Your input will help us craft compelling narratives that inspire, educate, and engage our service users, stakeholders, funders, and the general public, ultimately driving support for the park's mission and ensuring its long-term sustainability.

Our challenge
The Community Fundraising Team is an integral part of The Charity Fundraising Portfolio, with an income target of £3.6 million in 2024/25 and the team consists of Community Fundraisers based across the UK. Our role is to provide fundraising advice and support to our DIY individual fundraisers, Supporter Groups, Community Organisations and Regional Corporates.

We are looking for community researchers specialised to contribute to our community-led working circle who are working on on a listening project to ensure often underrepresented voices in conservation and environmental projects are heard and centred. 

There is opportunity to lead on projects and facilitate the direction of the working circle.

The Inclusivity Circle currently meets monthly on a Wednesday evening on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely.

While your experienced research skills are crucial, we also value your ability to engage with the community and build partnerships. Experience in conducting community-based research or working with community organisations is important. You should be an experienced teacher, educational consultant, forest school leader, training and development specialist, learning designer, facilitator or any other kind of role creating learning projects, programmes and experiences. Our roles are quite flexible. We hope that people bring radical imagination, peace with nature, and courageous inclusiveness to the role. 

Your support will help young people and learners improve their environmental knowledge of design and research as well as contributing to our community-owned park. This will in turn provide a sense of stewardship over the land once the park is created and student's ideas have been built into the park. 

Creating learning projects with educational institutions will also help our charity with the strategy to buy the land through showing the value of our environmental education programme before we create the park.

What You'll Be Doing:

Your contributions will vary based on your experience and availability:

Core Activities (Everyone):

• Create engaging social media content across multiple platforms
• Manage our existing Facebook presence and help expand to Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok, and others
• Schedule and post content consistently to build audience engagement
• Respond to comments, messages, and build genuine community connections
• Share volunteer stories, service impact, and behind-the-scenes content
• Help grow our follower base and reach more people who need our services
• Create content to attract new volunteers and showcase volunteering opportunities
• Develop posts highlighting our impact to attract potential sponsors and supporters

Advanced Opportunities (For Experienced Creators):

• Develop comprehensive social media strategies and content calendars
• Analyse performance metrics and optimise content for maximum reach
• Create platform-specific content strategies (Instagram stories, TikTok trends, LinkedIn posts)
• Lead targeted campaigns for volunteer recruitment and sponsor outreach
• Create compelling impact stories and case studies to attract potential sponsors
• Engage with local businesses, community groups, and potential funding partners
• Develop sponsor recognition content and partnership announcements
• Mentor newer volunteers and coordinate with our video content creator
• Advise on emerging platforms and social media best practices

We're Looking For:

Essential (Everyone Needs):

• Enthusiasm for social media and helping others
• Understanding of at least one social media platform well
• Ability to work independently and represent our charity authentically
• Genuine care for supporting isolated community members
• Basic writing skills and eye for engaging content

Professional Level (Bonus for Advanced Roles):

• Experience managing business or charity social media accounts
• Knowledge of social media analytics and growth strategies
• Understanding of accessibility best practices for social content
• Experience with content scheduling tools and social media management platforms
• Graphic design skills or familiarity with tools like Canva
• Experience with sponsor outreach, partnership development, or B2B engagement
• Understanding of volunteer recruitment best practices through social media

The Reality Check:

We're a small charity with huge hearts but zero budget for premium tools. You'll use free platforms and scheduling tools.. What we offer instead is complete creative freedom, trusted autonomy, flexible scheduling, and the chance to build something meaningful from the ground up.

Working Arrangements:

This role is completely remote and flexible. Whether you're fitting this around a full-time job, between classes, or during your free time, we'll make it work. You'll initially report to our volunteer coordinator but will quickly gain autonomy to represent us authentically across platforms.

Time commitment: From 3-5 hours per week (perfect for students) up to whatever you can offer (great for professionals wanting deeper involvement). We understand social media works best with consistent, smaller time blocks rather than long sessions.

Collaboration: Sometimes you'll coordinate closely with our video content creator to cross-promote content, other times you'll work independently based on the type of content and campaigns.

As a trustee, you'll help guide our work and ensure we remain strong and sustainable, especially during these challenging times.
