The Director of Finance and Resources is responsible for managing the charity’s finances efficiently and accurately, ensuring that all financial activities are carried out in compliance with statutory, regulatory and contractual requirements. Playing a key role in strategic planning, including planning for future budgets and allocation of resources in collaboration with the CEO and Board, the Director of Finance & Resources also leads on HR and IT for the Trust and supports the implementation of good governance practices. The role oversees the production of monthly management accounts, line-managing the Finance Officer who takes care of day-to-day financial functions. You will provide financial recommendations to the Finance & Audit Committee (which meets quarterly), ensuring that the Trust’s financial practices adhere to statutory regulations and legislation. The Director of Finance & Resources also leads on the Trust’s annual audit and production of Annual accounts, filed with the Charity Commission. For this role you will need to have strong experience in finance, accounting or a related field, demonstrating excellent analytical skills and numerical proficiency alongside capability to think strategically and facility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Everyone associated with the Trust works remotely and has always done so. Our team, Board, volunteers and partners are UK-wide and so meetings and events are held regularly in London and across the country. You will report to the CEO and line manage the Finance Officer. As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will regularly collaborate with our Board of trustees and, particularly, the Chair and members of the Finance & Audit Committee.

About the role

As the GIS Manager, you will lead the strategic use of GIS at Sustrans, embedding spatial tools and data across the organisation. You’ll manage a small team of talented GIS Officers, support projects, and drive the development of our ArcGIS and FME architecture. We are passionate about our work rescuing dogs from local authority pounds that are at risk of euthanasia after their statutory 7-day holding period. For over 13 years, we’ve operated on the goodwill and tireless effort of volunteers to support behaviour, training, fostering and adoptions. As our organisation grows, so too does our need for a more structured and sustainable approach. Thanks to recent 2-year grant funding, we are building a small, impactful team to increase the scale and quality of our work—and ultimately save more dogs.

The Canine Programmes Manager is a new and vital management role that will directly impact our ability to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs more efficiently and effectively. This role will initially absorb and professionalise the work currently done by our dedicated volunteer adoptions coordinator, while also overseeing a small but growing team that will include a dog behaviourist and a foster co-ordinator. You will be responsible for streamlining the full journey of a dog in our care—from assessment to adoption and beyond—ensuring our dogs are ready for homes faster, adopted quicker, and retained in homes longer. The successful candidate will be highly organised, people-focused, and animal-passionate, with strong experience in rescue or rehoming management.  This role will be working directly with a variety of dog breeds, sizes and temperaments. 

Your work will be a mix of working on site and WFH. Flexibility will be required and own transport a must as we are situated rurally.

• Strong background in rescue, animal welfare (particularly dogs), adoption services, community-based case management.

The Finance Manager role is a newly created role which is being introduced to strengthen the organisation’s financial management and control systems. The postholder will work across the breadth of the finance function preparing internal management accounts and external annual accounts.

In 2024, Cord changed its finance system to use Business Central. The Finance Manager will become the organisation’s main ‘admin’ user of the finance system. In the near-term, there will be a particular focus on rolling out further functionality of the system and developing financial policies and procedures. 

The Finance Manager will have oversight of the UK finance function through the line management of the UK Finance Officer and will directly deliver on the international side of operations in the areas of donor compliance, programme financial management, partner financial monitoring, and reporting. Community Project Lead

IPSEA is the leading charity in the field of SEND law in England, and we provide free and independent legal advice and support to families of children and young people with SEND. We also provide training on the SEND legal framework, and we influence policy at both a local and national level.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Community Project Lead to join our team and lead the development of our advice services for under-served communities. This two-year, fixed-term role is a key part of our strategy to reach groups who may not traditionally engage with IPSEA’s support - including children and families with English as an additional language, cared-for children (children in care), migrant children, detained children, and Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities.

The project builds on a detailed scoping exercise we’ve recently completed, which involved working closely with a wide range of charities and organisations that support these communities. The resulting report outlines the barriers they face, and will form the foundation for this project and directly inform the work you will lead.

What you’ll do 

• Design and develop pilot advice services that are tailored to the needs of under-served communities, using findings from IPSEA’s research 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with community groups, charities and service providers to co-produce accessible services 

• Collaborate with IPSEA’s advice, legal and policy teams to address the barriers these communities face in accessing SEND legal advice 

• Contribute to and share outreach materials, training resources and toolkits to support families of under-served communities and empower local advocates 

• Plan and lead workshops, focus groups and community events to raise awareness, gather feedback and enhance service delivery 

• Monitor and report on project outcomes and impact, providing regular updates to IPSEA staff and stakeholders

Head of Finance

Location: Office Based - Boldmere, Sutton Coldfield

Salary: £45,000 pro rata (30 - 37.5 hours a week)

The Role

They are seeking an experienced, strategic, and dedicated Head of Finance to lead their small finance team and help them ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the charity.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the success and growth of a charity that makes a real difference in the lives of older adults and others in need.

As the Head of Finance, you will play a key role in overseeing all aspects of their financial operations. You will be responsible for providing financial leadership, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and supporting the strategic objectives of the charity.

Your expertise will guide the senior leadership team in making informed decisions, driving financial growth, and optimizing the use of resources.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the finance function, managing a small finance team.
• Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, charity law, and accounting standards.
• Manage income, cash flow, investment, and financial planning to ensure the charity's financial stability and growth.
• Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Support the CEO and Board of Trustees in financial planning and decision-making.
• Provide financial insights and analysis to inform strategic initiatives and fundraising efforts.
• Lead the annual audit process and work with external auditors.
• Monitor and manage risk, advising on financial risks and opportunities.
• Supervise the preparation of annual budgets, ensuring they align with strategic objectives and requirements.

About You:

They are looking for an individual with a strong financial background, with experience in the charity sector or not-for-profit organisations. You should be a strategic thinker with excellent communication and leadership skills. The ideal candidate will be proactive, hands-on, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification (or equivalent proven experience).
• Significant experience in finance management, including preparing and interpreting financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting.
• A deep understanding of charity finance regulations and governance requirements.
• Proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop a finance team.
• Experience in financial reporting to senior leadership and trustees.
• Strong Excel and financial software skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders.
• A proactive and solutions-oriented approach with excellent attention to detail.
