About Listening Books

Listening Books is a UK charity providing an audiobook lending service to children and adults who cannot access printed books due to illness, disability, learning or mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression.

About the role

Listening Books provides membership across the UK, with a subsidised membership fee of £25 per year for individuals, and free membership to those who cannot afford to pay a fee. The service is provided directly to individuals, but also through working with hospices, children’s hospitals, care homes and schools.

The Membership and Marketing Assistant will work within the Membership and PR team to help expand awareness of the charity’s work and increase membership in line with the PR and Marketing Strategy.

The Person we are looking for 

We are looking for someone with a passion for books and accessibility, who will enjoy the opportunities and challenges of working in a small organisation. 

This role is mainly focused around maintaining our social media accounts, using these tools to grow and engage our membership, so you’ll enjoy creating appropriate content and interacting with people online. Regular tasks include running an online book group and hosting author interviews, writing blogs, creating partnerships with other charities (for online activities, sharing of information etc) and helping the membership team with designing leaflets, posters and other content. 

As this is a part time role (21 hours per week), you’ll need to manage and divide your time consistently and effectively to meet your recruitment and marketing objectives. Excellent time management is essential.  You’ll have a good understanding of social media best practices and awareness of accessibility standards for content creation, as well as being equally comfortable speaking to members and partners on the phone, online or in person. 

The ideal candidate will have a friendly, can-do attitude, excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn and improve their skills, as well as a desire to help more people access books.  In return, we can offer you 20 days holiday (pro-rata and rising with service), as well as a generous pension scheme.  This is a part time role, and working hours can be flexible, within reason, to fit around parenting, caring responsibilities or other lifestyle choices.

About the role

We are seeking an Administration Officer to join our small and friendly team on a part-time basis (15 hours a week) ideally working 5 half-days, Monday to Friday (3 hours each day) but the exact working pattern is negotiable.

Job Description

Catch22 is looking for a compassionate leader to join our growing Greater Manchester Victim Services as Deputy Head of Service. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the service, ensuring the effective delivery of support for victims and witnesses as you help them on their journey to recovery.

Reporting to the Head of Service, you’ll provide line management to team leaders and administrators, implement systems for quality service delivery, and manage recruitment, training and supervision. You’ll work closely with police and other criminal justice partners to maintain strong referral pathways and ensure our services remain seamless and effective in its support for those that have experienced crime in the Greater Manchester area.

You will also contribute to strategic service development, quality assurance, safeguarding, and continuous improvement across the team. Your leadership will drive a culture of collaboration, learning and excellence.

Qualifications

The ideal post-holder will have:

A strong educational background, including English and Maths at GCSE level.

Proven experience managing and supporting teams in high-impact environments.

A track record of working with vulnerable individuals in multi-agency settings.

Confidence in performance management, risk assessment, and safeguarding practices.

Excellent communication, organisation, and IT skills.

A recognised management qualification or willingness to work towards one.

Knowledge of the victim and witness support system and a good understanding of the criminal justice landscape are highly desirable.

Executive Director

Boiler House Spaces is a small Hackney community charity seeking our new permanent Executive Director to lead the organisation in the exciting next stage of its development 

Position: Executive Director

Salary: £55,000 pro rata

Location: Hackney, London with some home-working

Hours: 17.5 hours per week (or higher if fundraising targets achieved)

Contract: Permanent

About the Role

As Executive Director of Boiler House Spaces, you will be responsible for leading the charity and its small and committed team, to develop strategic partnerships and funding to take the organisation forwards. 

Key responsibilities include:

Leadership & People

· Provide leadership, supervise staff/volunteers, and ensure service quality.

· Collaborate with teams for effective service delivery and staff coverage.

Strategy & Partnerships

· Represent Boiler House Spaces and develop partnerships with key stakeholders.

· Lead the Good Place programme with partners and the community.

Finance, Fundraising & Marketing

· Oversee finances, report quarterly, and manage fundraising.

· Build relationships with supporters and promote the organization’s profile.

Governance

· Support the Board with governance, strategy, and risk management.

· Lead the strategy and business plan implementation.

Capital Project & Other Duties

· Lead the capital project and ensure policy adherence.

· Manage emergencies and take on additional tasks as needed.

About You

An experienced successful leader and passionate about community development, you will be a great communicator, a team player with strong finance and project management skills and a willingness to roll up your sleeves.

You will have:

· Proven senior leadership experience with a track record in building partnerships and generating income

· Skilled in managing teams, creating a positive culture, and motivating others to deliver

· Strong financial management, including budget planning and oversight

· Excellent communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences

· Strategic and creative thinker with strong interpersonal and people management skills

· Understanding of the community sector or ability to learn quickly

· Proactive, collaborative, and resilient with a ‘can-do’ attitude

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, dynamic and commercially minded individual to join the Senior Management Team of one of the UK’s leading museums. Working alongside the Director and Board of Trustees, the Director of Finance and Resources will oversee the financial management of the organisation.

The successful candidate will be a qualified Accountant with a proven track record of operating at a senior level.  They will have the ability to offer insight and challenge for future development, whilst ensuring the financial sustainability and growth.

The Director of Finance & Resources is responsible driving the quality and transparency of financial management and reporting, ensuring robust financial controls and the smooth running and management of Museum and Trading finances.

With experience at Board level, they must be comfortable with presenting to Boards, have the ability to develop strategy and present business plans.
