About the Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager to join our growing and dynamic team. With a new CEO having joined the team in June we are on exciting journey of growth and development with a passion and commitment to fund specialist end of life care across West Northamptonshire.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the finance team and finance volunteers.
• Lead on month-end closing processes and producing timely and accurate monthly management accounts.
• Lead on year-end closing processes and oversee the audit process liaising with the auditors as required.
• Oversee payroll, cash management and the investment portfolio.
• Prepare VAT returns. Act as the key contact for VAT and ensure robust systems are in place to comply with HMRC requirements.
• Lead on the collaboration with the commercial and income generation departments to ensure accurate processes are in place, to include the sharing of data through manual or automated integration.
• Manage accruals and prepayments.
• Be the main contact for the use of the finance system and lead on resolving any issues.
• Review the Financial Procedures and Policies and update as appropriate. To include regular review of process improvement and risk mitigation.
• Control and update the Restricted Funds log.
• Ensure the finance team comply with accounting principles and company policies.
• Lead organisational contracts with utility and other service providers.
• Key member of the Leadership Team.
• Any other tasks and responsibilities commensurate with the role and needs of the business.

 Person Specification:

• Formal accountancy qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA) - essential

About the role 

CUF’s new strategy has a vision of ending poverty together.  Over the next three years we will be developing our relationships with our networks, partnerships, Dioceses and churches to respond, primarily, to relational poverty, recognising its place within the web of poverty. Our work will be mission and community resilience focussed, in the framework of asset based community development.

Through our work we will see more impactful, confident and mission focussed churches who are empowered to serve their local communities.  We will witness greater cohesion across Dioceses, schools, Christian denominations and Christian charities as a national movement to love and serve our neighbour, and challenge unjust structures of society. We will also work more strategically with communities of different faiths

in our resilience work, facing the challenges of relational and identity poverty.  We will work closely with the Church of England who have highlighted ministry in low income communities as a priority for resourcing.

We will be more confident in speaking out the truth about poverty, through a renewed influencing, policy and research team, who will take our grassroots and collaborative work to highlight unjust structures on poverty, and shape an ecclesial, political and sociological response.

In this newly created role you will develop our work on influencing and telling the truth about poverty, this is one of two objectives for the charity.  You will help build relationships of influence within the Church of England, Government and other decision makers to use our stories and impact to show the difference churches and faith groups can make in ending material and relational poverty.  You will develop policy positions on areas of CUF’s work in relation to poverty that will give a firm basis for our work, and that we will be able to speak out on with confidence and knowledge based on connection to grassroots churches and organisations.  You will develop a robust mechanism for reporting on impact, which goes beyond just evaluating our work but demonstrates the difference that faith based social action can make on ending poverty together.

This role will report to the CEO, but work across all of CUF’s teams and departments and will be responsible for the line management of the Listening and Learning Officer.

About the team

The media team strategically leads on both proactive and reactive media activity, engaging with journalists to support WaterAid’s mass engagement, partnerships, brand awareness and political influencing. 

As our Senior PR Manager, you will lead the public relations function for WaterAid and work closely with the three senior media officers you manage, to drive sustainable change.

In this role, you will:

• Lead on developing and delivering innovative integrated, digital first PR campaigns that achieve impactful national, international, local and digital coverage, to support our fundraising and public engagement activities, build WaterAid’s profile, and align with wider organisational aims 

• Manage our media around our high-profile strategic partnerships to deliver media projects that meet shared objectives and help our partners become influencers in their sector to drive change 

• Work with the Celebrity and Influencer team to develop effective ways to work with high-profile supporters to build awareness of WaterAid and our work 

• Act as a media spokesperson for WaterAid as required, briefing journalists on and off the record and giving media interviews where necessary 

• Provide professional advice and support to colleagues in the UK, including our Chief Executive and within the WaterAid federation involved in media relations work, and identify opportunities to coordinate media moments across the organisation 

• Manage reputational issues where appropriate in coordination with the Head of Media 

• Write and edit copy as required for print and web outlets 

• Monitor and evaluate coverage and the wider impacts of our media work to guide future strategies 
• Build and maintain relationships with key journalists and broadcasters including the planning and managing of trips to country programmes with journalists, celebrities or for content gathering 

• Join the 24/7 on-call rota and be prepared for travel in the UK and overseas - usually around two weeks per year - as well as some work outside normal office hours, as necessary

To be successful, you will need:

Glitch is going through an exciting period of transformation! We are developing our AI governance and algorithmic discrimination work, and further formalising our Black feminist underpinning. This role will be integral in ensuring that our mission, theory of change, and advocacy work sync up and fulfil their objectives and aims.

You’ll take a leading role in shaping and implementing our strategy to fulfil our mission. You will be responsible for setting the advocacy strategy alongside our Executive Director, which encompasses policy, research and campaigns elements of our overall advocacy strategy and work plan.

Our mission is to ensure that internet technologies in the information ecosystem do not replicate or further discrimination to Black women and other marginalised people. We’re a Black-led, transnationally-focused remote charity, with the majority of our staff in the UK. Our Executive Director (“ED”) travels frequently to Europe and elsewhere for business. This role will be expected to deputise for the ED at external events.

Our advocacy encompasses research, policy influencing and campaigning on tech-facilitated gender-based violence, algorithmic discrimination, platform governance and other technology-related harms impacting race and gender injustice.  We advocate on behalf of those excluded and ignored.

Role Overview

This position reports to Glitch’s Executive Director. Glitch is a distributed charity, and this is a remote position. You’ll work in a collaborative environment with a team and different stakeholders (civil society, parliamentarians, grassroots organisations, and our focal population) to achieve our mission. 

We are seeking a highly effective strategic leader and experienced team manager. To be successful at Glitch, the Advocacy Director must demonstrate an understanding of, and passion for Black feminist thought, and the ability to translate this critical social theory into organisational work, specifically towards systemic change with/in: tech policy, digital rights, AI governance and legislation, and tech-facilitated gender-based violence as it relates to broader social media platform governance. The Advocacy Director will also support fundraising and programme strategy (when necessary and appropriate).

Main Responsibilities

As Advocacy Director, you will play an important role in working towards our mission in several core areas: 

Advocacy - Policy (75%) 

• Identify new opportunities and respond to external developments, in the UK and transnationally where appropriate, on the issues of AI governance and platform governance, non-criminal redress for tech harms, and alt-right, fascism, and platform power.

• Ensure the delivery of the Mitigation strand of advocacy work.

• Oversee the updating of Glitch’s policy positions and recommendations and put forward proposals around new and emerging policy positions. 

• Manage associated advocacy budgets and feed into reporting requirements for all Mitigation strand work.

• Lead on all external policy requests (regulatory consultations, statements, joint letters).

• Develop and implement creative and influential campaigns to help us meet our strategic objectives and mission. 

• Work with the Programmes Director to ensure alignment with the Organising strand of advocacy work, identifying Mitigation opportunities to fulfil the theory of change.

• Maintain thorough knowledge of all aspects of our work and keep informed of external affairs - domestically and transnationally.

• Support in the development and commissioning of new research and campaigns in specific issue areas identified in our strategy, especially in the Imagining strands of our work.

• Maintain good knowledge of practices across the sector and relevant work happening in other organisations around our core issue areas. 

Influencing and Stakeholder Management (10%)

• Develop clear plans for influencing and change, working closely with the ED to agree allocation of responsibilities and areas to maximise impact. 

• Build strong relationships with external stakeholders. 

• Operate as the deputy to the ED for representing Glitch at meetings where a senior Glitch representative is required, especially for government and ecosystem events or meetings in the UK and Europe. 

• Develop briefings and agendas ahead of and for Glitch meetings with Ministers and officials, Parliamentarians and other key stakeholders.

• Maintain our records of interactions with key individuals and organisations in our CRM system, in line with good practice around data protection and GDPR.

• Represent Glitch through writing blogs and commentary on all of our core issue areas. 

Strategy and development (10%)

• Contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of our organisational strategy.

• Lead on the implementation of the Mitigation and Imagining strand of our advocacy framework, supporting the ED with strategy development.

• Ensure that resources are deployed effectively to progress and achieve our aims for change, particularly within our Mitigation and Organising strands of work, in collaboration with the Programmes Director.

• Carry out measurement, evaluation and learning of our Mitigation and Imagining strands of our advocacy work plan.

• Develop reactive advocacy strategies in response to changing policy, legislative or government shifts.

Leadership and people management (5%)

• Lead and role-model a high-performance, inclusive culture that is grounded in our organisational values. 

• Ensure resources are applied effectively and appropriately within the advocacy function.

• Ensure that delivery of advocacy work is aligned with agreed objectives and key performance indicators, through the effective management of staff and other resources. 

• Work with the Finance Director to ensure accurate allocations of advocacy personnel time.

• Line manage and coach direct reports effectively, empowering them to thrive and fulfil their potential. Such work would include: developing learning and development plans for advocacy team members in collaboration with direct reports, and running annual performance reviews.

We are seeking a capable and proactive Operations Assistant to help deliver this ambition. You will be responsible for a broad range of activities, including managing shared systems and records, supporting recruitment and onboarding, coordinating team events and workspace logistics, and providing day-to-day support with IT and organisational platforms. You will also contribute to finance administration, business development processes, and support initiatives that strengthen team culture and employee experience.

This role requires proven experience in administration, operations, or HR support, ideally gained within a consultancy, charity, or purpose-driven organisation. You will be confident using systems such as Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, and demonstrate the ability to learn and use new platforms effectively. You will be expected to manage tasks independently, apply sound judgement, and deliver work to a high professional standard.

You will need to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, associates, and suppliers, and work effectively across a range of internal functions. This will require excellent communication skills, strong organisational ability, and the flexibility to adapt when circumstances change. A high level of discretion and care will be essential, particularly when handling sensitive information or supporting compliance processes.

As a membership organisation, the role of Head of Membership & Impact is crucial to the core mission of our charity, and forms part of our core team, working closely with both our CEO and Head of Partnerships & Grants, with support from your line reports.

Membership: You will oversee our membership process of our 170 members, from new joiners to member training and networking provision. The responsibilities of membership are varied, but include

• Ensuring a rigorous membership onboarding, survey and renewal process
• Designing and facilitating a comprehensive membership and events offer that meets members’ needs and fulfills our commitments from funders;
• Maintaining strong direct relationships with members, and overseeing the work with supplementary schools  

Impact & Communications: You will lead YCF’s impactful communications and reporting. Responsibility areas will include:

• Overseeing YCF’s collection and effective use of our CRM and data, including about members
• Developing and writing effective and impactful reporting and storytelling of YCF’s work
• Embedding effective communications across YCF’s team
• Overseeing YCF’s online presence, including social media and our website

Youth engagement: Finally, you will oversee YCF’s youth engagement, via the following areas:

• Overseeing the delivery of our Young Ambassadors programme, in coordination with a leading youth social action provider, in line with best practice
• Facilitate and develop impactful opportunities for young Camdeners to have a say in decisions that impact them

You will also be a key leader at YCF and a core member of the SMT, managing two part-time staff members. You will champion the areas of membership, impact and communications and youth engagement across YCF and with external stakeholders. You will be called upon to represent the organisation in key spaces, including with Camden Council, key funders, and elsewhere.

Our organisational income has grown consistently year on year since we registered in 2018. Finance Manager 
We are seeking a Finance Manager to join the growing Reaching Higher team and bring our finance function fully in-house. We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented professional who will play a pivotal role in ensuring strong financial systems, accurate reporting, and sound financial planning. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record in financial management and governance, budgeting and forecasting, payroll and pension oversight, and the ability to provide clear strategic insight and analysis to support organisational growth and sustainability.

Purpose of this Role

Our finance functions are currently partially outsourced to an external contractor. Our income has grown significantly over the past five years and our Board have now decided to employ a Finance Manager and bring financial expertise in-house. In this new position as the Finance Manager at Reaching Higher, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and planning, payroll and pension management, and financial governance and compliance. You will support all aspects of Reaching Higher’s work and development through ensuring strong financial systems. 

You will work closely with our team to ensure that all day-to-day finance requirements are met, including accurate grant finance monitoring and reporting to multiple funders. You will also work closely with our senior leaders and board to build the charity’s financial resilience and the financial awareness of our wider team.

You will work closely with the Executive Assistant & Administrator and report to the Executive Director, as well as working closely with the Executive Team, Treasurer and wider Board.

Reaching Higher is a youth organisation which works with over 2000 young people aged 9-21 each year across Croydon and surrounding boroughs. Strategy and Planning

There is potential for the post to develop into a more senior role.  The post is funded by the national church for 3 years, but the expectation is that it will become a permanent role in the Diocesan structure.
