PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience

1. Proven experience and success in developing and drafting proposals and/or reports raising funds from trusts, foundations, other grant makers or the equivalent.

2. Experience of creating compelling and concise funding proposals, written documents and reports from a range of information sources, including detailed technical or sector specific information. about the organisation’s work.

3. Proven ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.

4. Experience of research techniques applicable to identifying funding opportunities and framing funding bids.

5. Financially literate with the experience of producing and interpreting budgets, or other detailed numerical information.

Key Duties:

Planning Reviewing and Organising

• Overseeing the day-to-day BVSC administrative processes which include booking rooms, diary management, receiving phone calls, managing a general email inbox, updating our website and database, helping problem solve if occasional IT issues occur.
• Processing and recording Community Lottery applications.
• Team members are responsible for their own administration; however you will provide admin support to the organisation eg booking training courses, managing room bookings, offering support to staff that are facilitating Teams meetings/training events.
• Maintaining levels of stationery and office supplies as appropriate.
• Ensure all electronic and paper record systems which contain sensitive or person identifiable records are stored in compliance with the Data Protection Action and our Information Governance standards.
• To actively plan, support, and administer BVSC’s networks, internal and  public meetings – taking minutes when required.
• To review current electronic filing systems, keeping folders organised, up to date and using archive appropriately.
• To be a key member of the communications team that manage the BVSC Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts keeping them current and relevant by scheduling content created by the team.
• Raising and processing Purchase Orders to buy equipment and services for the organisation.

Communication

• Respond to general enquiries, answer the BVSC phone and being the first point of contact in the office, ensure delegation of this responsibility in your absence
• Communicating with all partners via email, letter and over the phone

Research, Support & Development

• The post holder will help produce regular impact reports for senior staff
• Contribute comprehensively to the annual workplan, updating and completing actions as they arise

The Director of Fundraising and Engagement plays a crucial part in helping us achieve our vision that no family whose child has cancer, or a life-challenging condition should have to cope alone.  With an ambitious fundraising aim over the next 3 years, you will be leading a dedicated Fundraising and Engagement team to generate in excess of £1.2million income annually.

As a vital part of the Senior Management Team, you will report directly to the CEO. Your role involves leading the Fundraising and Engagement team, where you will develop and implement innovative fundraising and engagement ideas along with bringing a high level of enthusiasm. As a hands-on and creative fundraiser, your pivotal responsibility is to ensure Momentum’s income sustainability while fostering personal growth and development for our team members.

Fundraising Officer – Grants and Events

About Us

The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. We are also very proud of our UR4Driving programme, which supports people recently out of prison with free driving lessons in exchange for community volunteering. Gaining a driving licence greatly enhances their future employability prospects and helps break the cycle of re-offending. The role

This newly scoped role reports into the CEO and is critical to our ability to create the income we need to keep up with the ever-increasing demand on our services. Primarily, the role has two fundamental elements to it: firstly, working with both a specialist external consultant and the CEO in planning, submitting and reporting on the grants that make up a large proportion of our income; and secondly, the planning and managing of TUR’s traditional (and always fun) annual events. These include celebrity interviews and talks, garden parties and various community events such as the Green Days festival in Chiswick. There are additionally a number of community relationships that add great value to our work and efforts to raise funds which require regular contact. Occasionally, the role will also require presenting or talking to both funders and community groups as we share our magnificent story with them – and ultimately, convince them to support us.

About You

You live within – or know well – West/Central London; you probably need a job with some working flexibility and want to have genuine belief in the cause you’re promoting. You have a CV that demonstrates experience in a comparable role: this could be in another charity, CIC or other Non-Profit organisation. You are comfortable and confident with working autonomously, so you will need to be disciplined; you can articulate and ‘bring to life’ our story through your advanced written and oral communication skills, enabling us to always deliver highly compelling reasons to secure gain financial (and other) support. You don’t need to be a Microsoft Office expert, but you should be familiar with Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Finally, you are self-motivated and energetic, as well as passionate about making sure disadvantaged groups across West London get the opportunity to improve their highly challenging lives. Ideally you will have a driver's licence and use of a car, but this is not essential.

We're looking for a passionate and experienced Fundraising Manager to lead our fundraising strategy. You will work closely with our CEO and Fundraising Officer to raise funds from a range of sources to support our work with refugees, asylum seekers and migrants. This is a new role which will lead on major donor fundraising and development of corporate partnerships and earned income through an in-house employee servicing and team away-day offer. We are seeking an experienced Trusts and Foundations Officer preferably from the North of England to join the fundraising team at the Batten Disease Family Association (BDFA).

The BDFA is the only patient organisation in the UK for families affected by Batten disease, a rare and terminal neurodegenerative condition that affects children and young adults. The BDFA offers informed guidance and support to families and the professionals who work with them, as well as actively raising awareness, and promoting research into the management of Batten disease to improve patient care pathways and ultimately find a cure.

- A background in report writing and demonstrating grant impact whilst being able to build relationships with funders and individual/major donors.

- Experience of providing excellent supporter care and building mutually beneficial long-term relationships with funders.

- Experience of targeting large grant-making bodies and securing 5-6 figure grants

- Expert knowledge of fundraising landscape, particularly Trusts & Foundations.

• Alongside the CEO, you'll support the board of trustees in ensuring organisational governance is solid.  

To succeed in the role, you will need to have: 

The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader who has successfully led a team and can build relationships at all levels. You will have strong experience in charity financial management, significant operational experience ideally within the charity sector, including HR and people, improving policies and systems, and charity governance. You will be a highly motivated and driven self-starter, able to adapt quickly when priorities change. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience of leading internal organisation communications and creating high level reports and presentations. You will also have experience of implementing equality and human rights standards, for example the social work model of disability and anti-racist practices, throughout all areas of work. The Bild Group - Bild, the Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) and Bild Association of Certified Training (ACT) - are three independent charities with their own governance arrangements, who share the same common goal. The Group shares support functions including communications, finance and HR.

Our Chief Operating Officer is a newly established role to have oversight of all Bild operations and those of the Restraint Reduction Network, a charity

with an ambitious vision to eliminate the unnecessary use of restrictive practices in health and social care and education

The responsibilities of the COO are multifaceted. In addition to being the lead for the efficient functioning of the organisation, the role is responsible for ensuring that all grant funded projects are run smoothly and are completed on time and within budget. This includes our traded services such as workplace training and qualifications programmes.

The role deputises for the Chief Executive and is responsible for HR and future workforce planning as well as business development across the group.

We are seeking a senior manager with relevant sector experience – charity, disability, health, social care, education – who has held responsibility for multi-programme and project management delivered in co-production with stakeholders and partners. Your responsibilities will have included the development of a sustainable income generation programme, the production of funding bids and reporting to funders.

Your wider people management experience will have included multi-disciplinary team leadership and involvement in, or leading, wider people and organisational development interventions.

Fundraising Manager – Income Generation and Marketing & Communications  

Local Government Scale: P02 SCP 30-33 £38,936.70 to £41,961.97 pa FTE for 35 hours per week (pro rata for part time),  including London Weighting plus 6% contributory pension.  21 to 35 hours per week. Permanent 

Age UK Camden is a local, independent and innovative charity which has provided services to older people in Camden for more than 50 years through diverse and inclusive services.  These services are highly valued by the residents of Camden and the voluntary and statutory sectors.  

 We are looking for a dynamic, experienced Fundraising Manager to work with us in Camden’s largest charity working with older people. 

This will be an exciting opportunity to diversify your skills in order to manage a portfolio of work that ranges from Fundraising, Income Generation in areas such as our Charity Retail Shop, our Marketing and Communications and our Community and Corporate Engagement,  You will line manage a dedicated and skilled team who work to deliver in all of these areas.  You will also work closely with the CEO and the external bid writer who focuses on funding from Trusts and Grants. 

The successful candidate will be experienced in a range of fundraising channels as well as having excellent communication skills in order to develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of audiences as well as internally with your team and the wider staff group. 

We offer hybrid working but anticipate that the majority of the time for this role will be based in Camden. Age UK Camden offers a contributory pension, and season ticket or bicycle loan facility.
