The country’s only dedicated ancient tree charity, the Ancient Tree Forum (ATF), is looking for a new Trustee with Fundraising Experience.

About us – The ATF seeks to secure the long-term future of ancient trees through advocacy of no further avoidable loss, good management, and the development of a succession of future ancient trees. The ATF is needed now more than ever – this is a critical time for ancient trees, the habitats they support and the landscapes in which they can survive and flourish. Youth Advantage UK is seeking a Volunteer Head of Policy to develop and lead its Long-Term Research & Policy Team in identifying and delivering on opportunities for the organisation to grow its impact. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating an ambitious yet achievable programme of policy work in line with the organisation’s strategic priorities. Working closely with the Heads of the Initial Research Team, the ideal candidate will use their prior experience to build strong and effective relationships with external actors with the potential for evidence-based change. Responsibilities:

What is an AND Associate Board Member?

We have developed a 12 month programme for two Associate Board Members. These roles will work alongside the AND Board of Trustees, and have been designed as a development  programme aimed to support potential candidates who do not yet have (sufficient) board-level experience, or the required availability, but have the passion and potential to be a future AND Board member.

The Associate Board Member roles have been created to support individuals who are currently under-represented in the cultural sector, providing greater access to training opportunities, and to add further diversity and richness of perspective to the organisation.

Associate Board Members will:

• bring unique experience from their field of expertise 
• share our passion for new ideas and artforms
• place inclusion and engagement at the heart of our culture and vision
• be provided with relevant shadowing, mentoring or training opportunities to support their skills development over 12 months
• attend quarterly AND Board meetings (without legal responsibility or voting rights) 
• have the opportunity to apply to become a Board Member after 12 months

Practical Details

AND’s Board currently meets for a minimum of four times a year, through a mix of online, and in person meetings in Manchester (UK). There are additional, occasional meetings and sub-committee groups which can be attended via video call. We’re looking for a new honorary treasurer who will work closely with the chair of the business management and finance committee to advise the trustee board on all aspects of business management and finance matters related to the work of Girlguiding Scotland.

The honorary treasurer will contribute to the delivery of Girlguiding Scotland’s strategy as a member of Girlguiding Scotland’s trustee board and the business management and finance committee.

We are currently seeking a Trustee with experience in senior leadership across multiple locations in secondary education, to join the board of The Olympus Academy Trust, a thriving and ambitious Multi-Academy Trust of nine schools in South Gloucestershire, with an annual budget of £60m.

The Olympus Academy Trust (TOAT) is a thriving and ambitious Multi-Academy Trust based in South Gloucestershire. Founded in 2012 from an all-through Free School, the Trust has grown steadily and now comprises nine schools: one all-through school (4–18 years), three secondary schools (11–19 years), and five primary schools, some with pre-school provision. All schools are located within a relatively compact geographical area, ensuring a coherent and collaborative working environment.

The Trust’s growth journey continues with a new 11–16 secondary Free School set to open in September 2026. This school will serve a significant new housing development and will grow year-on-year from Year 7 upwards. Ofsted outcomes across the Trust are strong: most schools are rated ‘Good’, and one with elements of ‘Requires Improvement’ was also recognised for areas of strong practice. No school within the Trust has been judged ‘Inadequate’. Financially, TOAT is robust, with an annual income of around £60 million and reserves managed in line with DfE guidance.

TOAT currently supports over 6,500 learners and employs more than 850 staff, serving a diverse population including pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL). Two schools host specialist resource bases—one secondary and one primary—supporting students with speech, language, and autism needs through commissioned places from the local authority, with a focus on integration into mainstream education.

Strategically, TOAT is in advanced merger discussions with a large 26 school Trust (20 primary, six secondary) that serves pupils aged 3–19 years. The other Trust includes six Church of England schools and is governed as a mixed MAT, with most schools rated ‘Good’ or better. If approved by the Department for Education (DfE) in summer 2025, the merger will create a brand-new Trust of 36 schools, one of the largest in the South West. This new organisation will operate under a new name and brand, while retaining strong links to the legacy Trusts.

As part of succession planning, the Trust is seeking to recruit a new Trustee with expertise in secondary education to join the board and play a vital role through the proposed merger and beyond. TOAT’s Trust Board is composed of professionals with expertise in education, finance, HR, risk, and estates.

The Trust’s Requirements

TOAT is seeking to appoint a Trustee with experience in secondary education, ideally someone who has held a senior leadership role across multiple schools. This may include experience within a MAT, a local authority improvement service, or working across schools in areas such as teaching and learning, curriculum development, behaviour, progress, attainment, or staff development. While not essential, an understanding of the current Ofsted Inspection Framework—or experience as an inspector—would be advantageous.

This appointment comes at a pivotal moment for TOAT, with the launch of a new school in 2026 and the prospective merger. The successful candidate will be expected to bring educational insight and leadership to the Board during this period of significant change, ensuring that standards remain high and pupil outcomes remain central to decision-making.

The new Trustee would also be expected to specifically contribute to the Education Standards Committee, which meets six times per year, typically on Tuesday mornings at 9.30am, and lasts up to two hours. Committee meetings are held in-person at Winterbourne Academy, Bristol (BS36 1JL), with remote attendance available in exceptional circumstances.

In addition, the full Trust Board meets six times per year, generally on Thursday evenings at 5.30pm, for meetings of up to two hours. Trustees are welcome to be involved in additional committees should they have the desire and capacity to do so.

The Trust is committed to effective governance, supported by a professional governance lead and secure access to papers via Google Drive. New Trustees receive a thorough induction and are well supported to make a meaningful contribution from the outset.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the leadership of a strong, forward-thinking Trust on the verge of significant transformation. What we are looking for and what we can offer

It is important to us that we attract Trustees from a range of backgrounds. You don’t need to have previous experience of being a trustee, so please don’t let that put you off!

We will offer an induction program and support to take up the position.

We aim to have a trustee board that reflects the local community, so we especially encourage to apply if you live in Tower Hamlets or who have a personal connection with Toynbee Hall, Tower Hamlets or the East End. Our Board is currently diverse in age, gender and ethnicity and we are committed to maintaining that diversity. We particularly want to hear from potential Trustees who are Black or Asian.

The essential responsibilities of a Toynbee Hall Trustee is to ensure that the organisation pursues its charitable objectives and ensure we remain a going concern.

Trustees must be people with independent judgement, with an ability to think strategically and creatively about the challenges and opportunities ahead.

For this role you will have a financial qualification with at least 3 years’ experience in finance / accountancy. Ideally experience in financial decision making. An understanding of charity funding would be an advantage.

Above all you need to have real enthusiasm for our work and for supporting and guiding our Chief Executive and Toynbee Hall’s passionate and committed staff and volunteers so that they remain focused on tackling inequality and poverty in East London and beyond. And in return we are commitment to helping you gain experience in the non-profit sector strategy and decision making.

 The time commitment to be a Trustee

We ask our Board members to attend four evening Board meetings a year, an annual away-day and to be a member of one Committee. Our Committees meet up to three times a year. At the moment our committee meetings tend to be over video, where Board meetings aim to be in person. In person meetings take place at Toynbee Hall’s home in Commercial Street, E1. Board and Committee meetings are held in the evening.

Each Board member serves for a three-year term. This will then be reviewed by the Board with a maximum nine-year term.

Our Board members are also active ambassadors for Toynbee Hall. This means attending and supporting events and taking opportunities to promote and develop the work of Toynbee Hall through networks and contacts.

Haig Housing Trust provides housing for veterans and their families. We’re looking for a passionate, experienced individual to join our Board of Trustees and help us drive real change.

What will you be doing?

Our purpose is to provide quality homes to improve the lives of veterans and their families. We have a long and proud history of supporting our beneficiaries. We have over 1,500 properties across the UK on small well-managed estates, ranging from six houses to 360 homes on our largest estate in Morden. Homes are available at an affordable rent. We also offer extensive support, advice and signposting to assist those in housing need. We believe housing is fundamental to building thriving communities.

This is an exciting time to join our board. Now under the recent Patronage of HRH The Princess Royal we have ambitious plans to improve our housing stock, grow the support we offer our beneficiaries and ensure they remain at the core of everything we do. We have a strong leadership team, a robust financial base and are confident about our future.

Due to planned retirement we want to strengthen the Board. We want to stress that no board experience is necessary to apply – we will help you to learn and grow. What we do ask is that you are committed, curious and collaborative.  If you have a legal background, that would be of particular interest.

We are on an important journey to improve our impact, growing investment in our properties over the next five years. We froze rents in 2022, allowing us to keep increases to below inflation over the last four years. We want to build our profile, thinking creatively about the needs of the veteran community and on how to innovate our service delivery for their benefit. With our new chair, the Board will shape our strategic goals, ensuring that we continue to deliver housing that is fit for the future.  

We are in a strong financial position. Total income in FY 23/24 was £12M.  We are debt-free with a strong balance sheet. We own our properties, have strong reserves and are diversifying our income, growing fundraising so that we can modernise our homes and increase our impact.

We are governed by a diverse Board of independent, non-executive trustees with a wealth of professional, charity and Armed Forces experience. Trustees meet formally every quarter and delegate specific issues to three committees (Finance and Risk, Estates and People) that report to the Board. Overall, we have c60 staff, based in Victoria, led by the Chief Executive and a Senior Leadership Team of four.

We do ask that candidates commit to:

• Attending four board meetings, a strategy offsite and four sub-committee meetings a year.
• Developing a good understanding of our operations and the environment in which we operate.
• Meeting the people we help and the teams that support them.
• Helping the board ensure the highest standards of governance and strategic focus.
• Monitoring the performance of Haig’s activities in a constructive and collaborative way.
• Making time, skills, and experience available (in and outside of regular board meetings).

The overall time commitment is around 1 day a month on average. Board usually meets in person in London each quarter; committee meetings are remote. Trustees are appointed for renewable terms of office of three years. The role is unremunerated, although expenses are reimbursed.

Hope Springs Health Foundation Uganda promotes community health equity among young people in underserved communities within Uganda

Hope Springs Health Foundation (HSH) Uganda addresses a range of pressing social and health challenges affecting vulnerable groups, particularly children, adolescents, and women in low-resource settings.

One of the core issues is the high HIV prevalence and teenage pregnancy in Mayuge District, where HIV rates are at 7% and teenage pregnancy stands at 27%, both higher than national averages. These challenges are often driven by transactional sex, early sexual debut, misinformation, and power imbalances in relationships particularly with older men. Adolescent girls face limited access to accurate sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information, increasing their vulnerability to exploitation and disease.

Another persistent challenge is menstrual hygiene management (MHM). Nearly half of Ugandan girls miss up to three days of school each month due to lack of menstrual products and adequate sanitation. This leads to increased absenteeism and school dropout rates, ultimately compromising their educational and economic futures.

Additionally, gender-based violence (GBV) remains widespread in Uganda, with women and girls disproportionately affected. Many communities lack the capacity to identify, report, and prevent GBV, leading to unreported cases and prolonged cycles of abuse.

For children living with chronic illnesses such as Type 1 Diabetes, limited awareness and lack of access to proper nutrition and physical activity pose serious health risks, especially in low-resource rural settings.

Hope Springs Health (HSH) Foundation responds to these intersecting challenges with innovative and community-centered health promotion interventions.

To combat HIV/AID and teenage pregnancies, HSH works with communities to implement UNICEF’s evidence-based intervention; “Sugar Daddy Awareness Classes” in schools. These sessions empower adolescent girls with knowledge about the dangers of cross-generational relationships and equip them to advocate among peers, promoting informed choices and reducing risky behaviors.

On the menstrual health front, HSH trains girls to make, use, and distribute reusable sanitary pads. This not only addresses a critical hygiene need but also provides a source of income and resilience for the girls. Environmentally, the use of reusable pads reduces plastic waste, contributing to greener communities. Socially, this empowers girls to stay in school, confident and informed.

To address gender-based violence (GBV), HSH conducts trainings targeting community stakeholders such as local leaders, religious leaders, police, health workers among others. These trainings strengthen the capacity of community members to detect, respond to, and prevent GBV through coordinated referral systems and advocacy.

For children with Type 1 Diabetes, the “Active Hearts, Healthy Lives” program supports them through community education on physical activity and nutrition. This program helps improve their quality of life by promoting healthier lifestyles in contexts where resources are scarce.

Fundraising Officer

Volunteer Role Description (remote, unpaid)

Hope Springs Health Foundation Uganda (HSH) is seeking a proactive and reliable Volunteer Fundraising Officer to support our resource mobilization strategy. This is a great opportunity for a student or recent graduate in Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field to build hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising, proposal writing, and donor relations. The Fundraising Officer will work directly with the CEO and programs team to develop compelling proposals, identify funding opportunities, manage donor outreach using tools like Sales Navigator, and maintain an organized and up-to-date funding database. The role requires excellent communication and time management skills, a high level of professionalism, and a commitment to confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities • Draft high-quality project proposals, concept notes, and funding applications tailored to donor requirements. • Use tools like Sales Navigator and other platforms to identify and connect with potential donors, meeting weekly outreach targets. • Maintain and regularly update a structured database of funding opportunities, donor contacts, deadlines, and communications.. • Collaborate with the communications team to develop professional fundraising and pitch materials. • Attend online fundraising webinars, donor briefings, and conferences to stay updated on trends and opportunities. • Assist in organizing donor records, tracking feedback, and filing proposal-related documentation. • Provide administrative and basic finance-related support (e.g., budget inputs, data entry).

Qualifications and Skills Education: • Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, International Development, or a related field. • Master’s degree is a plus but not required. Skills & Competencies: • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Strong research and analytical skills. • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines independently. • High level of reliability and commitment to confidentiality. • Willingness to learn and use new fundraising tools and CRM/database systems. • Tech-savvy and comfortable attending online meetings, webinars, and virtual donor events. • Familiarity with donor landscapes (e.g., foundations, bilateral donors, UN agencies) is an advantage.
