About the role
As Senior Finance & Operations Manager at Future Frontiers, your role is to oversee the finance and operations functions for an ambitious social mobility charity with an income of circa £1.4m and a team of 20 people committed to achieving lasting impact for young people.
You will oversee day-to-day financial operations, manage a small team, and deliver accurate, timely reporting that supports strategic decision-making across the organisation. You will work closely with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure robust financial planning, compliance, and risk management. Your work will support and enable Future Frontiers’ mission and help us maximise our impact.
Your responsibilities
The focus of this role is on financial management and reporting for the organisation, as well as overseeing operations such as HR processes and IT. Core responsibilities include:
Financial Management and Reporting
- Run the monthly finance cycle to strict deadlines, ensuring accurate and complete data to support decision-making.
- Deliver concise monthly management accounts and variance analysis vs budget in a timely manner with insightful commentary to inform the CEO, SLT and Trustees.
- Oversee receipts and payments, reconciliations, and month-end procedures to ensure data accuracy and robust financial oversight.
- Lead on statutory accounts preparation and external audit to ensure full compliance and smooth audit outcomes.
- Continuously improve financial policies and processes to embed best practice and compliance with relevant legislation and Charity SORP.
Financial Planning
- Prepare annual budget documents, working closely with budget holders and supporting with forecasting and revisions to ensure realistic, well-informed financial plans that align with organisational strategy.
- Produce consolidated accounts, forecasts, and cashflows with commentary to support Trustees’ and SLT’s decision-making.
- Partner with SLT to provide financial analysis that drives operational efficiency and supports income generation and strategic projects.
- Support the SLT to develop multi-year income and expenditure forecasts to aid long-term funding and resource planning.
- Ensure the finance system structure, workflows and reporting remain fit for purpose and effectively support operations.
Operations and Compliance
- Manage relationships with key suppliers and outsourced providers, including landlords, payroll, pensions and insurers to ensure service quality and value for money.
- Oversee the recruitment and on-boarding of new staff, supporting the Finance & Operations Officer to coordinate the process, and supporting recruiting managers as needed.
- Ensure the maintenance of templates and processes to enable line managers to deliver the staff journey including inductions, staff surveys, annual reviews, and exits.
- Oversee the efficient usage of our database, systems and key platforms (including Salesforce, Xero, website), ensuring that the team is well resourced and has sufficient training to perform their roles.
- Oversee the management of IT hardware, software and systems, helping to keep Future Frontiers’ information secure and up to date, and acting as key liaison with third parties.
- Remain up-to-date on Charity SORP, legislation and sector best practice, supporting the CEO to ensure Future Frontiers remains compliant with HMRC, CC, ICO etc and is forward-looking.
People Management and Training
- Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing Finance & Operations team.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, ambition and excellence within the team.
- Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and support professional development.
- Support the building of financial literacy and understanding within the charity through training and supporting non-finance colleagues.

About you
- Experience, knowledge and qualifications
- Finance and accounting experience, ideally in a charity context (essential)
- Hold or be working towards a recognised accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA (essential)
- Demonstrable, up-to-date knowledge of Charity SORP (FRS 102) and financial regulations (essential)
- Strong understanding of financial systems, reporting tools and Excel, ideally with experience of using Xero or an equivalent system (essential)
- Proven track record of delivering concise monthly management accounts, audits, and statutory returns on time (essential)
- Experience in managing and developing finance teams / readiness to step up to a manager role (essential)
- Experience of managing an organisation’s office and/or operations (desirable)

The core of your role will be in generating funds from trusts and individual giving, with other fundraising and communications tasks included as time permits.

About More Than A Roof:
More Than A Roof is a charity dedicated to empowering individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Our vision is a world where everyone has a secure home, and no one needs to stay in temporary accommodation to avoid homelessness. We work alongside vulnerable people in temporary accommodation to improve their lives and communities, unlock their potential, and open new possibilities. We provide practical and emotional support and stability, aiming to make any stay in temporary accommodation short, rare, and non-recurring. We work in close partnership with organisations like The Housing Network, Community Shop and a large number of Local Authorities.
The Role:
The CEO will be responsible for leading the strategic growth, fundraising, and external engagement of More Than a Roof. This role will focus on developing and communicating the charity’s mission, building strong partnerships, and securing funding to expand our impact across the UK.
The CEO will act as the external face of More Than a Roof, engaging supporters, funders, and strategic stakeholders to raise awareness and increase income. While the charity exists to support individuals & families experiencing homelessness, delivery of frontline services and direct engagement with residents is undertaken by our partner organisations, such as The Housing Network. The CEO will ensure that the voice and experience of those we support shapes our fundraising narrative, advocacy, and programme design, without duplicating the operational role of our delivery partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work alongside colleagues at The Housing Network to support individuals and families (including individuals over 18’s, families, and prison leavers) as they move into temporary accommodation.
- Facilitate connections for beneficiaries within the local community in Leicester, helping them build support networks.
- Signpost beneficiaries to relevant external support agencies and services to address their diverse needs (e.g., health & wellbeing, training & life skills, employment, financial matters).
- Collaborate closely with on-the-ground partners, such as Community Shop in Leicester, to ensure integrated support.

Key Responsibilities Include
- Deliver Strategy: Bring to life Blossom’s new programmes and broader operational strategy for 2026 to 2030 by taking overarching responsibility for programmes across the charity including:
- Hub Launch & Development: Lead the creation of new local hubs in counties outside of Surrey and maintain delivery of existing hub’s.
- Annual Curriculum Design: Use public, service user and secondary research projects and other evidence based processes to develop and implement a full annual curriculum.
- Short-Term “Accelerator” Campaigns: Plan and execute thematic campaigns with the purpose of accelerating access to work.
- Digital Content & Community: Develop and launch online resources on our digital members portal.
- On Site Monitoring: attend hubs and accelerator programme delivery to monitor, seek areas of improvement, and connect with service users & leaders.
- Volunteer & Leadership Management: Recruit, train & support a team of volunteers and “Hub Peer Leaders”.
- Service User Management: Oversee and maintain a central database of service users.

The Role

Role Overview: Fundraising and Operations Director
The successful candidate will lead RLS’s income generation through our next phase of development. You’ll oversee our relationships with key funders, individual giving, our approach to major donors and our communications. You’ll work closely with the Management Team and trustees to set and implement fundraising strategy and highlight and manage risk.

Person Specification

About Sculpt UK
Sculpt is a UK-based charity with over 20 years’ experience, who support young people to shape their own future. Our vision is that we live in a society where young people can be fulfilled through their education, work and participation in wider society. The need for our work is clear given the increasing problems young people face and their lack of confidence and awareness regarding their journey into the world of work.
We run a range of bespoke programmes that work directly with young people in conjunction with partners - schools, careers hubs, employers, local government and further/higher education. What are we looking for?
Sculpt UK is hiring a bookings coordinator and youth programme officer who would deliver our direct intervention work with young people aged 12-16 with a focus on skills building around employment through our holistic work experience programmes. Approximately 75% of our under 16s work involves working with young people who have SEND or who are at risk of becoming NEET (not in employment, education or training). Training on working specifically with SEND students will be offered to the successful applicant.
The role will also manage our bookings with schools and individuals across projects. This job is a 70/30 split between Youth Programme Officer and Bookings Coordinator.

Contribute toward and keep up to date with Sculpt UK’s internal / external communications platform such as slack, newsletters and social media

Engage with Sculpt UK’s Youth Advisory Board members when invited to do so.
Bookings Coordinator:
-
Have a strong understanding of the USP of each programme offered by Sculpt
-
Manage booking system and calendar
-
Take calls with schools and individuals about booking onto programmes
-
Manage bookings from outreach to completion of the programme
-
Book work experience days at partner organisations, including doing the associated administration

Develop mini reports on each programme to feedback impact to schools and individuals
-
Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of projects
-
Ensure that the Sculpt website has up-to-date programme information, application deadlines etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Exceptional Organisation

Exceptional organisational and planning skills
-
Skilled at facilitating workshops and working with young people who have a range of backgrounds and experiences
-
Experience working with young people in an educational, sports or community setting
-
Ideally experience working with SEND young people
-
Confident, self-motivated and with a collaborative mindset

Commitment to young people and knowledge of issues affecting their lives

Excellent communication, interpersonal skills with the ability to create a safe and non-judgemental space, that allows young people to speak freely

Capable to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries with young people, peers and professionals

Able to adapt and be flexible in workshops to get the best engagement from a range of participants

Skilled at facilitating virtual workshops and working with a selection of online portals
Requirements

Hold an enhanced DBS certificate or be willing for us to undertake a check on your behalf
-
Have a recent safeguarding qualification from a recognised provider or be willing to undertake additional training in this area

Ability to travel - the role will require you to travel around London when delivering at schools

Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, confidentiality, data protection and commitment to reporting concerns to an appropriate staff member
