To provide information, advice, support and advocacy to the women living within our refuge. You will be responsible for providing women with continuous one-to-one support, practical advice and advocacy and ensuring that the women receive comprehensive support that addresses their physical and mental health, social care, housing, immigration and benefit-related needs.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide a professional high-quality VAWG advocacy and outreach service.
2. Undertake casework and advocacy (this will include liaising with relevant professionals and agencies such as solicitors, social workers, police officers etc.)
3. Provide practical support such as accompanying women to appointments and courts, making reports to such agencies or collecting belongings and otherwise taking all necessary steps to ensure the general safety and wellbeing of women and children.
4. Write assessment reports and support letters, and under supervision, help to collect evidence and statements, as well as undertake some basic legal representation.
5. Undertake risk assessments for referral to the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARACs)
6. Establish links with key partners [local authority, police, health, schools, etc.] to ensure effective referral routes and information sharing protocols.
7. Assist in developing and meeting quality standards in relation to advice and casework. This includes administration and IT systems for advice and casework.
8. Cover the helpline as required.
9. Assist migrant women to access immigration advice, and assist in meeting their housing needs.
10. To undertake campaigning and policy work arising from the advice and casework (this may involve some weekend/evening work)
11. Where necessary to assist staff in organising and running support group activities and consultations for women who are isolated and vulnerable due to their experiences of violence and abuse.
12. To publicise and provide S4S services, and attend, contribute and represent the organisation at relevant local meetings or initiatives.
13. To support and mentor the Women’s Council.
14. Follow S4S policies and procedures, and maintain IT and case file management systems.
15. Contribute to S4S record keeping and provide information for monitoring, evaluation, policy, and research and training purposes.
16. Ensure women are referred to S4S projects and activities as required for example, counselling or group work.
17. Support women residing in the refuge as required.
18. Be self-servicing and to assist other workers when required.
19. Undertake any additional duties which will contribute to the smooth running of the S4S services and projects.

In order to deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility is required, and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. Such duties, however, will fall within the scope of the job at the appropriate grade.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the friendly, dynamic, multi-disciplinary team at the Centre of expertise on child sexual abuse (CSA Centre) as our new Policy Manager. This is a key role within the CSA Centre, central to our ambition to raise awareness of the true scale and nature of sexual abuse and to drive evidence-informed improvements in policy and practice.
About the role:
The CSA Centre aims to reduce the impact of child sexual abuse through improved prevention and better response, and our work in influencing and shaping policy at local, regional and national level is key to that mission.
As our Policy Manager, you will play an important role in developing and delivering the CSA Centre's policy influencing activities over the immediate and longer term, helping us to ensure that our evidence, learning and resources have the widest possible reach and impact at both local and national level.
You will have the opportunity to work closely with the CSA Centre's Senior Management Team and our multi-agency, multi-disciplinary team, enabling you to draw on expertise from a wide range of different professional backgrounds, and with colleagues from across Government and key stakeholder groups.
We are looking for a motivated person with strong skills and experience in policy roles, and the ability to manage an extensive and varied workload to deliver multiple objectives. Policy activity at the CSA Centre is extremely diverse; in any given week you might find yourself joining (or in many cases leading) discussions with other leading charities to agree a joint influencing plan for new government legislation, meeting with senior civil servants to discuss proposed changes to legislation or guidance, working with the Senior Management Team to develop new policy positions on emerging areas of concern, linking up with our specialist practice improvement advisers or research and evaluation team to consider the policy implications of new CSA Centre initiatives… No two days are the same!
As Policy Manager at the CSA Centre you will play a key role in tackling child sexual abuse, alongside the work of our colleagues across practice, research, communications and training. This is important work - the CSA Centre conservatively estimates that one in ten children will experience some form of child sexual abuse before age of 16, and our ambitious programme seeks to improve the knowledge, skills and confidence of professionals (social workers, teachers, social workers, nurses etc.) in identifying and responding to child sexual abuse. We have already made great progress, but there is much more to be done – and we need your help to do it!
This role is currently funded until 31 March 2026, in line with the current grant funding arrangements for the CSA Centre. This will be reviewed in late 2025, as future funding for the CSA Centre from 2026/27 onwards is clarified.
Although this contract has a permanent status, please be aware that this post is subject to funding currently until March 2026 and therefore should this funding not be extended further, you may be subject to a redundancy consultation or a TUPE arrangement. This contract is due to expire on 31.03.26.

The Support and Outreach Worker will be a leading role in our belief of “A Hand Up Not a Hand Out”, and has been created to improve our service to vendors, helping them to increase their income through selling our magazine and providing casework support.
You will also positively promote The Big Issue in your local area, build partnerships with third-party organisations and identify and promote opportunities all with the aim of moving people out of poverty.
To offer our vendors the best possible support you will have experience and knowledge of working with vulnerable adults in a frontline setting, along with the ability to offer effective sales advice and guidance helping them to increase their income through magazine sales.
The role requires the willingness to drive a company van throughout the South East region, therefore a full driving license is essential and due to our insurance regulations you must be over the age of 21.

We are seeking an individual to raise awareness of the Fund’s welfare offer amongst social welfare agencies across South Wales but also, crucially, to help address the issue of social isolation and feelings of loneliness experienced by some members of the RAF Family.
The post holder will be working with socially isolated individuals to identify meaningfully enriching opportunities to reduce feelings of loneliness, some of whom may have complex and challenging welfare needs, to develop actions plans and coordinate support to overcome any barriers preventing successful connection into these enriching opportunities, assisting them by identifying appropriate support from within the RAF Benevolent Fund and the wider statutory and military charity sector.
The successful candidate will have experience of working in a social welfare role supporting individuals, have strong people and relationship-building skills, as well as empathy with or understanding of the issues affecting the Armed Forces community. Individuals with a social prescribing or working aged veteran support background are encouraged to apply.
This is a community-based position working from home but covering the South Wales region, delivering both remote and face to face support. Approved Premises (APs) work with high-risk people released from prison, providing a vital element in public protection arrangements. APs offer a level of contact, support and supervision within the community that is unique within the Criminal Justice System. Working closely with Probation Officers and other community services such as police, health, housing and substance misuse, we provide a stepping stone from prison into the community.
As a member of the Approved Premises team, you will model pro-social behavior and foster a positive, respectful culture with both clients and colleagues. You will actively engage with residents, supporting communal activities such as meal preparation, and contribute to the delivery of individual sentence plans in collaboration with probation officers, police, and external agencies.
Your role will involve providing administrative and practical support, ensuring daily tasks are completed, and following all operational protocols. You will encourage compliance and enforce rules relating to curfews and drug and alcohol testing as required. Keeping colleagues, multi-agency partners, and management informed is essential.
You will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the health, safety, security, cleanliness, and well-being of the premises and residents, utilizing tools such as CCTV, observation, and direct personal contact. Accurate, timely record-keeping and appropriate information sharing with respect for confidentiality are critical components of this role.
Using your initiative, you will identify and address additional tasks or emerging issues, working within the service to maintain an enabling environment. Adherence to the Approved Premises Manual, Hestia policies, and relevant justice service requirements is expected, alongside consistently demonstrating The Hestia Approach.
This role involves working closely with high-risk offenders transitioning from prison to community life, providing a unique level of daily support, supervision, and tailored interventions. You will empower residents to take responsibility for themselves while maintaining appropriate boundaries and supervision. The position operates on a rolling rota covering early, late, weekend, and night shifts to ensure continuous support and public protection.

Southern Synod are seeking to appoint a Safeguarding Officer. The post holder will be the main contact for the churches within Southern Synod to advise them on safeguarding children and adults at risk on a day-to-day basis, as well as providing training to a wide range of people as necessary. As a Waking Night Mental Health Recovery Worker at Hestia, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals within our Mental Health and Complex Needs service, helping them move towards greater empowerment and independence. About the Role:
The Triage and Early Intervention Officer (TEIO) will be responsible for making initial contact with adults who may require support after experiencing domestic abuse.
You will speak on the telephone to adults who have experienced domestic abuse and you will be responsible for completing risk assessments and safety planning.

The aim is to support young people to gain and develop the necessary skills for independent living and to manage transitions from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to Adult Mental Health Services.

The successful candidate will deputise for the Service Manager when required. This includes direct line management, leadership, coaching, and supporting Specialist Support Workers, Support Workers, and Waking Night Support Workers. About the Service
Housing First supports the most entrenched, excluded and hard to reach service users. It focuses on finding permanent housing as quickly as possible and then addressing the issues that have contributed to an individual’s homelessness. The Ruby Project, is a specialist Housing First programme supporting women who have experienced VAWG and other difficulties such as, substance misuse, experience of the criminal jusice system, having children removed from their care, mental and physical health issues etc.
‘I want someone who I can do nice things with, too, not someone who just talks about what has gone wrong, or drugs and other things……I think about those negatives all the time anyway and I want a worker who I can feel positive with, happy’ (service user supported by another Housing First Project).
About the Role
Accountabilities
- Provide a high-quality case work support and information service to victims/survivors who have experienced domestic and/or sexual violence.
- Advocate on behalf of clients with external agencies where appropriate, including at the MARAC
- Provide Solution-focused casework interventions with women who have experienced VAWG and Multiple Disadvantage
- Provide emotional support using a trauma informed approach.
- Build and maintain supportive relationships with women.
- Contribute to the completion of outcomes reports and funding returns when required.
- Complete all documents when support work commences and keep up to date with any changing risks to or from the woman.
