Summary

The Lead Strategy and Impact Analyst plays a key role in developing practical, evidence-based policies that support effective mission and ministry approaches within the Church of England's Vision and Strategy priority areas.

In this role, you will analyse and synthesise data from evaluations of funded programmes, commissioned research, and wider social trends, building a coherent evidence base to inform both policy and practice.

As a member of the Insights and Engagement sub-team, you will work collaboratively across departments and teams to:

• Support strategic projects through analysis, reporting, and evaluation

The Impact & Grants Manager will work as part of the Philanthropy Fund team to help guide our high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients in their grant making, revealing to clients the impact their generosity has achieved.  Performing thorough and appropriate research on causes that fulfil their giving strategy, you will also empower them to make fulfilling decision summary of the role.

The Role

We are seeking a Finance Officer with a keen eye for detail, and an aptitude for learning new skills, to take on purchase ledger and payroll administration duties in our Finance Department.   You will have either begun on the path of attaining a financial qualification or had some experience in a similar role.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all purchases, payments and returns, including supplier invoices, staff payments (salaries, expenses and advances), project and contractor payments and credit card transactions.  Responsible for project reporting against budget.

Key responsibilities (full responsibilities listed in the application pack):

• Ownership of the purchase ledger system, administering the entire process of invoice receiving, checking, coding, distributing for approval, posting to the accounts software (currently Sage), setting up domestic and international payments for authorisation, and electronic filing of documents.
• Administering all credit card returns including distribution of statements to colleagues, checking and coding returns, collating documents, submitting for line-manager approval, posting to Sage and following up on outstanding items.
• Administering staff and contractors expense claims, advances, returns and funds transfer requests, including checking and coding, submitting for budget-holder approval, arranging payment both domestic and international, and electronic filing of documents.
• Recording project expenditure against budget and drafting project financial returns to meet funder deadlines.

Are you passionate about fostering ecumenical relationships and shaping the strategic direction of ecumenically-based collaboration? We are seeking an experienced ecumenist to become National Advisor for Ecumenical Relations to support the Archbishops and Bishops in their ecumenical responsibilities, ensuring meaningful partnerships with churches across the UK and beyond.

The ecumenical sub-team is currently composed of three staff, two of whom (including the advertised post) are full-time, and one part-time, with access to administrative support from a fourth (half-time). The National Advisor for Ecumenical Relations is the sub-team manager. The sub-team is part of the Faith and Public Life team and is based at Lambeth Palace. It operates under the aegis of the Council for Christian Unity, reporting to the Archbishops' Council and also to the Archbishops of Canterbury and York.

What you'll be doing

The National Ecumenical Officer is a senior post, and the person appointed will work with the Council for Christian Unity to direct and manage the Church of England's ecumenical relationships at home and abroad and will work through the Office of the Archbishops to support the Archbishops of Canterbury and York in their ecumenical engagements.

As National Ecumenical Officer, you will promote, sustain and develop the Church of England's ecumenical relations, with a focus on enabling cooperation between churches in mission and evangelism. This involves working on cross-cutting issues with a bearing on ecumenical relations with other churches.

As someone considering this role, you will have extensive experience of ecumenical dialogue, whether locally, nationally or internationally, and a vision for ecumenism which holds unity and diversity together creatively. Main purpose of the role
 
In this rewarding role, you'll build on the work of your predecessor to support current volunteers, welcome new ones, and help shape a positive, inclusive experience across the Community. 
 
You’ll work closely with our leadership team to:

• Identify volunteer needs in the Community;
• Coordinate our accompaniment programme of volunteers offering reflective 1-to-1 conversations with members to support and develop their roles in L'Arche; 
• Ensure our volunteers are well-supported in their journey.
• Maintain essential records and DBS checks as part of the HR team to ensure regulatory and L'Arche standards;

This position does not offer visa sponsorship and is best suited for a candidate already located in the London area.
 
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build working relationships with colleagues across L'Arche;
• Be confident in talking to new people about l'Arche and building support for our mission;
• Be genuinely enthusiastic about attending and supporting Community events;
• Experience of working with volunteers and/or with an organisation supporting people with learning disabilities;
• Be open to holding a leadership position in a Community of people with and without learning disabilities that values nurturing each person's spirituality, celebrates Christian festivals, and has grown from Christian roots, while welcoming people of all faiths and none.

Help us make churches more Single Friendly!

Single Friendly Church Network is a young charity which encourages churches to welcome and value single people at every stage of life and of all types of singleness. Our work and influence are growing across a wide range of denominations. We want to reach more churches across the UK who could benefit from our resources and training, with the vision that all single Christians will be able to find a welcoming Single Friendly Church in their local area where they can flourish.

We achieved charitable status in 2023 (before that we were a Community Interest Company) and have a newly refined purpose and identity set out in a new website and other digital media (including in our promotional film ‘Inspiring Change’ available on YouTube). We have developed ‘5 Steps‘ towards becoming a Single Friendly Church.

We now aim to expand our impact across the UK and deepen our engagement with churches from a wide range of Christian denominations, in accordance with our strategy.

After 3 years our existing Executive Director is stepping down from the role and we are seeking a new person to take the next steps forward.

The role

• Leading a review of the Charity’s operational strategy in accordance with our agreed Mission and identity
• Setting operational objectives and targets for the team in accordance with Board directives
• Leading the Fundraising initiatives of the charity and developing productive relationships with funders
• Developing impact measures for internal monitoring and to evidence our work to funders
• Managing the team (including one-to-one meetings, setting targets and annual reviews)

• Building networks with churches, Christian groups, key influencers and a visible presence

• Keeping aware of issues around singleness and other relevant Christian topics

Skills

• Experience of leading an organisation or campaign
• An understanding of Christian culture and the different Christian traditions

The successful applicant does not have to be single – but does need to show awareness and understanding of the challenges facing single people in both Church and Society as a whole.

Terms

There is an office in central London. We are looking for someone who can commit up to 3 days per week on average, on a freelance basis. The successful candidate would likely be in the office one day a week. The hourly rate offered would be between £35 and £45 depending on experience.

Ascension Community Trust (ACT) is a much-loved community-based charity in Custom House, Newham.  We deliver a range of projects including Newham District Foodbank (a Trussell Trust foodbank run by ACT and two community partners), welfare benefits advice, immigration advice, ESOL classes, work with adults with learning difficulties, as well as work with children, young people and their families.

This an exciting time for the programme with a SEND school being built next door to our centre, and with established relationships with several care homes – we expect that this programme will go from strength to strength.

The programme currently consists of:

• Weekly Community Meal
• Gardening Project with children from a local SEND school.

You will have the leadership skills to support a small team of sessional staff. You will be at ease in relating to adults and children with learning difficulties as well as their parents and carers. You will be passionate about the well being and integration of people with learning difficulties with an understanding of their needs.
