Fundraising and supporter engagement plays a fundamental part in inspiring our supporters and our churches to give, act and pray, working in partnership to eradicate poverty. Our Fundraising and Supporter Engagement Department (which the Church Engagement and Fundraising Officer role sits within) is responsible for mobilising churches, individuals and philanthropists across a Give, Act and Pray continuum.
One of Christian Aid's historic strengths is in church-based community fundraising. Christian Aid has relationships with around half of the churches in Britain. Christian Aid Week has been running for over 60 years and still attracts around 60,000 volunteers to raise over £8 million.
About the role
Church Engagement and Fundraising Officers inspire churches and individuals to be agents of change with Christian Aid, in order to overcome poverty. The CEFO’s specific contribution is to offer bespoke support, often face-to-face, to a defined set of churches and Christian Aid groups, to enable and enrich their contribution. CEFOs motivate churches, groups and individuals to raise money, but to also enable lasting change, the role works in partnership on campaigning activity with individual campaigners, churches and, where appropriate, other campaigning partners. This role will be covering Essex and Cambridgeshire and will be fully home-based.
As a Church Engagement and Fundraising Officer you are responsible for working alongside our Volunteer Officers to support and develop volunteers within your region, and to draw on the expertise of volunteers where possible. Church Engagement and Fundraising Officers are measured against clearly defined targets and success indicators.
You will manage a wide caseload of churches and Christian Aid groups across Essex and Cambridgeshire, in a way that inspires participation to give, act and pray with Christian Aid. You will ensure Christian Aid serves, inspires and equips the spectrum of churches to make an impact on poverty.
You will bring your experience of church engagement and fundraising with you to build and nurture new and existing networks and relationships, speak confidently and effectively about the work of Christian Aid. You’ll meet fundraising targets, generate creative and effective engagement ideas and be ready to partner with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve multiple outcomes, including volunteers, leaders, pastors, ministers, colleagues and Christian media.
About you

- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Demonstrable experience and knowledge of church audiences.

- The ability to work unsupervised, under pressure and manage competing priorities to deliver multiple concurrent activities, delegating where necessary, within agreed deadlines and to agreed standards.
- The ability to travel frequently to locations throughout the region, including some evenings and weekends.

One in three people don’t have a Christian friend to invite them to church, open a Bible with them, or tell them the good news of Jesus. Under 10% of the inhabitants of London’s poorest districts attend Christian churches. We want to see that change. About the role
This role is responsible for growing Christian Aid’s institutional funding portfolio in our Francophone programmes specifically in Haiti, Burkina Faso and Sahel, and in support of the DRC and Burundi, and other country programmes to ensure strong contract management on their funds from institutional donors. Job Purpose and Objectives

Corporate (20%):
- Undertake Prospect research for potential corporate partnerships that would link into existing Mothers’ Union appeals, campaigns and Events.
- Develop and deliver creative pitches to secure corporate support against KPI’s and targets.
- Account manage, report to and steward all corporate partnerships meeting agreed income targets and track and sharing updates on process on a monthly basis.
- Develop a range of approaches, products and materials that support corporate fundraising activity.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Experience of project managing fundraising or marketing campaigns through a wide range of media, within a charity, agency or commercial environment.
- Thorough understanding of how fundraising techniques can be used to recruit and retain supporters (individual/corporate) in order to maximize their lifetime value.
- A track record of effective income generation from individuals and Corporates
- Excellent creative writing skills with a proven ability to write promotional materials, including fundraising copy and correspondence to organisations and individuals at all levels.

Education Qualifications

Work Location

About the role
Central Supporter Engagement Coordinators play a crucial role in stewarding, inspiring, and engaging a diverse range of churches and Christian Aid groups to build on the agency of Christian Aid’s supporters. They are accountable for establishing stronger and more effective relationships and maintaining and increasing supporters’ level of engagement. They undertake a diverse range of stewardship and enquiry management activities, as well as being proactive in equipping and motivating churches, groups and people to pray, act and particularly give, in order to expose the scandal of poverty and to contribute effectively to its eradication. They are accountable for capturing and processing supporter information and providing consistent outstanding customer service and stewardship. The team will be involved in data management and will gain specific expertise in Christian Aid systems. The Central Supporter Engagement team are also accountable for providing excellent office-based help to complement the efforts of regional colleagues, working as one to achieve the strategic objectives of the Fundraising and Supporter Engagement department and the wider organisation. You will work closely with regional colleagues across the UK.
About you
You will be used to working in a customer care environment, including handling enquiries and complaints and appropriately dealing with difficult issues, and working with a customer database, including inputting, editing and extracting data. You will be able to dealing with new and existing supporters by telephone and in written communications, and liaise and build relationships with a broad range of people in a friendly, outgoing and positive manner. You will have knowledge of good donor management or customer care.
You will be able to demonstrate appropriate assurance to set manageable expectations and deal positively with supporters whose expectations cannot be met. You will also have the ability to retain clarity and focus in a very busy environment with excellent attention to detail as well as a systematic approach to work.

We are a mission organisation who are working to transform the whole of India through the love of Christ, but we do that in a unique way. We don’t actually send missionaries, instead we train and resource local Indian Christians to reach out to their own people and share the love of Jesus, and we have been successfully doing that for 40 years. We have a small team here in the UK but we also work closely with our sister organisation in the USA. About You
This is a new role and you will be someone who is ambitious and can hit the ground running, with minimal support, proactively developing our Mid-Level donor income streams. You will have successfully worked in fundraising previously, most likely supporting Mid-Level donors, and have a track record of converting donors into committed supporters. You will have copy writing experience and know how to use story to engage donors and encourage them to give. You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills but you are also analytical and are able to track the success of what you are doing.
Role Outline
We want you to support our Mid-Level Donors and ensure that they are made to feel welcome and help show that their giving really does make a difference. You will oversee the welcome journey for all new donors and manage all communications with our existing donors. You will also develop and deliver fundraising activities which engage donors, deepening their relationship with us so we can build Mission India’s profile and increase income generation.
This role is based at home but may require travel to our office in Milton Keynes max 1 day a week
