LGBTQU+ Youth Support Worker

We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer (LGBTQ+) Youth Support Worker* to provide support for LGBTQ+ and unsure young people between the ages of 11-25.
This role will be based at the newly established Crawley YAC (Youth Advice Centre) located at Crawley Foyer, working in partnership with Crawley LGBTQU+ to develop the pilot project. The workload of the role will be split between supporting residents in the Foyer and the wider Crawley community. Both weekly youth group session will be delivered in the evenings on weekdays; the remaining delivery hours may be delivered flexibly.
The post holder will be responsible for planning and facilitating two weekly youth groups for 11-15 year-olds and for 16-25 year-olds. Through the youth groups, the post holder will support young people to access specialist support services including emotional health, sexual health, housing and LGBTQU+ support, following up with 1:1 support as required.
Applicants must be experienced in working with children and young people who identify as LGBTQU+, have an excellent knowledge of the challenges faced by LGBTQU+ children and young people and have a good knowledge of local services in Crawley. Applicants will ideally have at least a Level 2 Youth Work qualification or equivalent qualification relevant to the role.

We are recruiting to our Night Support Team to work in our supported housing project in Horsham.
You will work within our property that provides accommodation and associated support services to young people aged between (16 to 25 years old's). An understanding of the support needs of the young people we work with is desirable.
In particular you will help to keep our properties safe and secure throughout the night.
While there are systems in place to support you, we require somebody who is able to deal with unacceptable behaviour appropriately.

Are you looking for a challenging yet rewarding role that can make a huge difference to a vulnerable young person’s life?
We are seeking an experienced project worker to join our innovative, award winning WiSE team. This role will involve providing holistic and child centred support to children and young people ranging from 10 – 25 years old across Brighton & Hove.
The WiSE project supports children and young people experiencing, or at risk of sexual exploitation. This role is funded by The National Lottery Community and they will be joining an experienced and supportive team delivering services across Surrey and Sussex.
You will be based at the head office in Hove but will have opportunities to work from home. However, much of your time will be spent supporting children and young people within the community, which can involve significant time lone working.
We prefer to see experience in supporting children and young people who have experienced abuse or trauma. This role may suit someone with a charity, youth or social work background.
Core Role Responsibilities
- Provide intense support to a caseload of children and young people who have been identified as being at significant risk of, or victims of sexual exploitation, with the possibility of some cases being victims of criminal exploitation
- Creating and delivering holistic, child-centred support plans to keep them safe from harm and increase their understanding of sexual and criminal exploitation
- Provide expertise and advocate for children and young people within multi-disciplinary safeguarding meetings and work collaboratively with other professionals to support interventions which keep children and young people safe and disrupt the activity of perpetrators
- Offer support and guidance to other professionals, to develop their skills and knowledge when working with children at risk of exploitation
Key requirements
- Experience of case work with young people aged 10 to 25 years old and delivering holistic, child centred support
- Experience of working with vulnerable young people who have experienced abuse or trauma
- A Current driving licence and access to your own car is desirable
This is challenging, yet very rewarding work. Line management and case support will be provided by YMCA DownsLink Group. WiSE staff receive regular 1-to-1 clinical supervision and group Reflective Practice Supervision.

Housing Services Worker

West Sussex Transitional housing provides safe, secure accommodation for young people with an age range of 18-35, who have been, or are at risk of homelessness. We have a culture or being More Than A Room and offer a support package alongside the accommodation to actively encourage residents into education, training, employment or voluntary work.
We will work with residents to coach them in life and social skills, enabling them to move successfully into independent accommodation and for them to successfully sustain a tenancy.
Mainly these are shared three-bedroom houses, all with a lockable bedroom, sharing and taking responsibility for the communal areas. There are also self-contained units where the residents will be responsible for all their utilities and these properties allow us to offer the support and encouragement to sustain a tenancy.
The properties are agency managed on behalf of a landlord so as well as coaching and engaging young people you will be responsible for ensuring the properties are maintained and housing management.
Although based in Horsham the successful applicant will be expected to travel throughout properties in West Sussex.
