Job description

Background

Established by Kim Polman in 2018, Reboot the Future is a small foundation with a huge ambition, we want a more compassionate and sustainable future. Our inaugural book, Imaginal Cells: Visions of Transformation, was co-authored by three Nobel Prize winners and a selection of global leaders including Al Gore, Muhammad Yunus and Desmond Tutu.

The principle underpinning the foundation’s work is the Golden Rule (Treat others and the planet as you would wish to be treated) and we are dedicated to spreading this message through our education, leadership and social action programmes.

Now is an exciting time for the foundation as we are rapidly growing our work. We have recently relaunched our teacher platform Global Dimension which supports a community of 15,000 teachers to bring global issues into the classroom. In March, we will launch a new multi-media schools programme and campaign aimed at activating young people ahead of the UN Climate Conference in November 2021. We will also be continuing to grow our other outreach programmes including our Imaginal Conversations which connect participants to each other and to the Golden Rule.

We're now seeking a part-time intern (24 hours across the week / or 3 full days) to join our small team in London. It will be a three month internship, with potential to be extended beyond this initial period. We’re particularly interested in candidates with communications and social media skills, and an interest in the sustainability and global learning sectors.

The Role

This internship will offer a range of experience, working in a start-up environment, where you can play an instrumental role in shaping the future of the organisation.

We're seeking a highly enthusiastic and creative person, who has a genuine passion for social media and communications about sustainability, and who wants to help us build our community of teachers and leaders.

We're looking for somebody with excellent relationship and communications skills, who thrives on challenges and problem-solving, who has an active interest in global issues, and who is able to work confidently under their own initiative.

Specific duties will include:

Social media management

  • Running Reboot the Future and Global Dimension’s social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Creating engaging visual and written content for these social media channels (applicants with design skills will be valued)
  • Supporting the development of the social media strategy for our new multi-media campaign, launching in March
  • Building and engaging our communities through regular and creative interactions
  • Social media tracking to analyse campaign success and opportunities for growth

Global Dimension website content management

  • Writing blogs/news articles which are relevant and interesting for our teacher audience
  • Identifying and writing about topical news events for our ‘In Focus topics’ articles, and activating the discussion forums
  • Feeding into the monthly Global Dimension newsletters
  • Identifying new opportunities to build and grow our teacher audience
  • Identifying new educational content and resources to add to the site

Providing administrative support to the team

  • Support on (virtual) events including overseeing logistical arrangements, liaising with attendees and speakers

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will...

  • Have experience creating written and visual digital content for a variety of platforms including Twitter, Instagram and blogs
  • Have experience managing social media platforms and scheduling content using tools like Buffer
  • Be comfortable using free software such as Canva to create engaging content
  • Be enthusiastic, creative and willing to try new approaches and drive new ideas
  • Have excellent relationship and communications skills
  • Be highly organised
  • Thrive on challenges and problem-solving and be able to work confidently under their own initiative
  • Have a genuine interest in sustainability and a commitment to living by the Golden Rule

Set Up

The role will be home-based initially, due to the current lockdown. Depending on the lifting of coronavirus restrictions, you will have access to office space in central London, or can continue to work from home.

We would prefer a candidate who can spread 24 hours across the working week (eg. 4-5 hours a day) but will also consider 3 full days.

You will be managed by the Education & Programme Coordinator.

We are looking for a candidate who can start immediately.
