We are looking for a part-time Communications Manager to support MDP in the communication of our work through social media, press engagement, community storytelling, and organisational communications.

To build migrant power, we need strategic, sharp, engaging, and sometimes humorous content on migrant justice and democracy in the UK. We need to tell the stories of our communities and why the right to vote is essential to different audiences through different channels - online and in the press. This role is perfect for creatives who have skills in graphic design, video editing, and copywriting; and can support the team with creative brainstorming on the latest social media trends, meme formats, cultural references, and political opportunities for posting. You will also manage MDP’s newsletter and website.

TERMS AND BENEFITS

• Fixed term contract for 12 months (with the possibility of extension depending on future grants), £38,000 pro rata (equivalent to £30,400 per year), with a September or October 2026 start.

• 25 days of paid annual leave pro rata, plus bank holidays. In addition, the MDP office closes for two paid weeks over Christmas and New Year.

• Communications Strategy Development: Build and implement MDP’s Communications Strategy. Pay attention to breaking news and the activities of MDP staff and wider Champions to develop a communications strategy in-line with MDP’s organising strategy.
• Social Media Content Development: Develop social media content for MDP’s Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn accounts, including graphics, video scripts and captions, working with MDP spokespeople and champions.
• Press and Media Engagement: be the point of contact for all media activity, develop networks with journalists and pitch stories and MDP spokespersons.

The Communications Manager is the sole communications role at LEF and holds a central position within the organisation and for engagement with our partners. You will develop and implement a media and communications strategy, build our media profile, oversee digital channels, and act as guardian of our brand. This includes centring communities at the heart of campaigns, building our public profile with key audiences including journalists, developing our range of allies, reflecting our understanding of historical injustice in the food system, and fostering an experimentation and learning culture. This role will also oversee all website and social media channels, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure communications are built into campaigns from the outset to enhance reach and potential.

Role overview

To support and deliver the internal and external communications and campaigns with the goal of enhancing the SoA’s profile, engage stakeholders, and promote key initiatives. We're recruiting on behalf of a nationally recognised organisation for an enthusiastic Internal Communications Officer to join a busy and collaborative communications team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong writing skills, excellent attention to detail and a passion for creating engaging content that keeps colleagues informed, connected and inspired.

You'll play a key role in delivering internal communications across a variety of channels while working with stakeholders from across the organisation to support employee engagement and organisational priorities.

What you'll be doing

• Create engaging content for intranet pages, newsletters, staff updates and internal campaigns.
• Support senior leadership communications and organisation-wide announcements.
• Manage and maintain intranet content, ensuring information is accurate, relevant and up to date.
• Build strong relationships with teams across the organisation to gather stories and promote key initiatives.
• Support the delivery of staff events, briefings, workshops and engagement activities.
• Monitor internal communication channels and respond to enquiries professionally.
• Gather colleague feedback and help shape improvements to internal communications.

What we're looking for

• Experience in internal communications, employee engagement or a similar communications role.
• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
• Confidence creating engaging content for digital communication channels.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Experience building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
• A proactive, collaborative approach with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience using intranet or content management systems would be advantageous.
