Duties and Key relationships Marketing and Communications
This is a new role in the Marketing and Communications department and is responsible for the media relations of the Charity.
PR and Media Relations
• To develop relevant media contacts, as well as contacts in the sector, to maximise the reach and coverage of key communications campaigns as well as wider organisational projects.
• Produce creative copy written for a variety of audience groups which champions and shows best practice of our tone of voice

Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (GOSH Charity) is hiring for a Senior Communications and Stories Manager to join us for a 12 month maternity cover.
This is a pivotal role where you will lead the external communications and stories functions for one of the UK’s most recognised and loved brands. If you’re creative, ambitious with a proven track record of effective media relations, storytelling and issues management – then we want to hear from you.
Over the 12 month contract you will have a focus on brand and fundraising campaigns. You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate across fundraising and Marcomms and lead a highly respected team.
About You
We’re looking for an experienced communications professional to join us for this 12 month contract. We’re looking for:
- Previous experience working in a senior communications role.
- Experience managing high performing teams.
- Experience delivering proactive comms campaigns.
- Crisis management experience.
- Strong storytelling abilities.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills.
About the team
The Communications Team which is made up of Family Stories, External Communications, Internal Communications, Celebrity and Influencers and Social Media. This sits within a wider Marketing and Communications directorate.

Home-Start is a federated charity consisting of a central national office – Home-Start UK - and 178 geographically dispersed local Home-Start organisations, all working together under the same identity.

We work with parents to build on their strengths and give them the support that they tell us they need. We offer no judgement – just compassionate, confidential help and expert support. About The Role
This role will use all elements of digital communication to put supporters at the heart of our communications work. Reporting to the Head of Marketing, the role involves overseeing all aspects of digital communications including developing our website, overseeing email communications with supporters, and managing our social media platforms (including paid for social media advertising).
You will need experience in managing all digital channels for a charity or a similar organisation as well as an understanding of the needs of different audiences. But, most importantly, you will have a passion for creating and sharing engaging and relevant content across multiple channels. You will be keen to test new approaches and quickly learn what is working. You will also have a passion for amplifying the voices of the families we work with and a commitment to diversifying the stories we tell and ensuring that voices from minority or marginalised communities are heard.
You will combine the ability to manage the technical side of maintaining websites and social media accounts, with an understanding of the power of the right words and images to communicate our messages.
