The Operations Manager is a new leadership position that will play a pivotal role in the delivery of FFLAG’s operations which span online, offline, and local group support for parents and carers of LGBT+ loved ones. We also want you to bring experience of fundraising to help ensure we stay financially secure for the long term.
About FFLAG
FFLAG is a national voluntary organisation and registered charity and is the UK’s longest established parent support charity in the LGBT+ sector. Our history began in the grassroots parent helplines of the 1960s, grew through the 1980’s and 90’s as we supported anxious parents and fought against the discrimination of Section 28, becoming a formally registered charity in 2000.
Our work sounds simple, but it is life changing. We help parents and families understand, accept and support their LGBT+ family members with love and pride.
We offer a range of support options spanning 121 online and helpline support services, to a UK-wide monthly group Zoom meeting and face to face local groups. We also have an extensive collection of online resources and guides. We attend as many Pride events as we can and our work supports thousands of families every year. This support is provided by an active base of FFLAG volunteers who are parents of LGBT+ children themselves, supported by other volunteers and allies.
In addition to our support work, FFLAG advocates for the full human and civil rights of LGBT+ individuals. FFLAG speaks out and acts to defend and enhance those human and civil rights.
What this job is all about
Simply put, as Operations Manager you will ensure the charity's activities are effective, sustainable, and aligned with our mission to support families with LGBT+ members
Reporting directly to the Chair, working closely with the Board of Trustees and supported by a part-time Volunteer Engagement & Events Coordinator you will:
- Lead and supervise the daily operational functions, ensuring smooth and compliant delivery of services.
- Lead fundraising activities, including grant applications, donor stewardship, and partnership development.
- Manage and support staff and volunteers, nurturing a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture.
- Support the Trustees to ensure compliance with all relevant UK charity legislation and regulatory requirements (e.g., Charity Commission, safeguarding, risk management, data protection).
- Collaborate with the Chair and Board of Trustees to develop and implement strategic plans, with clear KPIs and measurable outcomes.
What else might you be involved in?
Because this is a new role we expect to learn together about what additional activities you can support us with beyond the key priorities mentioned above. This could include helping us to:
- Monitor and report on operational performance, identifying opportunities for innovation and growth.
- Oversee financial management including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, ensuring resources are used efficiently and transparently.
- Oversee communications and stakeholder engagement, including public relations, digital presence including website and social media, and community outreach.
- Act as an ambassador for FFLAG at events, forums, and in collaborative partnerships.
What are the skills and attributes you will need to be successful?
As the most senior employed position in the charity, we need an experienced operational leader that can grow with us. You will be self-motivated and enjoy working independently without the need for close supervision.
In terms of specific areas of skill or experience we are looking for people who can demonstrate previous experience of:
- Operational Leadership: Demonstrable experience in a senior operations role, ideally within the charity or voluntary sector.
- Fundraising: Experience supporting or leading fundraising campaigns and developing income streams.
- Governance: Knowledge of UK charity governance and regulatory compliance.
- People Management: Confident in leading, motivating, and developing a small team and volunteers.
- Commitment to Inclusion: Passionate about equality, diversity, and supporting the LGBT+ community and their families.
As an experienced leader we would also expect you to have:
- Financial Acumen: Proven ability to manage charity finances, budgets, and reporting processes.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to represent the organisation externally.
- Strategic Thinking: Able to translate vision into actionable plans and execute effectively.
- Problem Solving: Resourceful, adaptable, and solution-oriented approach to challenges.

The Head of Development and Communications plays a pivotal role in driving In2scienceUK’s mission to change lives by opening doors to STEM degrees and careers for young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
As a senior leader, you will shape and deliver a bold, integrated development and communications strategy that brings our mission to life, tells powerful stories of change, and inspires confidence and commitment from donors, partners, and key stakeholders that unlocks new opportunities for innovation and expansion.
In this role, you will manage a small, high-performing team and oversee the creation of compelling narratives and effective engagement strategies that inspire donors, partners, alumni, and key stakeholders, supporting a resilient and diversified income portfolio.
Working closely with programme teams, you will ensure that development and communications activity amplifies the impact of existing programmes, while identifying and developing new opportunities that deliver meaningful outcomes for young people across the UK.
You will drive the development of strategic partnerships and funding relationships to expand the reach and influence of In2science’s work. Combining strategic vision with operational expertise, you will take a proactive, entrepreneurial approach to growth, shaping how the organisation connects with its audiences, builds its reputation, and communicates the impact of its work in support of long-term strategic goals.
The position allocates approxiamtely 80% of time to development and fundraisng activities and 20% to oversight of the organisations communications function.

Responsibilities
Development
Approxaimately 80% of the role will be dedicated to development and fundraising activities.

To collaborate with the senior leadership team and trustees in setting organisational strategy and building strategic partnerships to support In2science’s vision for 2026 and beyond.

Lead on planning, implementation and delivery of segmented fundraising and stewardship campaigns across programmes and audiences with a 2026 income target of £1.5m.

Lead and manage a diverse fundraising portfolio, including corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, research grants (e.g., UKRI), government funding, and individual giving.

To lead a small but effective development team, including an external fundraising contractor to build upon our success to date to achieve funding targets and foster strategic relationships with funding and delivery partners.

Budget and resource all aspects of development and communications, including engaging with external contractors to maximise our output and upskill our teams.

Work closely with the Head of Operations to oversee our CRM, ensuring accurate pipeline reporting and forecasting, as well as utilising the system for tailored stewardship opportunities.

Approximately 20% of your role will be committed to oversight of our communication function.

Oversee the organisation’s external communications, ensuring all messaging is on-brand, reflects our values, meets high standards, and effectively tells the story of our impact on young people.

Manage the Senior Communications Officer to deliver campaigns that drive organisational growth and engagement with donors, partners, volunteers, and beneficiaries.
Governance

To work with the SMT, CEO, and Trustees to ensure strong charity governance, including leading the Growth Subcommittee and preparing reports for quarterly board meetings.

Identify organisation-wide opportunities to streamline and improve performance across the organisation.

Working with SMT and trustees to ensure charity compliance. Including the charity commission, funding regulator, ICO.

Identify and manage organisational/operational risk and ensure that all measures are in place to mitigate this.

Person Specification
Essential:

Three years experience of leading a development team to generate a seven-figure annual income from a diverse range of donors, ideally in a charitable organisation.

This role is key to Alzheimer’s Society’s ambitions to drive major policy change across England, Northern Ireland and Wales. About Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance
Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) exists so nobody in Scotland suffers or dies because medical help cannot get there in time. People can get sick or have accidents anywhere and anytime. But in Scotland there are places where urgent medical help cannot reach people. Or help gets there too late. And when lives are at risk every minute matters. As a charity we rely on donations from the Scottish public, companies and communities to ensure that urgent medical help gets to the patient when it is needed, wherever they are and at whatever time of day.
The Role
As part of our strategy for growth and national impact, SCAA is seeking a motivated individual to manage our newly formed Data function, as Data and Insights Manager. This is a hands-on managerial role, which will contribute to both the immediate data management requirements and lead on the development of the longer-term Data and Insights Strategy for SCAA.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in embedding a culture of data-driven decision making, using insights and analysis to support future growth, with a particular focus on fundraising, marketing and supporter engagement. They will ensure the right frameworks and infrastructure are in place to allow for effective data management and data-driven decision-making across the charity.
This role can be fully remote, with the option to work from Perth Airport, where SCAA headquarters are located or our Aberdeen base at Aberdeen Airport, if preferred. Occasional travel to our Perth base will be required for the successful candidate. SCAA supports flexible and hybrid working arrangements—our current approach typically includes two office days per week for those working on a hybrid basis. The usual hours and days of work will be Monday to Friday, 9am—5pm.
About You
Essential
- Significant experience leading data strategy, governance or CRM development in a fundraising, marketing or customer insight environment.
- Strong knowledge of data protection and GDPR compliance, with understanding of DPO responsibilities.
- Demonstrable experience in designing and interpreting data analysis and insights to inform strategic decisions.
- Experience overseeing CRM systems from a strategic perspective, including planning for improvements or new systems.
- Working knowledge of Power BI or other data visualisation tools from a user or strategic oversight perspective.
- Excellent leadership and line management skills, with experience developing staff and building data capability within the wider team.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders with complex data insights.
- Project management skills.
Desirable
- Experience within the charity sector, especially in fundraising or supporter engagement.
- Experience working with finance teams on reconciliation and Gift Aid processes.
- Qualification in data protection, data analysis, or a related discipline.

Reporting to: Events and Communities Manager
Key Tasks
Volunteer Engagement and Support
· Develop and grow the engagement in branches & SIGs and support volunteers to build new groups and networks.
· Build strong relationships with each branch and SIG community, providing administration support for their meetings and activities.
· With support, develop and deliver our annual in-person Volunteer Awards and annual in-person Volunteer Forum event.
· Work with the Communities and Events Manager to develop and deliver branch events and SIG conferences.
· Engage our volunteers with regular virtual ‘keep in touch’ meetings and other activities designed to maximise their satisfaction in their volunteer role – and share best practice across the networks.
· Create regular communications to engage and update our volunteers.
Community Development
· Support our communities with the development of their annual budgets and help them develop ideas for new, year-round activities to maximise member engagement and volunteer satisfaction.
· Identify opportunities for new communities and initiatives designed to broaden and grow our membership.
Operational Support
· Ensure our CRM is kept up to date with current volunteer details for each community.
· Work with each community to ensure their Terms of Reference are current and support their AGMs as required.
· Create volunteer resources, including a handbook to support and guide our volunteers to fulfil their roles successfully.
· Work with the Marketing and Communications Manager ensure communities have the digital branding and branded merchandise required, and access to their community email and community SharePoint areas.
