We are looking for a proactive self-starter to sit within a high-performing team working to raise awareness of SSAFA’s support in the South West Region of England to those in the Armed Forces Community who need it most.
With the ultimate objective being to grow SSAFA’s presence, profile, and identity, the role is responsible for all marcomms activation in the region. The role holder will work to deliver the central Fundraising, Marketing & Communications strategy.
This role reports to the Head of Communications with close alignment with colleagues across the marcomms directorate. The marcomms manager will be responsible for managing marketing campaigns in the South West Region of England and promoting SSAFA’s fundraising initiatives and services. You’ll identify the areas of greatest impact and cut through, deliver integrated awareness campaigns and secure media coverage of fundraising events. Crucially, you’ll be able to identify stories which resonate with our target audience and write calls to action.
With a heavy focus on media and PR activity, key to the role is building strong relationships and contacts with relevant stakeholders in your region including media representatives, employees, volunteers, and case study beneficiaries.
About the team
The Communications team is a small but dynamic group of individuals with strong skillsets across Public Relations, Storytelling (case studies) and Internal Communications. The team is a mix of ex-forces and civilians, and they are always sharing knowledge and expertise with each other.
You will work closely across all directorates within SSAFA, with a focus in South West, to garner information and create compelling marcomms campaigns and activities to raise awareness of SSAFA’s work.

You will be a highly motivated and creative communicator with a proven track record of delivering impactful PR and marketing campaigns. As a natural storyteller with strong media instincts, you will excel at securing high-profile coverage and elevating our brand presence. You will be a confident relationship builder, skilled at engaging stakeholders across the region, from media contacts to volunteers and case study beneficiaries. You will also be able to work independently while staying closely aligned with teams across fundraising and communications, demonstrating proactivity and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

Job purpose
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive, you will lead GHP’s external affairs and communications function across the full range of the organisation’s strategic priorities. This includes designing and executing GHP’s advocacy strategy for priority programmes — with the Every Mother, Everywhere MCH programme as the flagship — while also building GHP’s broader profile as the leading UK voice on NHS institutional partnerships, health workforce policy, and the mutual benefit case for UK investment in global health. You will manage GHP’s relationships with key stakeholders in parliament, government, and the media, and ensure that GHP’s full portfolio of work is visible, compelling, and connected to the policy arguments that matter most to funders and decision-makers.
You will oversee GHP’s secretariat relationship with the APPG on Global Health and Security, develop and support networks of health worker and diaspora advocates, lead media and parliamentary engagement, and coordinate a coalition of civil society, clinical, and community organisations around shared advocacy priorities. With the communications team, you will also work closely with the fundraising and programmes teams to ensure GHP’s communications and public profile actively support income diversification and donor engagement across institutional, trust, and corporate funding streams.
While the immediate priority is our Maternal and Child Health Advocacy programme and its parliamentary and media objectives, this role carries wider organisational responsibility for GHP’s positioning, reputation, and voice in public discourse on global health. Main purpose:
Reporting to the CEO and working with a small, dedicated head office team, the post-holder is responsible for the full finance function of the Charity and its Trading Subsidiary, NAFAS Enterprises Limited (currently dormant), using Xero financial package.

Key Responsibilities:
· Maintain accounts for the Charity and it’s subsidiary company.
· Manage outsourced payroll provider and Arrange payment of staff salaries, PAYE, NI and pension contributions.
· Process and Make payments for all staff and volunteer expenses.
· Ensure all expenditure payments are made on time.
· Maintain Direct Debits subscriptions.
· Responsible for annual affiliation fee income and master sheet reconciliation
· Raise quarterly invoices for advertising in the Flower Arranger magazine
· Process website stock orders and raise other ad hoc stock order invoices
· Process charity event receipts and expenditure and reconcile against master spreadsheet
· Responsible for supplier invoice processing and payments
· Responsible for banking of cheques and bank reconciliations.
· Responsible for VAT returns for both companies.
· Preparation of management accounts for the CEO, Finance Committee and the Board ona scheduled agreed with the CEO
· Maintenance of restricted funds documentation, ensuring proper cost allocations and record keeping.
· Maintenance of P&L and Balance Sheets reconciliations.
· Prepare budgets and forecasts and assist CEO with variance analysis.
· Manage rolling 12-month cashflow forecasts.
· Manage the annual audit process.
· Provide information and advice to the CEO and the Board of Trustees.
· Keep up to date with compliance, legislation and regulation and to work within the organisation’s policies and procedures.
· To maintain the Charity’s supporter database ensuring accurate records of income and contact details is kept up to date.
· To act as Secretary to the Finance & Investment Committee and Risk & Audit Committee of the Board

Personal Specification
- Have significant demonstrable experience in finance and operations within the charity sector, in a similar role
· Be part or fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc) or equivalent
· Have a proven track record in budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management, and financial modelling
· Have experience of working within a small central team
· Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
· Have experience of managing compliance areas such as data protection, cyber security, insurance and risk (Desirable)

The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and creative Communications and Brand Manager (Partnerships) to join a small, friendly and ambitious team in a varied role with genuine opportunity for development and impact. The Communications and Brand Manager (Partnerships) is primarily fundraising focused, delivering compelling communications strategies to support individual giving, fundraising events and our growing number of Corporate Partnerships, including Sky, Co-op, National Grid, OVO, Cadent, UKPN, Barratt Redrow and SGN. The role will specialise in maximising brand impact and income-raising potential.
The role sits within the growing Communications Team, which is led by the Director of Communications and includes the Communications Manager and Communications Assistant.
Reporting to the Director of Communications, the postholder will play a key role in telling the Warm Welcome Story for positive change, raising awareness to grow the brand and creating campaign strategies to support income generation.
