About the Role

This is an exciting new opportunity in the Strategic Communications Team at the Foundation.
You’ll play a key role setting up and organising a varied programme of visits, to engage more people in our mission and ultimately help more people in England and Wales to say “I’m in a good place,” “My home is a good place to live,” and “My community is a good place to belong”.
Bringing strong organisational, relationship-building abilities and creativity, you’ll arrange visits for senior stakeholders – MPs, philanthropists, trustees, partners, and executives from Lloyds Banking Group, to community-led groups we’re funding and local areas driving systems change.
Through thoughtful engagement, you'll build lasting relationships and raise awareness of social issues, to ensure visits generate meaningful impact.
You will support colleagues and partners to maximise opportunities, follow up actions, and effectively generate and use content, stories, videos and images to tell powerful stories.
Importantly, you’ll ensure community-led organisations experience these visits as supportive and beneficial, and that their voices are centred in all that occurs and follows, aligning with our mission to foster community-led change.
About You
You are highly organised, with experience coordinating events, or visits involving
multiple stakeholders.
Alongside strong communication skills, with an understanding of how to apply
organisational narratives to local activity, you’ll have the ability to balance competing priorities.
You will bring experience partnering across teams and directorates along with excellent
relational skills to build trust and rapport with internal and external stakeholders.

The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is an independent charitable foundation established in Portugal in 1956. It is one of the largest European foundations, with headquarters in Lisbon and offices in London (the UK Branch) and Paris. The Foundation's mission is to promote the development of individuals and organisations, through art, science, education, and charity, for a more equitable and sustainable society.
The Communications and Programmes Officer will work with colleagues to support the delivery of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation UK Branch's strategy. This post will help deliver the UK Branch's communications activity and support the UK programme's grant-making and projects.
The UK Branch aims to strengthen arts and civil society ecosystems and emphasises transnational collaboration between Portugal (where the Foundation is headquartered) and the UK. Our grantmaking programme has three focus areas: arts opportunities, NGO capacity-building and climate-health. We fund and support partner organisations working in these areas and directly deliver projects in-line with our programme goals. The UK Branch also collaborates on flagship international initiatives of the Foundation, including the Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity and the Alliance for Socially Engaged Arts.

About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic, multi-disciplinary team at the Centre of expertise on child sexual abuse (CSA Centre), as we work to improve understanding of child sexual abuse and help make children safer.
As we approach our 10th anniversary year, we are looking for a talented and proactive Senior Digital Communications Officer to help us grow our online reach and influence our main audiences. You will be an experienced digital communicator who understands how to maximise the potential of digital channels to inform, educate and inspire others to take action.
As part of our brilliant Communications and Policy team, you'll help deliver both our communications and digital strategies, ensuring that the CSA Centre continues to provide high-quality, accessible and user-focused digital content as we drive greater awareness of our sector-leading research, practice tools, and digital support hubs for victims and survivors, among multi-agency professionals, the voluntary sector, and wider support services. You'll be our champion for digital-first communications, helping colleagues embrace new approaches, improve collaboration, and maximise the impact of their work.
You'll play a pivotal role in the ongoing development and improvement of our digital presence, working closely with external web contractors and internal colleagues to enhance user experience, accessibility and search performance. From managing website content to identifying opportunities for innovation, you'll ensure our digital channels and outputs reflect the quality of the CSA Centre's work.
We're looking for someone who can:
- Lead and champion digital-first communications, helping colleagues make the most of digital channels and opportunities.
- Manage and improve website content, governance and user experience, ensuring accessibility and quality standards are embedded throughout.
- Use SEO, analytics and audience insight to drive continuous improvement and demonstrate impact.
- Build effective relationships with stakeholders, contractors and colleagues, confidently advising, influencing and challenging where appropriate.
- Create engaging digital content and assets across websites, social media, email newsletters and other online platforms.
- Support the implementation of digital systems and tools, including SharePoint and OneDrive, to improve collaboration and information management.
- Balance competing priorities while maintaining high standards and delivering excellent results.
To succeed in this role, you'll bring digital communications experience, strong knowledge of content management systems such as WordPress or Drupal, and a good understanding of accessibility, user-centred content design and digital publishing best practice. You'll be equally comfortable working independently and collaboratively, using your judgement, creativity and expertise to help deliver meaningful outcomes.

CSA Centre roles are currently funded until 31 March 2027, in line with our current grant funding arrangements. This will be reviewed in late 2026, as future funding for the CSA Centre from 2027/28 onwards is confirmed.

A key opportunity will be the development of Digital Commonwealth Day — a digital programme designed to complement the RCS’s annual Commonwealth Day Celebration at Westminster Abbey and extend its reach globally. Through creative content, video, social media and digital storytelling, it will help amplify the work of the RCS and showcase the achievements and diversity of the Commonwealth.
The successful candidate will play a central role in bringing this vision to life, while helping to strengthen the RCS’s wider digital presence and communications.
Role Summary
The Digital Communications and Public Affairs Officer will lead the day-to-day delivery of the RCS’s communications and digital content, alongside supporting public affairs and stakeholder engagement.
This is a creative, hands-on role for someone who enjoys creating content, telling stories and finding innovative ways to engage audiences. The postholder will manage the RCS website and social media channels, produce written, visual and video content, support flagship campaigns and events, and help develop new digital initiatives.
Key programmes include the RCS Celebration at Westminster Abbey, Digital Commonwealth Day, The Queen’s Commonwealth Writing Competition, the Commonwealth Youth Photography Competition and the RCS’s 160th anniversary programme in 2028.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Communications, Digital & Content
- Develop and deliver engaging communications and digital content across the RCS website, social media, email and other platforms.
- Manage and maintain the RCS website, including news, blogs, events and campaign content.
- Create, schedule and manage content across X, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
- Create and edit engaging short-form video, photography, graphics and other visual content for digital campaigns and social media.
- Develop creative campaigns and content around key RCS programmes, events and Commonwealth moments.
- Produce the monthly RCS newsletter, including writing, sourcing content and managing mailing lists.
- Use Canva and other digital tools to create high-quality communications materials.
- Capture and repurpose content from RCS events, including interviews, photography, video and social media content.
- Develop stories that highlight the work of the RCS, its partners and young people across the Commonwealth.
- Monitor digital and social media performance and use insights to improve engagement.
- Identify new digital platforms, trends and opportunities to expand the RCS’s reach.
Commonwealth Day & Digital Commonwealth Day
- Lead communications and digital content supporting the annual Commonwealth Day Celebration at Westminster Abbey.
- Help develop and deliver Digital Commonwealth Day, creating an engaging online programme that complements the Westminster Abbey service and enables audiences around the Commonwealth and beyond to participate digitally.
- Develop pre-, during- and post-event content, including video, interviews, photography, graphics and social media.
- Work with Commonwealth partners, youth networks and other stakeholders to develop and amplify digital contributions and stories.
160th Anniversary – 2028
- Support the development and delivery of communications for the RCS’s 160th anniversary in 2028.

Events & Public Affairs
- Support communications and logistics for key RCS events and campaigns, including The Queen’s Commonwealth Writing Competition, Commonwealth Youth Photography Competition and High Commissioners’ Banquet.
- Assist with public affairs events, stakeholder engagement, briefings, speeches and correspondence.
- Build relationships with Commonwealth stakeholders, youth networks, partners and external organisations.

Founded in 2015, our client is an impactful charity that helps care-experienced young people to make a successful transition from the care system into their first homes, build solid foundations and thrive.
Working in partnership with local authorities, housing providers and other charities, they provide tailored, one to one coaching for young people, giving them the skills and confidence to sustain their tenancies, manage their finances and live independently. This is an exciting new role for the charity, working across the organisation to make sure external engagement and communications are aligned with the charity's strategy and contribute to their goals. As Senior External Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the charity's external engagement, communications and marketing strategy. You will lead campaigning and influencing work, ensuring that young people’s voices and priorities are at the forefront.
You will be responsible for key communications moments, such as the charity's Annual Report and fundraising campaigns, and represent the charity externally to stakeholders and the medial. You will also oversee the Senior Comms Officer, and day-to-day digital and social media comms.
To excel in this role, you will bring a proven ability to develop and deliver communications or engagement strategies that support wider organisational goals. You will have experience of delivering and overseeing consistent, high-quality communications across multiple channels. Purpose of the role
Transforming the Thames is an ambitious, partnership-led programme working towards a vision of a restored, reconnected and resilient Thames Estuary, a thriving coastal wetland where communities and wildlife can flourish.
Led by ZSL and delivered through a diverse partnership of industry, government, environmental organisations, local nature partnerships and landowners, the programme is bringing people and organisations together to reconnect the fragmented and damaged seascape of the Greater Thames Estuary. Through the protection, repair and restoration of coastal habitats, the programme is delivering an initial 320ha of habitat restoration by 2030, with ambitions to scale up this work over the long term.
This role will play an important part in bringing the vision for Transforming the Thames to life, coordinating communications across the programme and working with the ZSL project team and partners to deliver clear, consistent and engaging messaging. Working closely with ZSL’s central PR team, the role will support content, media activity and key campaign moments, drawing on ZSL’s brand, partner resources and creative content to share the programme’s story with a wide range of audiences.
With the project now underway, this is an exciting opportunity to raise awareness of Transforming the Thames, engage communities across the Greater Thames Estuary and showcase how collaboration can help nature recover.
This role is offered on a 12-month part-time fixed-term contract, working 22.5 or 30 hours per week depending on your preference.

This is a hybrid role, predominantly field and home-based, with an expectation to attend ZSL’s Regent’s Park office at least once every two weeks with regular travel to fieldwork locations across London, Kent and Essex. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required with advance notice.
Key responsibilities:
- Content Creation & Digital Communications: Lead content production and management for Transforming the Thames’ social media channels and create engaging content for wider ZSL channels. Produce and commission high-quality written, photographic and video content, including milestone stories, website updates, press releases, newsletters and community stories.
- Communications Planning & Campaign Management: Manage the project communications calendar, campaigns and milestone storytelling, identifying opportunities to share the project’s progress and impact with a range of audiences.
- Strategic Communications: Work with the Senior Partnerships Manager to deliver and regularly update the project communications strategy, ensuring communications support the project’s wider aims and ambitions.
- Partner Communications & Collaboration: Lead the quarterly Partner Communications Forum and coordinate communications across a large partnership, supporting shared messaging, brand consistency, content planning and amplification across partner channels.
- Major Events & Media Coordination: Coordinate communications around key project moments, including restoration activities, conferences and other major events, working closely with ZSL’s central PR and communications teams.
About You
- Proven experience in communications or media (environment, science, or public engagement ideal), with experience delivering communications campaigns and content to deadlines.
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to create engaging content for a range of audiences and channels.
- Experience planning and producing social media content, including short-form video, photography and video content.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and diplomatically across teams and partner organisations.
- Ability to coordinate communications across a partnership (including liaising with multiple comms teams) and manage complex messaging.
- A full driving licence and ability to travel to project sites across London, Kent and Essex, with occasional evening and weekend working.
