We are a small team, looking for a second Fundraising Officer to work alongside our existing Fundraising Officer to deliver activity across all our income streams, supported by a Fundraising Board. Open Seas is a small environmental charity working in Scotland and beyond to promote environmental recovery in our seas and champion sustainable seafood. Established in 2016, we conduct environmental and policy research to inform consumers, markets and decision-makers as well as generate campaigns to drive positive change for the environmental health of Scotland’s seas.

The Role

BASIC is seeking a Digital Communications Officer with exceptional design sensibility and meticulous attention to detail. This role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organisation's digital presence through clear, consistent, and effective communication with key audiences. The Digital Communications Officer will support the implementation of strategic communication objectives, promote organisational priorities, and uphold the integrity and professionalism of BASIC's online profile.

Reporting to the Communications Manager and working closely with BASIC's programme teams, the postholder will develop, deliver, and analyse the impact of digital content across our online platforms — including BASIC's website and microsites, social media channels (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, BlueSky), and email communications.

The ideal candidate will be a fluent English speaker with strong copy-editing and proofreading skills. Job Purpose

Within the National Influencing & Networks team, the Digital Communications Officer is responsible for delivering core communications functions. The postholder will work directly with the Director of National Influencing and Networks to plan communications activity in line with organisational objectives, and to deliver planned, regular and ad-hoc outputs. They will also work closely with the Area Engagement and Partnerships Team. It is desirable for the postholder to bring innovative video editing and production expertise, along with strong digital content creation skills, to enhance Clinks’ communications reach and impact.

Duties and key responsibilities

· Contribute to the continued development of communications outputs of relevance to the voluntary sector working in criminal justice

· Deliver Clinks’ communications functions to ensure our work and the voluntary sector is promoted in an accurate and timely manner.

The Migraine Trust is the only UK migraine charity providing information and support, campaigning for awareness and change, and funding and promoting research.

One in seven people in the UK live with migraine, and this complex and debilitating neurological disorder significantly affects their lives. We have been leading and bringing the migraine community together to change this since 1965.

Every year we support millions of people through our website and support services on all aspects of migraine and for help in managing it at work, in education, and in accessing healthcare. We campaign for increased awareness and understanding of migraine, and national policy change to improve the lives of people who get it. You’ll work closely with the CEO and be a key member of The Migraine Trust’s Senior Management team, leading our strategic direction on communications activity alongside targeted public and political campaigns.

This role is an important one to help us build brand and awareness around our mission and goals  - in simple terms, helping more families to get away and ensuring that every family has the chance to go on holiday.

At its heart, this role is about storytelling and our ability to tell stories that capture hearts and minds. Taking ownership of the full story capture and storytelling process, you'll use this output to help build our brand, fundraise and tell our advocacy story. What's new for us in this role is PR - it's just not something we've done before, so you'll build relationships, networks and opportunities with earned media. You'll work with talented fundraisers, partnership builders and operational delivery colleagues to ensure we're sharing a cohesive and coherent message that supports all our audience goals and targets. And you'll get to work with a talented Comms Officer who delivers on our social, email and web activities. 

This role is key to helping us make sure we're doing our best for families and putting our best foot forward every time. 

It's a varied and fast-paced role (Comms roles are, right!?) that means you'll be involved in planning, creating and managing activities, so you'll need to have some awesome planning skills and be good with interpersonal relationships.

We're a small but flexible team - just like our approach to work. This is a hybird role, and you'll need to come into the office periodically (but none of that performative days a week nonsense!).

As a core member of a small, collaborative team, you will create and deliver high-quality communications across multiple channels. Your work will include managing media relations, overseeing day-to-day digital communications and social media, updating and optimising website content, producing marketing and campaign materials, managing communications projects, and supporting events.

We are looking for someone with experience in a broad communications role, including press office expertise, who thrives in a dynamic environment and brings a proactive, learning mindset. The Role

BASIC is seeking an experienced and strategic Communications Manager to lead and implement effective communication strategies that amplify our mission, enhance our brand identity, and strengthen engagement with key audiences. The ideal candidate will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, a proactive approach to storytelling, and the ability to collaborate across the organisation to ensure clear, consistent, and impactful messaging.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Manager will play a central role in shaping BASIC’s external presence, working across programmes to craft compelling narratives for social media, the website, and other digital platforms, as well as press contacts.

The Communications Manager will be the point of contact for all communication activity and will be responsible for setting the strategy and communicating this to the team. As an organisation, BASIC is keen to develop brand identity, particularly amongst our programmes and the Communications Manager will be instrumental in developing this work. 

Key Responsibilities

Organisational Communications & Strategy

• Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with BASIC’s mission and objectives including a strong link to impact.

• Lead the evolution of our social media strategy, ensuring increased engagement and impact.

• Develop and implement strategic online communication plans to enhance BASIC’s digital presence, ensuring consistent and engaging messaging across all platforms.

• Oversee BASIC’s branding and identity development, ensuring consistency across programmes and platforms. This includes: organisational brand asset, image, review and refresh.

• Act as BASIC’s press officer, managing media engagement, journalistic contacts, and public relations.

• Plan and execute BASIC’s website redevelopment strategy, including better functionality for fundraising efforts and overseeing all aspects of website content/management.

• Draft, edit, and manage organisational newsletters using MailChimp/MailerLite, ensuring clear, engaging, and audience-focused content that aligns with BASIC’s communications strategy.

• Provide communications training to staff, fostering a culture of shared responsibility for communications.

• Create promotional materials to advance BASIC’s initiatives.

• Strengthen BASIC’s internal and external communications, ensuring alignment with key stakeholders.

Programme Responsibilities

• Develop and execute tailored communications plans for specific programmes, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and effective audience engagement.

• Collaborate with programme teams to create and distribute engaging content that highlights programme achievements and key messages

• Work with programme teams to define the strategy, vision and purpose of newsletters

• Coordinate programme events (virtual and in-person), in terms of communications outreach to increase visibility and structuring of success stories

• Support the creation of digital content (social media posts, website updates, videos, etc.) to promote programme activities and initiatives

• Assist with publishing programme reports including proofing and providing guidance for branding and imagery 

• Provide communications support for programme fundraising activities

• Monitor and analyse communications impact across programmes, using feedback and data to suggest improvements and ensure messaging is reaching the right audiences

• Help to manage relationships with key stakeholders for each programme by ensuring ongoing engagement and support for programme objectives

Person Specification:

Essential:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Marketing, Education, Business, Fundraising)
• 8+ years of working in a communications role
• Knowledge of global security or related issues with linkage to UK policy
• Proven experience in developing and implementing communication strategies aligned with organisational goals and objectives
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling messages
• Ability to generate innovative ideas and content that engage target audiences and enhance brand visibility
• Strong networking and stakeholder engagement skills

In this role, you will:

· Lead our social media channels – including Instagram, TikTok, X and LinkedIn – planning content, posting regularly and driving engagement.

· Create multimedia content – from short-form videos and Reels to graphics and photography – that brings our services, events and campaigns to life.

· Work with student content creators – briefing and supporting them to produce fun, relevant and inclusive content that reflects student voices.

· Support key campaigns and events – such as Freshers, elections, liberation campaigns and major SU events, making sure they are highly visible and well-promoted.

· Produce videos and digital stories – planning, scripting, filming and editing content for social media, presentations and marketing activity.

· Design digital and print materials – from posters and screens to social assets and email graphics, ensuring everything aligns with our brand.

· Create engaging copy – writing emails, newsletters, web content and posts tailored to different student audiences.

· Use insight and analytics – tracking performance through Google Analytics, CMS data and social media tools, and using this to improve what we do next.

You’ll be part of a supportive Communications Team, working closely with colleagues across the organisation to help us reach under-represented groups, champion student voice and increase participation in all that UWLSU offers.

Cosmic is a small but mighty children’s charity, dedicated to supporting the incredible work of the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, and Queen Charlotte’s Hospital, Hammersmith. We provide vital funding for life-saving equipment, specialist staff training, pioneering research, and family support services - helping to make a real difference for children and families when they need it most.

We’re looking for a passionate and creative Marketing and Communications Manager to help us tell Cosmic’s story, engage our incredible supporters, and grow our reach and impact. Key Responsibilities

External Communications

• Collaborate with the team to develop a communications plan to support Cosmic’s calendar of events, income generation and volunteering, taking ownership of its implementation.
• Manage supporter communications through platforms like Mailchimp, including scheduling updates and mail merges.
• Produce and manage the production and distribution of the charity’s supporter newsletter, corporate newsletter, and other direct marketing materials.
• Develop a GDPR compliant method to gather data from families who benefit from Cosmic Service Delivery, to support conversion to fundraising via a Cosmic communication plan and supporter journey
• Create and execute engaging campaigns for Cosmic, based on our service delivery, to generate income.
• Liaise with celebrity partners to coordinate media campaigns.
• Develop and maintain a bank of photographs and ensure media consent forms are obtained and recorded appropriately.
• Assist fundraising teams in sourcing free advertising opportunities for events, such as community group emails and online platforms.
• Working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver and maximise media opportunities and campaigns that help raise awareness of the Cosmic’s services
• Writing press releases for local, regional and national press covering Cosmic service delivery, events and fundraising campaigns.

Internal Communications

• Work closely with supporters, NHS staff, and the NHS Imperial Trust to gather compelling patient, family, unit, and staff stories for promotional purposes.

• Keep charity notice boards updated with promotional material.
• Contribute to the quarterly Trustee report.
• Ensure that all communication is clearly logged on the Cosmic CRM solution, Donorfy.

Digital

• Manage Cosmic’s social media channels, developing and implementing a consistent and engaging social media plan to promote the charity’s work, events, and fundraising initiatives effectively.
• Digital transformation of the Cosmic website and other digital channels with a consistent and clear brand, ensuring optimal user experience.
• Create engaging and consistent digital designs for all marketing materials on Canva.

Branding and Merchandising

• Design and create a new range of fundraising merchandise and marketing materials to promote the Cosmic brand.
• Support the fundraising team by developing high-quality materials for proposals, events, and activities, and assist in promoting these initiatives.
• Develop and formalise a clear Cosmic Tone of Voice and charity branding, establishing guidelines for how Cosmic presents itself both internally and externally to ensure consistency and alignment with its mission and values.
• Build a Cosmic library of “curated content” with aligned descriptions of who we are and what we do, tailored for different audiences.
• Ensure all internal templates (letterheads, email signatures etc) use the correct colour palette, format and logo.

Administration

• Build a process to balance and prioritise the requirements and request for digital, marketing and communication support from the Cosmic Team
• Respond effectively to incoming telephone calls and emails, ensuring all inquiries are handled professionally.
• Maintain and update the charity’s database of contacts and supporters, taking the lead in implementing changes to improve data recording and analysis.
• Provide support to charity volunteers during activities.
• Develop engaging and relevant supporter journeys using Cosmic audience personas.
• Regular development and gathering of Cosmic case study materials.
• Evaluate the success of campaigns, setting and tracking key metrics, feeding learnings back into future work in a cycle of continuous improvement.
