This critical role will provide leadership on financial oversight, planning, and compliance for a flagship global education programme operating across multiple countries.

About the role

As Finance Manager, you will lead the financial management and oversight of the  programme, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial accounting, reporting, and oversight. You will work closely with the Programme Finance Manager, providing expert support across donor reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and cost recovery processes.

You will be responsible for producing financial reports for both internal and external stakeholders, including the Finance Committee, the programme management team, and global partners. A key part of the role will involve reviewing transactions, maintaining budget trackers, and ensuring alignment between donor reporting and internal financial data.

In addition, you will play a pivotal role in developing financial controls, monitoring compliance with donor regulations, and supporting audit processes. You will work with colleagues and partners to ensure all financial elements of grants, sub-grants, and donor contracts are managed effectively and transparently.

This position also involves line management of the Finance Officer, providing direction, oversight, and support to ensure a collaborative, high-performing finance function.

About you

• Fully qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent)
• At least 5 years’ experience in financial accounting and reporting
• Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Experience working within international development organisations or donor agencies
• Familiarity with institutional donors (e.g., FCDO, EC, ECHO) and their compliance requirements
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently across global teams and external partners

Based in Lewisham in South-East London, Sydenham Garden is a unique wellbeing centre utilising its gardens, nature reserve and activity rooms to help people living with and recovering from mental and physical ill-health. We provide nature and arts based creative, social and therapeutic activities for co-workers (the name we give to our primary beneficiaries).

About the role 

Our Director has been in post since November 2021 and on returning from maternity leave in January 2026 she will be working 3 days a week.  We are seeking a Co-Director to jointly lead the organisation going forwards as we have made a positive decision to move towards a co-director model.  This is an exciting opportunity which can have benefits of increasing capacity, efficiency, and transparency and allow for a broader range of identities both to better reflect the diverse populations they serve and as a way to include more diverse leaders. It is a model that can also reduce burnout, build equity, and support flexible working.

As Co-Director you will be jointly responsible for leading and manage the day-to-day running of Sydenham Garden for the benefit of our co-workers.  This will involve overseeing implementation and regular review of Sydenham Garden’s strategic plan and to ensure all governance arrangements are in place to monitor the work of the organisation and to report to the Board of Trustees and to funders.

About the Role

The focus of this permanent role is to manage the development and growth of the Strategic Programmes, in line with the organisations new strategy and core mission to end youth homelessness. As a charitable trust the core purpose includes distributing grants to create sustainable routes out of homelessness and into sustainable independent living for young people.

The Strategic Programmes’ team are responsible for brokering services for charity partners that broaden the offer above and beyond the core grants in three different areas:

• Pro Bono
• Employability
• Property Donation

This follows a period of development and refresh for Pro Bono, and the successful piloting of the newer Employability and Property Donation programmes. Key responsibilities

• Work with CEO and SMT to gain a strong understanding of the content we wish to deliver.
• Design a range of standardised training materials, developing curriculum plans, which are able to be tailored easily for cohorts.

We’re seeking a visionary leader who can craft and execute a dynamic fundraising strategy to propel The Orchard to the next level. This role demands a unique blend of relational and strategic acumen—someone who grounds their decisions in data, draws from a wealth of experience, and thrives on unlocking potential. By harnessing a diverse range of fundraising approaches, the right person will help us raise £100,000 per year over the next three years, enabling us to fulfil God’s calling on the organisation.

The role 

Sustrans is the UK’s leading active travel organisation, working to make it possible for people across society to walk, wheel and cycle.  We have a new strategy for the next five years, a key strand of which is to unlock active travel in new housing developments, and we are recruiting a Head of New Developments to lead this work.

This is a new position in which you will draw on your experience in the housing delivery sector to grow Sustrans’ contribution to the creation of new communities that have active mobility at their heart.  As well as leading our influencing work aimed at organisations in housing delivery, you will develop and promote an offer to partners, drawing on Sustrans’ existing infrastructure, behaviour change and advisory services.  You will connect with, inform and inspire professionals and decision makers involved in delivering new homes to adopt the actions required to increase active travel in their developments.  Through collaboration with our Commercial team and subject experts across Sustrans, you will develop a pipeline of funded work from public, private and third sector organisations, ultimately enabling more households to walk, wheel or cycle for their day-to-day journeys.

The role can be based in any Sustrans office and will involve frequent in-person meetings and site visits, particularly (but not exclusively) in the Midlands and South of England. 

About you 

You’ll have significant experience contributing to the delivery of new developments through work for or with organisations such as developers, housing providers, consultancies, local authorities or government.  We’re looking for applicants with a professional network in housing delivery, and significant experience securing new commissions from and/or influencing organisations involved in delivering new developments.  You’ll have a strong understanding of the development process, including the spatial planning system, and of the roles of the parties involved in delivering new developments, the power dynamics between them, and the opportunities and appetite each has for taking action to increase active travel.  Naturally, you’ll have deep knowledge of the challenges, opportunities and hot topics in housing delivery – for new towns, urban extensions and urban intensification schemes.

You’ll have exceptional external-facing leadership skills, and be a strategic, creative thinker, able to solve problems and convert new ideas into practical actions.  Your outstanding communication skills will enable you to engage with stakeholders at a senior level, including on contentious subjects and on high-profile projects.  You’ll have strong business acumen to secure new commissions and deliver effectively for clients, and the skills to influence decision-makers.

You’ll have experience of engaging meaningfully with communities to ensure that new developments respond to the challenges and aspirations of local residents and stakeholders.  And you’ll have good knowledge of how active travel can be embedded into new developments to maximise the number of routine journeys that are walked, wheeled or cycled.

We work in urban and rural areas, making it possible, safe and appealing for people to people to walk, wheel and cycle.  We address the barriers that prevent people from travelling actively – barriers that disproportionately affect people who live in deprived areas, those who are disabled, people who are older or younger, and women and girls.

We’re a practical, can-do charity, designing award-winning infrastructure solutions in streets and across neighbourhoods, and working with communities to give people the skills, confidence, motivation and equipment to travel actively.  We’re experts in community and stakeholder engagement, carefully navigating the sometimes heated territory of our work to tackle traffic dominance and car dependency.  And we provide data, insight and advice to decision-makers, helping them invest effectively in transport, place-shaping and their communities.  We work with government, to support wider work to improve mobility, and to advocate for changes to policy and funding.  And over the last 30 years, Sustrans has developed the National Cycle Network from scratch, working with supporters, volunteers, governments and stakeholders to create 16,500 miles of traffic-free and low-traffic routes, loved and enjoyed by communities across the UK. 

We are now embarking on a new chapter for our charity, with a refreshed strategy.  The Head of New Developments will play a key role in growing our impact in this new chapter.

This Grants and Services Co-ordinator postholder will work directly with our applicants and beneficiaries, supporting them throughout our application processes and working with successful applicants to ensure the charity provides high-quality, appropriate support. This will include making grant decisions and working with beneficiaries to develop their support network.

We are looking for someone with experience of working with clients and service users, particularly as a first point of contact. Key aspects of the role also include supporting service development and leading on data management. Working as part of a small team (of four) you will need to be able to take an adaptable approach to manage competing priorities. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build professional relationships with clients, and work collaboratively with colleagues internally and externally.

As Healthcare Professional Education & Engagement Lead at Crohn's & Colitis UK, you will be integral in the development of healthcare professional online education and engagement networks in both primary and secondary care. You will also work on a variety of other healthcare professional projects. This is a role that is both fulfilling and challenging and requires travel to healthcare professional conferences. You will be supporting the Health Services Manager and liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, all with a view to improving the quality and the standards of health services for all people affected by Crohn's and Colitis.

Our location

We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. But one thing we have learned from the pandemic, is that we are able to work very effectively from home. In this role, there is plenty of scope for doing that, although there will be times when you will need to be at face-to-face meetings and the charity meets four times a year in the office at our mandatory 'All Staff Together' days.
