Overall Purpose of the Job: To work as part of the communications team to plan, implement and optimise communications for our members.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver membership communications through our website, email and social media
• Creating and sending out member emails, ensuring that activity is consistent, accurate and timely
•  Creating social media posts across multiple Twitter accounts, as well as LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram ensuring they are accurate, consistent and timely
• Ensure the communications calendar is maintained and accurate, and work with the communications team to ensure all messaging is appropriately scheduled to ensure maximum engagement and member experience
• Supporting the team in proofreading communications to ensure messaging and standards are consistent
• Monitor and improve email and social media communications through regular reporting and recommending improvements
• Working with wider BSG team to support communication of key projects and initiatives across all channels
•  Make content additions and updates to the website as required
• Understand and use core functionality on the website to a high standard, and play a role in maintaining and improving processes and their documentation
• Work with Head of Communications and Senior Communications Executive to identify areas for improvement and recommending solutions, including proofreading existing work
•  Work with the digital team to create a website usage report and make recommendations for improvements
•  Support the events manager in organisation of BSG events including webinars and face to face events as required
• Work on the BSG stand at the annual conference and do other tasks as may be required

EXPERIENCE

• 2 years experience in a communications or similar role
• Experience using a website CMS and mailing system/CRM.
• Experience using social media scheduling and analytics tools
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English with good attention to detail
• Good working knowledge of GDPR and good data practices
• Ideally some experience using design tools such as Canva
• Competency with Microsoft Office suite

Salary: £31k - £34k depending on experience and qualifications (+11% employer pension contribution)

ABOUT THE ROLE

Role overview

The Communications Executive will co-ordinate and contribute to the planning, implementation, and optimisation of all internal and external communications. This will range from attraction campaigns, public relations, and the internal engagement calendar and events.

The role will co-ordinate production of communications for target audiences from beginning to end – from planning, writing, and editing of copy to measuring effectiveness of communications. In addition, the role will have responsibility for the Now Teach website.

Role Description

• Manage and create content for community management, including social media and internal communication channels

• Create and maintain an annual content plan to applicants and career changers in our Network.

• Write and produce interesting and engaging articles, social media content, monthly newsletters, marketing emails and webpages that help people consider career change to teaching.

• Oversee the functionality of the website, evaluate, and manage website performance, facilitate hosting and server management, and develop, maintain, and update website content.

• Creatively drive our social media channels and blogs, increasing engagement and followers.

• Research topics and conduct interviews to write blog articles and create other content.

• Make sure content planning is informed by audience insight, finding out what topics resonate for applicants and career changers in our Network.

• Build relationships with Now Teach’s career-changers and the Programme team that supports them, enabling you to understand the experience of career-changers, identify remarkable stories and find the right person to tell them.

• Take responsibility for organising and promoting our attraction/public affairs events to meet sign-up and attendance targets.

• Monitor content to see how audiences respond, refine, and innovate to improve engagement.

• Work with third parties to deliver projects, including copywriting, photos, design, and film.

• Support the PR Specialist, sourcing case studies and helping identify opportunities.

• Identify and test good practice to make our communications effective and industry leading.

• Support Now Teach’s internal and Network communications.

• We want everyone with Prader-Willi syndrome to get equal access to diagnosis and treatment no matter where in the world they live and to ensure better, more consistent outcomes for people with the syndrome and their families.

• Our membership comprises PWS associations in 47 countries and we support individual families and professionals in over 70 other countries.

Key Fundraising Responsibilities

• Develop communications content that will invigorate our existing donors and inspire new ones leading to increased giving by individuals to IPWSO.
• Focusing in particular on our website and social media channels, communicate our achievements, impacts and needs with a view to influencing IPWSO’s online supporters to make donations and engage in fundraising initiatives.

What you will do

The role

Cruse Bereavement Support is a charity providing bereavement information and support to grieving people across the UK. We are looking for an organised and motivated Marketing and Communications Officer to join our small marcomms team and help increase the reach and engagement of our digital marketing and communications channels.

You will be responsible for helping us reach more bereaved people, volunteers and supporters with our content and digital products. The Global Legal Action Network (GLAN) works with affected communities to pursue innovative legal actions across borders to challenge states and other powerful actors involved in human rights violations and systemic injustice. Our actions address the most pressing instances of human rights concern and they fall within the following themes: War and occupation; accountability and supply chains; environmental and economic justice; and migration and border violence.

Since our establishment in 2016, we have developed legal strategies directly addressing human rights impacts in over 23 countries and territories. Our cases include the successful legal challenge against imports of cotton produced with forced labour in Xinjiang (East Turkistan) into the UK on behalf of World Uyghur Congress and the climate case against 32 European States before the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights, brought on behalf of six Portuguese youth-applicants.

More recently, we have supported the preeminent Palestinian human rights organisation Al Haq, to rapidly challenge UK weapons exports to Israel due to the risk of these arms being used in violations of international law. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Head of Strategic Communications at GLAN, you will spearhead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy that amplifies GLAN's mission and impact on a global scale.

You will lead the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of all communications efforts to enhance the organisation's brand, increase public awareness, and support advocacy and fundraising initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBITIES

Communications Strategy

• Align cross-media communication strategies with thematic goals to maximise success across all initiatives. Develop campaign & advocacy communications which will influence change.

• Lead and mentor a high-performing communications and advocacy team, currently including a Campaigns Coordinator.

Independent Age is the national charity focused on improving the lives of people facing financial hardship in later life. We believe no one should face financial hardship in later life. Our Helpline and expert advisers offer free, practical support to older people without enough money to live on. The Media Communications Manager is responsible for overseeing Independent Age’s media communications programme, including media and PR, social media, celebrities and stories. They will lead the team to secure profile-raising coverage for our work in a range of print, online and broadcast media outlets including national news, consumer, sector-specific, and regional titles, oversee our organic social media and ensure our channels amplify our work and reach older people, decision makers and other influential stakeholders.

The Media Communications Manager will build excellent relationships with older people with lived experience of poverty, ensuring the voices of older people in financial hardship are at the centre of everything we do. They will also grow the organisations relationships with journalists, channel owners, celebrities, ambassadors, and other influencers to ensure that our media communications activity supports our organisational objective to tackle poverty in later life.    

You should have broad experience of developing and implementing innovative, successful profile-raising plans (across digital and traditional channels).  You will bring an ability to work both proactively and reactively, and experience of handling reputational or crisis issues.
