- Experience of developing and maintaining effective working relationships with journalists, internal and external contacts influencing change.
- High level of ICT literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and document management systems).
- Strong understanding of UK and/or Irish trade and national media landscape, particularly health and mental health.
- Outstanding spoken and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex information into simple accessible information at pace.
- Creative thinking with the ability to develop relevant content independently.

Job Purpose
The Executive Assistant will provide operational, strategic and analytical support to the DCEO. Job description
The Operations Coordinator is one of four core staff team members at Zero Carbon Guildford (ZCG), and leads on facilities and event management, organisational processes, and reporting. In the event of a premises move, they will also lead the charity through the physical move. This is a critical role to the smooth running of the charity, helping create and communicate systems that staff and volunteers use to deliver our objectives more efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities
Building and facilities management:

Maintaining the effective operation and presentation of the charity’s premises in support of our goals. This includes ensuring building compliance, upkeep and maintenance, and ensuring volunteers have appropriate training and guidance to use the space.

In the event of moving premises, manage both contractual arrangements and the physical moving process.
Support ZCG’s strategy to establish a more permanent physical space, by engaging with new developments in Guildford and council officers.
Events management:

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most.
Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme currently supports around 3,600 children a year. It pairs disadvantaged, struggling five to eight-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who come from over 170 local and national businesses. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.
Our Volunteer Engagement Department, which the Volunteer Support Officer role will be part of, ensures that volunteers have everything that they need to make a success of their reading sessions with pupils.

As the Project Officer for Dartmoor, you will deliver the Bike It Moor project, which forms part of the Dartmoor’s Dynamic Landscapes (DDL) programme. You will work in partnership and collaboration with other the DDL partners, who are also delivering projects as part of DDL, to accomplish shared objectives and targets. The DDL programme is led by Dartmoor National Park Authority (DNPA) and made possible by a grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. You will engage and work with selected schools and their wider communities in the project areas, developing and delivering fun, engaging and innovative activities and events. These will be inclusive and promote and enable all forms of active travel (walking, cycling, scooting and wheeling) to school.
You will plan and deliver practical skills (like cycle and scooter skills sessions, bike maintenance and led walks and rides), information events (such as assemblies, drop-in sessions, pop up stands), competitions, incentive programmes and classroom sessions. PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Grant And Project Finance

Restricted funds: Maintain meticulous records for all restricted and designated funds, ensuring compliance with all donor and grant conditions.

Grant reporting: Lead on preparing detailed financial reports for funders (e.g., Arts Council England, trusts, foundations), ensuring all expenditure is accurately recorded and compliant with specific grant requirements. Consolidate all the above into a shared reporting calendar.
Person Specification
Essential experience and knowledge

Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/AAT), with at least 5-10 years of demonstrable, progressive experience in a similar finance role, with a significant portion gained within the UK charity/non-profit sector.

In-depth, practical knowledge of UK charity financial regulations and Charity SORP.

Expert-level understanding of VAT for charities, including partial exemption and trading subsidiaries.

Proven ability to manage the full accounting cycle, from transaction entry (bookkeeping) through to preparing statutory accounts.

Experience in managing the annual audit process and engaging with external auditors.

Excellent proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Aquila) and advanced Excel skills.
