To help realise our ambition, we are looking for a Director of Fundraising and Communications to join our senior leadership team and support the charity in achieving our goals.

The role

This crucial role will help to strategically grow and develop our income and awareness. As part of the Senior Management Team, you will report directly to the charity’s CEO, have key Trustee relationships with the Chair and Fundraising lead Trustee, and build collaborative relationships with the senior staff and clinicians across St George’s University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

You will build and lead the fundraising and communications team, both strategically and operationally, whilst managing them through a period of change. You will drive and deliver fundraising and marketing strategies, identify key areas to accelerate growth across a diversified range of income streams, and drive greater brand awareness.

This role will be required in the office a minimum of two days a week, with flexibility to engage with key stakeholders in the hospital according to their availability.

The person

We are seeking an experienced senior fundraiser to develop and grow sustainable, long-term support across all income streams, but with particular attention to the high-value portfolio.  

With proven experience of successfully developing and implementing ambitious fundraising and communications strategies, you will be an exceptional relationship builder, capable of building and nurturing strong and productive relationships, both internally and externally. Streatham Youth and Community Trust (SYCT) is seeking an experienced Interim CEO to navigate the organisation through a critical period of transition. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in turnaround management within the charitable sector, capable of implementing strategic and operational changes to address systemic issues and rebuild organisational strength and sustainability, while stabilising the relationship with the wider community.

SYCT is currently facing significant financial and operational challenges. In this context, the board and the newly appointed CEO have had to make a number of difficult but necessary decisions. The recent closure of the charity-run nursery due to a combination of quality and financial viability concerns has resulted in a significant amount of noise. As a result, she has decided that she is not the right person to lead the turnaround efforts. She will stay in post until 28th June 2024 if needed, but is happy to step back after a brief handover as soon as a suitable Interim CEO can start in the role.

Top priorities for the Interim CEO will be leading the organisation through a period of restructuring, focusing on rebuilding core services, stakeholder relationships, processes and systems; and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including health and safety standards and HR protocols.

• Salary: c.£75,000 per annum, pro rata.

· This is a nine-month interim position with the strong possibility of extension to twelve months based on organisational needs.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Proven experience as a CEO or senior executive in a turnaround management capacity, preferably within the charitable sector.
• Track record of establishing effective policies, processes and systems within an organisation.
• Strong financial acumen and experience in financial restructuring and budgetary management.
• Demonstrable leadership skills with a track record of leading organisations and teams through significant organisational and cultural change.
• Sound understanding of governance, compliance, and risk management principles.

As Marketing Executive, you’ll have a broad and varied role, working with our Marketing and Digital Manager to deliver Marketing and Communications projects at a critical time for the Football Foundation and for grassroots sports. Working within the Brand, Marketing and Communications Team, you’ll provide proactive support across all Marketing and Communications activity.

You’ll work with the team to plan and deliver impactful campaigns, including the creation of campaign launch presentations and coordinating campaign evaluations. What can we offer you?

The salary band for this role is £35,000 - £39,000 per annum, dependent on relevant skills and experience.

About the post of CEO

You will report directly to the Board of Trustees, ensuring excellent governance of the Charity, regulatory compliance with the Charity Commission and Companies House, and will collaborate with Trustees on designing and executing the 2024-2027 strategy. You will lead and support a team of seven staff, supporting 500+ older and disabled Neighbours annually with a large team of volunteers. You will ensure excellent management of charity’s finances and that adequate funding is in place to maintain all charitable activity, monitoring and evaluation. You will have strategic leadership experience and have previously led teams. You will have a strong understanding of charity governance and will have demonstrable fundraising knowledge and/or experience. JOB DESCRIPTION

Strategy and Operations

1. Develop, implement, and lead execution of the charity's annual operational plan and 3-year strategic plan.

2. Identify appropriate level of staffing, volunteering, ensuring that all staff and volunteers are appropriately interviewed, vetted, inducted, trained, developed, and supported to deliver against their objectives.

3. Ensure appropriate upkeep, security, and management of the charity’s premises, including all relevant contracts and payments.

4. Ensure that the charity’s IT systems are fit for purpose and compliant with relevant law.

People

5. Line management of seven staff members, and responsibility for staff and team development, cohesion and appraisals.

6. Recruit and support social club facilitators and appropriate consultants to provide additional resource to the charity as required.

7. Lead staff member for safeguarding, liaising directly with Hammersmith and Fulham Adult Social Care.

8. Ensure appropriate mechanisms and safeguards are in place to support up to 100 regular volunteers, and up to 100 additional corporate/student volunteers.

9. Ensure appropriate mechanisms and safeguards are in place to support up to 500 beneficiaries and additional attendees at FGN events.

Finance and Fundraising

10. Develop, implement, and lead charity’s financial and fundraising planning and management, ensuring that the charity operates at least at break-even, ideally with a small surplus.

11. Ensure that the charity has a diverse range of income across various streams, inclusive of (but not limited to) public sector, trusts and foundations, corporate income, events, and online giving.

12. Ensure that the charity is receiving value for money with all expenditure, ensuring contract review on a timely basis as appropriate.

13. Ensure appropriate cashflow projections so that expenditure does not exceed income in any one year unless pre-agreed with trustees.

14. Ensure that appropriate financial controls are in place so to protect charity and anyone handling money on behalf of the charity.

15. In conjunction with the finance administrator and hon. treasurer monitor all income, expenditure, accounts, funding investments and budgets.

Governance

16 Ensure compliance with charity and company law, inclusive of writing, presentation and filing of annual report and accounts and other Company Secretary duties.

17 Organise, attend, record and report at board meetings every two months, inclusive of finance and operations reporting and the regular cycle of governance reviews.

18 Plan, organise and attend AGM and annual strategy session.

19 Ensure appropriate level of risk management and insurance are in place for the charity.

20 Ensure all relevant policies, procedures and financial controls are in place, inclusive of annual review.

Communications and Impact

21. Represent and promote the charity in public, sourcing media opportunities as appropriate so to increase visibility.

22. Represent the charity on appropriate networks and forums so to develop stakeholder relationships and source opportunities for cross-partner collaboration.

23. Ensure positive, fit-for-purpose, internal and external communications, inclusive of monthly newsletters, social media presence and other marketing materials.

24. Ensure appropriate monitoring and evaluation of projects and develop relationships with academic institutions and/or research consultancies where possible so to elicit external perspectives and scrutiny of the charity’s work.

25. Build relationships with local stakeholders and businesses.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential requirements

1. Senior management experience within the charity sector or similar

We are looking for seven new members to join our Professional Conduct Committee and Health Committee: the positions are for three osteopaths and four non-osteopaths (lay positions). This is an opportunity to become part of a fair decision-making process for a modern, inclusive and innovative healthcare regulator.

These relate to professional misconduct, incompetence or where an osteopath is convicted of a criminal offence. Professional Conduct Committee members also sit on the Health Committee, which considers cases where an osteopath’s health may impair their ability to practise.

You will be expected to commit no more than 20 days a year (often a few days at a time) depending on caseload, plus some extra time, for example for mandatory training, reading and appraisals. The daily attendance fee is £330 (with a further payment of £50 per day for lay members when they are sitting as a Panel Chair). We pay reasonable travel and subsistence expenses. Appointment starts on 1 April 2025 (initially for up to four years).

About You

Key Responsibilities

· Manage the  Executive Director’s diary, including scheduling meetings, coordinating with
colleagues to align diaries, and prioritising tasks in line with strategic priorities.

· Represent the Executive  Director and OIN by greeting visitors, handling phone calls, and
managing communications with internal and external stakeholders.

· Manage key reporting processes, including receiving, approving, distributing reports, and
filing them accurately.

· Attend and minute meetings, both internal and external.

· Support the Executive  Director in producing high-quality materials such as presentations,
 documents, and reports, liaising with external agencies when necessary.

· Coordinate travel arrangements and accommodations for the Executive Director.

· Manage expenses and financial records for the Executive Director.

· Assist in the preparation of proposals, applications, and reports, providing administrative
support as needed.

· Support the Executive Director in maintaining relationships with donors, partners, and
stakeholders..

· Conduct research and gather information on relevant topics as requested.

· Facilitate internal communications within the organisation, including disseminating
information, coordinating team meetings, and maintaining communication channels.

· Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism,
maintaining confidentiality at all times.

· Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or senior management
team.

A small charity that supports the children’s and neonatal intensive care units at St Mary’s & Queen Charlotte's Hospital by helping patients and their families, and by enabling our dedicated team of nurses and doctors to treat hundreds of babies and children in intensive care.

What you’ll responsible for: 

As CEO, you will:

• Provide clear leadership, strategic direction and management for the Charity, its employees and volunteers.
• Elevate the Charity's income streams.  
• Work with and support the Chair, Trustees and finance committee ensure good governance of the organisation.

Harris Hill is excited to be working with a London based literacy charity to assit them in finding an interim Marketing Executive within their Media and Communications team.

This role is covering a leaver and recruitment period, so will need to remain flexible in its term. However, a permanent opening will be available. This is a hybrid role with 3 days in the office and 2 from home.

The main focus of this role is to grow awareness and membership for the charity. You will implement their media communications strategy, manage their magazine, identify and place press stories a grow and engage with audiences.

• At least two year’s experience working in an administrative role working with senior leaders, preferably an EA or PA role

Key Responsibilities

Personal Administration Support

• Manage the Chief Executive’s diary, optimising the efficient use of time and resources through effective planning and ‘gate-keeping’ in a relational style that represents the charity’s values
• Ensure all necessary briefing papers and documents are compiled for the Chief Executive in good time in advance of meetings
• Prepare and present excellent Powerpoint and other presentations for internal and external audiences, e.g., meetings with donors, trustees and other key stakeholders.

Governance Support

• Co-ordinate and attend Trustees’ meetings, including arranging dates, preparing papers in advance, taking and sending out minutes
• Administrate the Investors’, Communications, Fundraising, Strategy and Finance, and other Trustee Steering Groups
• Support with various ad hoc projects to enable robust organisational governance
• Coordinate the Strategic Delivery team monthly meeting, and Senior Leadership Team weekly meeting, including organising meeting dates, preparing agendas and sending out minutes, as well as ensuring follow-up actions are completed
• Provide administrative support to the wider senior leadership team
