Leading the Education partnerships team,  responsibility for the development of all Educaiton customers and for maintaining the income generation and young people targets in line with the overall Trust strategy and annual requirements.

Who we’re looking for

A dynamic individual who is capable of balancing the mix of future vision with everyday demands.

This a senior management position which is responsible for the strategic direction and the leadership day to day operation of our extremely busy Education Team. The role requires you to be strategic but pragmatic, balancing the mission and purpose of The Trust with tactical day to day delivery of Sales support and partnership working across the organisation.

You will manage a team of up to ten direct reports, and will also need to build strong relationships across The Trust with fellow Senior Managers and Directors, and most specifically with our Centre Management teams, Fundraising and Marketing Teams. You will need to balance carefully the needs of our internal and external customers, allocating time and resources accordingly. Also, The Trust has a new strategic plan looking at growth of the number of young people we work with, including the recently launched Schools Adventure Programme.

Your experience

We would love you to have a strong background in Sales with proven effective results but also having commercial acumen and experience, with the ability to think and act strategically. You will have a minimum of three years experience of leading, managing and inspiring teams. A supportive approach to the development and coaching of the team is an essential element within this. 

The ability to work confidently and flexibly across all Trust departments, supporting where required. 

A solid knowledge of the Education Sector for both Scotland and England as well as proven relationship building skills, and enjoyment of working collaboratively across departments and at all levels through effective communication. 

Working for the Trust requires a Flexible ‘can-do’ attitude to workload, able to multitask and re-prioritise projects at short notice.

Areas of repsponsibility

• Leadership and management of the Education Team, providing direction, challenge, support and development as appropriate. This will also involve coaching and supporting the team in their professional development, as well as in the management and execution of sales targets.
• Development and ownership of The Education Team’s annual revenue target, specifically looking at Charitable funding levels, volumes and occupancy levels across all centres.
• Ownership of and responsibility for all aspects of the Education sector, ensuring that all aspects of marketing, sales, customer service, delivery and finance are reviewed and implemented to a high standard with the overall objective of informing greater impact for the clients
• Working collaboratively with Early Careers Business Development and Summer Adventures to share ownership of the current capacity levels. Ensuring optimum fill and a responsible client mix.
• Building strong relationships internally and externally. Developing and supporting the Education Team with new initiatives and lead generation ideas.
• Supporting the centre operational teams to have clarity of the sector and a deeper awareness of the Education teams role and focus.
• Ownership of the Education cost centre budget, including the development of return on investment data wherever possible.
• Optimising the use of all internal CRM systems and associated reporting for management purposes.
• Contributing to the work of the wider senior leadership team as required, including attending and contributing to senior team discussions, acting as an ambassador for The Trust at events and conferences, supporting colleagues in other areas of The Trust’s work.

Location: Home-based with average 1 day per week in head office / centre location. The role will include considerable travel.

Settling in period

There is a 3-month settling in period from contract start date.

Skills and experience

• Demonstrable experience of having successfully worked with charity boards and committees including writing agendas and concise and accurate minute taking

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with excellent written English

• Familiarity with charity governance requirements and the UK Charity Governance Code

• Professionalism, discretion, and sound judgement in handling sensitive information

• Comfort working independently and remotely; able to meet deadlines with minimal supervision

• Company Secretary Experience desirable

• Experience with Google Workspace and basic formatting tools for paper packs preferred

Purpose of the Role

Faith underpins all our work and, in this key role the post holder will support the Christian journey by providing resources for personal prayer, spiritual guidance, corporate worship, religious education, and contribute to and participate in member and central charity led events and worship.

This role will explore and research issues about the Christian faith that are relevant to Mothers’ Union, keep the rest of the Charity up to date on issues in the Anglican communion and wider church – and input into the design of MU strategic aims, and work collaboratively with organisations externally on developing resources and implementing faith-based initiatives.

This role will also be responsible for managing Mothers’ Union’s Church-based membership and our Faith and Diocesan Chaplains member-based forums.

However, the focus for this role will be the proactive outreach, development, and maintenance of faith related relationships primarily in Britain and Ireland. This includes creating and managing high-level networks of Christian influencers, Bishops and the wider clergy, and key faith-based organisations to improve the profile, understanding and integration of Mothers' Union within the Anglican communion and ecumenically and to grow our reach, membership numbers, and influence.

A key remit of the Faith & Church Engagement Manager post will be to participate and contribute to our faith-based discussions and resources within Mothers’ Union. For this reason, the post holder must be a practicing Christian. (Occupational requirement Equality Act 2010).

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Faith management and resources

1. To lead on the development of faith resources within Mothers’ Union (MU) and lead the strategic planning of all faith initiatives, theological rationales for Mothers’ Union specific initiatives and the overall mission.

2. To ensure that MU employees understand as part of the induction process and throughout their employment, how faith guides the work and relationships of MU.

3. Working with the Director of Membership, contribute to the strategic plan for all faith initiatives and clergy and church relations within Mothers’ Union.

4. To lead MU’s faith-based forums, to work where needed with the Worldwide Board and our Central Chaplain.

5. To facilitate theological underpinning to inform our work by exploring, researching, and gathering relevant data from various sources to keep abreast of new developments and initiatives.

6. To generate faith and church-based content for our website, magazine and newsletters and deliver MU’s prayer diary and oversea Midday Prayers.

7. To work with Mothers’ Union Enterprises on resources and products that have a faith dimension or spiritual content.

8. To work with our Worldwide President or designated member of the Worldwide Board to deliver faith and worship materials for Board and Worldwide Council meetings.

9. To receive, monitor and review MU’s worldwide resources to encourage and develop the contribution these make to the distinctive faith work of Mothers’ Union.

10. To maintain and develop all Faith Resources, identifying and developing new and uniquely MU resources to be added and archiving when required dated resources.

Membership Support – Britain and Ireland

1. To produce creative and accessible prayer and worship resources for use within our membership and more widely.

2. To identify the needs of members at every level for up-to-date information and resources on theology, faith, spirituality, worship/liturgy, Christian ethics and pastoral issues for group or individual use, and to commission a range of resources to meet those needs.

3. To build and manage external partnerships, within the Church and with other faith centred organisations, developing and promoting our work with these organisations.

4. Working closely with the Director of Membership and wider Membership team, to plan and lead faith aspects at conferences and meetings as requested.

5. To help design and implement projects and campaigns that provide an active engagement for our members, raise the public profile of Mothers’ Union, contribute to membership growth strategies and further the mission to promote the Christian faith and the wellbeing of families.

6. Work with the wider membership team on the design, implementation, and delivery of new membership growth models and manage existing membership models including Church-based Membership.

General

1. To produce and provide reports and resources as required for the Chief Executive and Board.
2. To promote the Christian faith and prioritise the wellbeing of families with members, the clergy, external partners, wider faith organisations, and the Anglican church.
3. To further the promotion and integration of Mothers’ Union work with the clergy and within the Anglican Church and facilitate policy and advocacy support for MU campaigns.
4. To undertake any other duties as requested by the Director of Membership.

Experience/skills

1. Experience of writing accessible worship material and of being open to different worship styles.

3. Experience of engaging, developing and nurturing faith relationships at all levels, from members to boards, to very senior clergy.

4. Good word-processing skills- proficient at using MS Office in particular Word, Outlook, meeting platforms including Zoom and Teams and proactive social media management.

Work Location

This role will be based at our Head Office in Central London. Mothers’ Union operates a hybrid working model. Staff are required to work an aggregate minimum of 90 days per calendar year (Pro rata for part timers) at our Head Office, Mary Sumner House in Central London. Tuesdays are our anchor days where every staff member is expected to be at the office. The 90 days includes anchor Tuesdays.

About the Role 

We are seeking a capable, motivated Operations Manager to lead on the effective running of our charity’s systems and operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring our work remains efficient, financially sustainable, and aligned with our strategic goals. 

Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Leadership Team, you will oversee the smooth functioning of our internal systems—including finance, CRM, IT, and communications—while supporting fundraising processes and continuous improvement across the organisation. 

This position will suit an organised, analytical, and values-driven professional who enjoys making systems work smarter and supporting teams to deliver impact. 

Key Responsibilities 

1. Leading Our Operations: Accountable for the smooth operational running of our Operational, HR and Financial Systems, including Salesforce, and identifying operational risks that could affect the charity’s mission. Your proactive approach will help us stay on track and keep making a difference.

2. Supporting Our Fundraising: Work closely with other members of the Leadership Team to identify fundraising opportunities, support with bid writing, and take responsibility for individual giving, managing our fundraising CRM, Donorfy. 

3. Supporting Change: Accountable for managing transitional change programmes across the organisation in respect to operational processes and procedures. Help our team adapt to new processes and procedures by providing guidance, training, and resources.

4. Financial Oversight: Understand the revenues and expenses of the charity in order to promote operational efficiency while managing cashflow risks. Whilst this role doesn’t require advanced experience in accounting or bookkeeping, the holder will take responsibility for day-to-day finance processes, including invoicing, account reconciliation on our account software Xero, and monthly financial reporting, as well as working alongside our external accountant. 

5. Communications and IT Fluency: Oversee systems supporting communications and marketing, including our social media platforms and website, ensuring effective collaboration with our external partners.

As Head of Media and Public Affairs you will lead, plan, develop and implement effective media and public affairs strategies to actively promote the RCPCH and its priorities for maximum influence and impact.

The Head of Media and Public Affairs is an important leadership role at the College. You will work closely with journalists and media organisations to champion the College in the media as well as securing political support for our policy messages, through stakeholder relationships within the UK Government, Whitehall and the Westminster Parliament.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Policy & External Affairs, you will manage, direct and motivate the team to successfully achieve performance goals. You will play a pivotal role in driving the College’s Westminster public affairs work to secure our advocacy goals and you will also manage the out-of-hours media rota, being flexible to be on-call to media as required. • Leading on specific projects and campaigns as part of the Cut the Rent campaign and other campaign priorities decided by LRU members.  For example, if the campaigns committee decides to target a particular developer or politician as part of the wider Cut the Rent campaign.

• Working with the Union Coordinator and members to implement and track progress on the overall Cut the Rent strategy.

• Implementing organising approaches to ensure that the Cut the Rent campaigns builds the active membership and power of the union.

• Working alongside the Union Coordinator to represent LRU in external meetings and events, and help to build LRU’s relationships with other organisations.  Supporting members to do this.

• Ensure meetings of the Campaigns Committee are effective and well run.

• Work alongside members and other other staff to ensure branches participate in the Cut the Rent campaign, and feed into strategy.

• Contribute to the collective activity of the Organising Team, including taking part in phone banking and outreach sessions and team meetings.

• As time allows, work alongside other members of the staff Organising Team to support members outside of branch areas to participate in the Cut the Rent campaign.
