Job description

Do you have a flair for telling stories and bringing engaging content to life?

This is a hands-on role where you’ll create dynamic, multi-channel content that inspires, informs, and grows our audiences, helping us share the stories of Brunel’s iconic ship, the Brunel Institute, and the wider SS Great Britain Trust.

From capturing unique video content and reels to delivering bold campaigns, you’ll help us reach ambitious engagement and visitor targets.

What you’ll do

  • Plan, create, and schedule engaging content for our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok) and website, in line with our brand voice.
  • Produce, capture, edit and publish high-quality photography, video, and copy, including short-form video, blogs, news articles, and event listings.
  • Organise photography and filming shoots with external creatives to generate original content for our channels.
  • Work with colleagues across the Trust to identify great stories and opportunities for rich multimedia content.
  • Drive forward growth across all social media channels, delivering a new content strategy that increases reach and engagement while communicating our key messages and tone of voice.
  • Act as the point of contact for in-house PR and manage press inboxes, ensuring timely and professional responses.
  • Support press and PR activity, including arranging interviews and escorting media/guests on site and organising press and influencer events.
  • Use social media listening and analytics tools to monitor conversations, measure performance, and recommend improvements.
  • Support the Digital Marketing Manager and Marketing & Campaigns Manager to deliver comprehensive and creative campaign strategies.
  • Support paid advertising campaigns and influencer engagement.
  • Coordinate with external agencies and freelancers for photography, filming and
    design projects.
  • Keep up to date with emerging digital trends and best practice in the heritage, attractions and museum sectors.
  • Regularly report on KPIS through monthly dashboards.

What you’ll bring

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong digital content creation skills (photography, video, copywriting, design).
  • Proficiency in editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop.
  • Excellent copywriting and proofreading skills.
  • Knowledge of social media strategy, analytics, and SEO best practice.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to juggle
    multiple projects.
  •  A collaborative, audience-focused mindset with excellent interpersonal skills.

Experience

  • At least one year’s experience in a marketing, digital content or social media role (in-house or freelance).
  • Proven experience producing engaging content for a range of platforms.
  • Experience working with different stakeholders, managing deadlines, and delivering to brand guidelines.
  • Experience with content scheduling tools (e.g. Hootsuite) and analytics platforms (e.g. Google Analytics).

Why join us?

At Brunel’s SS Great Britain you’ll be part of a passionate and creative team working in one of the UK’s most inspiring visitor attractions. You’ll have the opportunity to shape how our audiences connect with our stories, collections, and experiences, all while developing your own skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.
