A little bit about the role 

The trusts fundraiser role sits in the fundraising team within the external relations division. The fundraising team is responsible for raising between £1m and £1.5m in fundraised income annually. Frontline’s philanthropic income complements the significant contract income the charity receives from central and local government and enables the charity to carry out its broader mission to create social change for hundreds of thousands of disadvantaged children.

Since we were founded in 2013, Frontline has leveraged its success to build committed, high impact partnerships with a number of prestigious supporters including trusts and foundations, corporates and high net worth individuals. Our new fundraising strategy focuses on continuing to grow our network of supporters by maintaining excellent relationships with our current funders while identifying new potential donors, and at the same time testing and developing fundraising through community and events and individual giving.

We are now looking for a trusts fundraiser to help drive this strategy forward. The successful candidate will have experience in building relationships and securing income, helping us to build relationships with new trust funders while stewarding effectively our current trust and foundation relationships.

The successful candidate will work closely with the head of fundraising and the fundraising manager to implement Frontline’s annual fundraising plan, taking specific responsibility for researching, building relationships with, writing persuasive proposals to and securing income from new trust and foundation funders, while also providing excellent stewardship and reporting to current funders. The fundraising team is supported by the marketing, events and communications staff of the external relations division.

Some key responsibilities include:

• To develop a pipeline of potential trust funders through prospect research, the development of strong relationships, and writing of persuasive, creative and inspiring applications. 
• To arrange meetings and engagement opportunities with new funders, including ensuring that other Frontline staff are involved in supporting applications and pitches where appropriate. 
• To account manage a portfolio of existing trust supporters, providing excellent stewardship and planning and writing high quality grant and funding reports in line with reporting deadlines. 
• To work closely with other teams at Frontline, particularly the fellowship team and evaluation team, to develop proposals and reports, bring funders closer to our work and help inspire a culture of fundraising across the charity.

A little bit about you 

You will be an experienced fundraiser, with experience in securing grants from trusts and foundations in particular. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, target-driven and passionate about delivering persuasive cases for support through crafting creative and imaginative funding proposals.

We have a fast-moving culture within the team and organisation, so we’re looking for someone who is who is well organised, details-focused and can use their initiative to do what works. You will have excellent communication skills, be able to build relationships with people and be willing to learn. As custodians of the Nations Master Film Collection, exhibit film at BFI Southbank, run the London Film Festival and operate the BFI IMAX – the UK’s largest cinema screen, they are also a National Lottery Distributor, and an NDPB (Non-Departmental Public Body reporting into DCMS (Department for Culture, Media and Sport).

Procurement at the BFI is governed by Public Sector regulations procuring goods and services totalling on average £25m a year with all procurement over £10k in value managed by the Procurement team and as such the successful candidate will need to be experienced in public sector procurement.  Ideally, you will also be a generalist as the breadth of procurement at BFI is extensive, and you will demonstrate the skills to run both below and above threshold tenders with knowledge of frameworks. 

You will have:

• A Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Level 4 Diploma (CIPS) or degree or equivalent vocational training.
• Completed and implemented the government mandated modules training and obtaining a certificate of completion for the new Procurement Regulations (essential)
• Demonstrable experience in a Procurement department and good knowledge and understanding of UK Procurement legislation, including framework agreements and end to end tendering in practice. 
• Familiarity with Government procurement related issue and In-Tend or other electronic tendering systems.

Thames Chase Community Forest was established in 1990 and covers an area of 98 square miles on the edge of east London and south-west Essex. Thames Chase Trust welcomes around 65,000 visitors per year to the Forest Centre complex. The architecturally acclaimed Visitor Centre is the information hub for the entire Community Forest and includes a cafe, shop, and public toilets. The complex also includes a 17th century barn, original stable block, refurbished Education Room, and farm cottages.

Our dedicated and friendly Forest Centre team seeks to provide the best possible visitor experience and to continue to develop and grow the complex. You will manage volunteers and five members of staff focussed on the Forest Centre complex. The staff team includes four Forest Centre Assistants and one Forest Centre Caretaker. You will also work closely with the Progammes Team whose focus is project delivery across the Community Forest.

You will bring this spectacular place closer to the hearts of visitors, our local communities and our many partners and you will lead on facilities, retail, catering (outsourced), visitor experience, membership, and volunteer teams. 

You will show initiative in developing the visitor experience through events, guiding, informing, and reinforcing the Thames Chase Plan, brand and values.

Essential knowledge, skills and experience

• A well-developed understanding of the fundraising mix, and the principles and processes that underpin fundraising success at all levels.

• Experience of developing and delivering strategies to achieve business objectives.

• Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-cutting teams to deliver exceptional work.

• Outstanding written and oral communication skills with experience of translating complex information into effective, persuasive and clear language for a variety of purposes.

• Proven experience of policy development and negotiation.

• Experience of working with a wide range of colleagues from a variety of disciplines across a large and complex organisation and providing consultancy and support to senior colleagues on a specialised area of expertise.

• Experience of effectively managing budgets.

Our continued growth means we now wish to appoint a highly experienced Executive Partnerships Manager.

This is a full-time position of 37.5 hours per week with one hour’s unpaid lunch. We offer a generous and competitive benefit package. You will work from our Warwick office Monday to Thursday inclusive and from home on Fridays. It is expected that there will be some travel associated with this role

Main components of the role:

*Identify, explore and secure corporate and philanthropic relationships that result in sponsorship, partnerships and legacy donations, ideally as long term relationships

*Substantial previous experience of securing funding from philanthropic bodies, whether in the UK or abroad.

*Significant previous experience of securing charitable partnerships

*Experience of securing high value philanthropic funding, both inside and outside of the UK and who is familiar with undertaking due diligence exploration

*Research and identify tendering opportunities within the charity’s scope. You should have previous bid writing experience, ideally related to local authority and NHS tendering.  You should have first class grant application skills and a high success rate.

*Optimising the revenue opportunties from our traded services programmes

*Achieve month by month income growth through donations, traded services, philanthropic giving, partnerships, bids and grants

*Always scanning for new ways to generate income from multiple streams with multiple values or other benefits

*Significant account management skills.

*You can hit the ground running – creating and building your own client lists

*Be an active member of the senior leadership team

*Lead on all income generation activities by growing new and existing business

*Line manage, and set KPIs for, the events & fundraising team the marketing team and the traded services coordinator (5 staff in total)

*Create business plans, sales & revenue optimisation strategies

*Work closely with our finance team

*Prepare quotations for our services

*Produce monthly trading and income growth reports for the CEO

*Supervise the creation of , and manage the progression of, all new service contracts

*Reviewing, amending and updating our current sales and partnerships processes and policies

*Attend networking events from time to time

About you:

. You should live within one hour’s travel from our Warwick offices to meet the needs of the Charity.

*You can forge, foster and develop excellent working relationships and partnerships

*Should hold a degree in business management or equivalent

*You will have worked within the charitable sector previously, preferably within mental health, in a senior position

*Securing agreed monthly value of funding across all sources

*Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, presenting well to potential and existing clients

*First class negotiation skills

*Strong research, strategy and project management capabilities

*Have up to date business intelligence, both in the UK and abroad

We are working in partnership with SongBird Survival, an independent charity working to solve the ecological crisis for songbirds through scientific research, to secure their new Scientific Research and Impact Manager.

Since 2000, SongBird Survival has been fighting for a better future for UK songbirds, and they are the only national UK charity solely dedicated to make a positive impact for songbirds in the face of this devastating ecological emergency. Their goals are to drive impactful conservation through scientific research, protect songbirds by raising awareness and inspiring action, and safeguarding the most at-risk songbird species in the UK. SongBird Survival do this by commissioning independent scientific research into the causes of the catastrophic decline in songbird numbers, translating research findings into actionable strategies, which aim to make a tangible difference in the protection and preservation of songbird populations. They also campaign for change, working with other NGOs and policymakers.

The Scientific Research and Impact Manager role is at the heart of SongBird Survival’s mission, ensuring that their research not only advances scientific understanding but also influences policy change, engages stakeholders, and strengthens communications and fundraising strategies. The postholder will oversee research projects, build key partnerships, and turn findings into practical conservation strategies. 

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

• Degree level education in Ecology or an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience, with comprehensive knowledge of songbird and other small bird ecology.
• Knowledge and understanding of how scientific research is commissioned and delivered, as well as the ability to assimilate and appraise relevant information.
• Track record of translating scientific findings into policy, communications and stakeholder engagement.
• Knowledge of UK environmental policy and its impact on conservation efforts.
