Service Delivery:
• Provide strategic and operational leadership across all service delivery areas, including support line services, group work,  advocacy, external communications, and policy.

• Lead the continuous improvement and development of service delivery models, ensuring impact, effectiveness, and alignment with the charity’s mission.

Governance:
• In partnership with the board of trustees, set and articulate our vision, mission and strategy, and keep this under continual

Finance & Fundraising:
• Working with the Chief Operating Officer and the Board of Trustees, ensure Mermaids has robust, deliverable fundraising 
and finance strategies in place, and subsequent action plans are embedded throughout the organisation to support their 
delivery.
• In partnership with the Chief Operating Officer, ensure Mermaids has robust finance, HR, IT, data privacy and governance processes and procedures are embedded.

People and Culture:
• Line manage senior staff including the COO and service delivery managers.

About the Role
This freelance, part time role offers flexible, remote working, with occasional requirement for attendance at in person meetings. Job description

The National Flood Forum is partnering Rochdale Borough Council to deliver one of 25 national projects comprising Defra’s Flood and Coastal Resilience and Innovation Programme (FCRIP) which is managed by the Environment Agency and runs until March 2027. The programme aims to test and create new, innovative approaches to flood and coastal resilience that can be adapted and rolled out more widely as good practice and new ways of delivering positive change.

Our project centres on two frequently flood affected and vulnerable neighbourhoods in the Roch Valley in Rochdale district The communities are complex and include a high incidence of social, economic and environmental disadvantage. It aims to develop a more holistic approach to flood and climate resilience with better management of residual flood risks through new, innovative cross-sectoral approaches that also address climate justice and both flood and fuel poverty. The project will deliver a step change in flood literacy and community participation, increase peoples’ capabilities to respond to flooding, improve flood and climate resilience of ageing housing stock, enhance surface water management, neighbourhood water conservation, natural flood risk management and local green infrastructure and develop better financial resilience for homes and businesses.

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Grants Officer to support and develop innovative and impactful grant-making programmes, helping to end youth homelessness across the UK.

This is a remote working role with occasional travel into our offices in London (all expenses covered).

Position: Senior Grants Officer

Salary: £33,000–£36,000 pro rata

About the Role
This role is central to the delivery of the charities mission to end youth homelessness. You’ll help to manage grant-making programmes, develop more efficient systems, and build strong relationships with charity partners, while supporting innovation and promoting impact.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the full grant cycle – from application to reporting – across multiple programmes.
• Streamlining processes and supporting the integration of systems such as Salesforce.
• Managing the grants inbox and acting as the first point of contact for charity partners.
• Coordinating charity relationships, ensuring compliance and capturing impact stories.
• Leading specific programmes in partnerships and Employability Programmes.
• Collaborating with teams across fundraising, comms, and strategy to maximise the value of every grant.
• Writing reports for internal committees and contributing to external communications.

About You
You will be highly organised, analytical, and confident working across systems and teams. With strong communication and administration skills, you'll thrive in a role that demands both rigour and empathy.

We are looking for someone with:

• Experience of administering complex processes or programmes within the charity or housing sectors.
• Strong understanding of CRM systems (Salesforce desirable) and data management.
• An eye for detail, excellent time management, and experience juggling multiple priorities.
• Experience working with stakeholders, assessing applications, and reporting against outcomes.
• A collaborative and curious mindset, and a genuine commitment to ending youth homelessness.

Working with local communities and partners, you will help generate the learning and evidence required to fulfil the national change strategy through the delivery, development and testing of effective and evidence-informed practice.

The Senior Bid and Funding Officer is a new role for Involve as we seek to build the infrastructure to support the growth that we have experienced in recent years.  This role will sit within our Finance & Support Services function and will work alongside colleagues at all levels in the Innovation & Practice, Capacity Building & Standards and Advocacy & Communications functions to identify and provide compelling proposals in response to fundraising and tender opportunities. 

As Senior Bid and Funding Officer you will be responsible for identifying fundraising opportunities to bring forwards to the team for evaluation and coordinating the submission of returns ensuring high quality tenders are produced that meet the needs of funders and commissioners.  You will support function leads in monitoring fundraising outcomes and comparing to income generation targets, developing a database of funders and improving tender response processes to reduce the administrative burden of tender responses without compromising on quality.

Our ideal candidate will have experience of managing the tender return process in other organisations, either in a commercial or charitable sector environment. We’re a Scottish registered charity dedicated to improving awareness and education around blood donation - especially among young people. By working with schools, universities and community groups, we’re breaking down misconceptions and fear that can be associat4ed with the process, and encouraging people to give blood as soon as they're eligible at 17.

You’ll lead the expansion of our Young Ambassador Programme — a digital e-learning initiative designed to empower students to become informed, confident blood donation ambassadors.
