What you’ll be doing? 

The Minorities Community Gambling Link Worker will deliver an awareness-raising and personalised, holistic support programme for minority community groups in Lambeth experiencing gambling and gambling addiction-related harm, or those impacted by the gambling of a close family member. You will:

• Deliver an outreach programme by regularly attending community events, visiting local groups/ spaces and organisations frequented by minority community groups in Lambeth.

• Develop partnerships and deliver outreach support to primary and secondary care partners and services across Lambeth.

• Speak with minority community groups in Lambeth, either 1-2-1 or presenting to groups, to discuss the type of support available and promote the work and support of the Primary Care Gambling Service and Age UK Lambeth services. 

• Provide holistic support to patients referred to the Primary Care Gambling Service, helping to address housing, debt, bereavement, loneliness, mental health and other related social issues, that are both a symptom and/or a cause of their gambling.

• Meet clients on a one-to-one basis, making home visits where appropriate and allowing clients the time and space to discuss ‘what matters to me’.

The Healthy Ageing Project will address specific challenges within the community, while actively promoting healthy ageing in practical and effective ways across our network.

We will focus on the strengths and expertise of our member groups to promote engagement with Ireland's unique music, dance, sport, language and culture.

We will work together with our members throughout this three-year journey. Together, we will develop, launch and promote a project geared towards improving health and wellbeing, reducing health inequality and providing strategic direction for national health programmes and policy recommendations for the Irish community.

This post is part time (17.5 hours per week) and will be based in the North of England, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester etc.

Working under the direction of Academic Representation Manager, you will coordinate and develop a Course Rep scheme that accurately and legitimately represents Manchester Met students and creates positive change and supervise and support the Faculty Organisers throughout the year in supporting course reps and the work of other union departments within faculties.

• You will lead on the course rep recruitment plan and training, including the delivery of the lead volunteer program, maintaining a partnership approach to delivering the Course Rep scheme, through positive relationships with university stakeholders and Union colleagues.
• You will organise and deliver events and workshops for Course Reps around particularly issues identified as relevant to their academic community and support the Academic Representation Manager with any projects, consultations or research into the academic experience at MMU.

Alzheimer’s Society secured grant funding from the Shared Prosperity Fund to deliver community development in Swindon; as part of this you will promote Dementia awareness with a specific aim to reduce inequalities and reach those with protected characteristics, or people experiencing multiple deprivations. In addition, you will work with those individuals experiencing and/or at risk of other health inequalities.

Summary of the role and key purpose 

We’re looking for a Communications Coordinator to play a key role in supporting, delivering and monitoring RABI's communications and marketing activities. Working as part of RABI's growing communications team, the Communications Coordinator will take an active role in both communications and marketing across the organisation, providing support in areas including internal comms, social media, website development, email marketing, brand usage, advertising, media relations, public affairs, reporting and finance. 

With support and oversight from the Communications Manager, this is an exciting role for a comms and marketing professional looking to further develop a wide range of communication skills and be part of a vibrant and ambitious communications team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop content for various RABI communication channels including newsletters, intranet and website.
• Assist the Communications Manager in building and maintaining relationships with media contacts.
• Support with the production of RABI News including collating content, proofreading and managing all mailing lists, both digital and postal. 
• Help to create visually appealing and shareable content for RABI’s social media platforms.
• Support the Digital Communications Manager with monitoring RABI’s social media channels.
• Assist in the development and delivery of internal communication materials and announcements.
• Work closely with the Communications Manager, the Finance department and Senior Leadership Team to plan and generate content for the Trustee Annual Report.
• Assist the Multimedia Producer with photography and filming projects where required.

Bexley Food Alliance Project Coordinator

The Bexley Food Alliance is a new network which was funded by the GLA to work towards taking pressure off the emergency food aid services and providing increased financial support to Bexley residents. This network has now expanded and aims to build a collaborative network of agencies that can increase fairer access to healthy, nutritious and culturally appropriate food, as well as any additional support residents might need. We are looking for a Project Coordinator to take over the day-to-day running of this network (see below for a brief description). This is a good opportunity for anyone who wants to take on a part-time, one-year project, perhaps as a stepping stone into something more significant, or perhaps you’re returning to work or changing careers. This is an opportunity to be at the start of an exciting, innovative partnership project, shaping a network and forming strong alliances with various agencies. 

You will work closely with the VCS within Bexley to build the capacity and capabilities of local groups, provide partnership/networking opportunities that enable them to carry out their own objectives effectively and offer high quality services.

You will work flexibly, applying initiative to provide consistent and seamless support to organisations.  You will support across a variety of charity development but focus on food partnerships and wraparound support to provide more holistic support.

Key Duties:

• Build and promote positive working relationships between VCS groups and organisations, statutory partners, commissioners and funders.
• Work with a wide range of delivery partners and other key stakeholders to maximise the use of community resources and ensure opportunities are maximised.
• Undertake community and outreach work – particularly to parts of the borough where the VCS voice is less heard.
• Encourage and support groups to seek funding from a range of sources including contracts and grants and provide the necessary support.
• Use our database to keep well maintained records of support given, funding achieved as a result of our support, case studies and outcomes, brief summary reports for monitoring and development purposes.
• To continuously engage in a mapping process, highlighting existing providers and supporting the start-up of new services.
• To organise and facilitate network meetings bringing organisations together to tackle food poverty and offer increased support with additional needs such as financial, physical and mental health wellbeing.
• To build relationships with various organisations, offering diverse support to increase collaboration, new offers and increased support.
• To work closely with the Local Authority to support policy change.
• To build relationships and network outside of the borough to bring in good practice and successful initiatives.
• To attend any relevant training and/or workshops that support the development of the network.
• To increase knowledge and understanding of food poverty and the cost-of-living crisis in general as well as grants and funding opportunities.

• Identify, report, and monitor any safeguarding concerns in accordance with the latest local procedures relating to the appropriate service.

These are the normal duties which are required of the position; however, we do require that all staff be flexible and may be required to perform other duties to ensure the efficient running of services. 

Please note that the base for this role is split between the Engine House, Bexley, and Bexley Civic Offices. In addition, the post will involve occasional working from various venues across the borough.

Salary: £35,745-£38,223 per annum

NJC Grade:PO1 SP 27-30

Hours: 36 hours per week (Monday to Friday, occasional evening and weekend work may be required)

Length of contract: 12 months fixed term

Location: Hybrid working – work from home and at one of our office bases (Oldham, Rochdale or Tameside)

Make a difference

This is an exciting opportunity to join our new service supporting Unpaid Carers across Lewisham to improve their health and wellbeing, and access support that meets their needs.

The team works with unpaid Adult Carers, Young Adult Carers and Young Carers, completing statutory and holistic assessments to understand people’s individual circumstances and level of need. You will carry out home visits and community meetings, co-produce support plans, and develop effective relationships with Unpaid Carers, families, and professionals.  

You’ll build on your local knowledge to signpost and facilitate access for Unpaid Carers to support services, including financial and benefit advice, housing, health and safety home systems, and leisure and social activities. You will also support the development of escalation plans so that Unpaid Carers are prepared for unforeseen circumstances that would impact negatively on ability to care.

Applicants should have relevant personal or professional experience of working with Unpaid Carers and/or vulnerable adults or children in a social care, health, education or voluntary and community sector. You’ll need a practical understanding of barriers faced by Unpaid Carers, and an awareness of cultural differences and access to services. Experience of working in mental health or dementia services would be an advantage.

You should be an excellent communicator and able to motivate and empower others. This is a full-time role.

Circles Coordinator, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire (with flex to work in Avon)

As a Circles Coordinator you will make a real difference to preventing sexual abuse and sexual violence. This varied and rewarding role means working with people who have sexually harmed, a team of local volunteers and public protection colleagues. Join our dedicated regional team of 12 staff and 180 volunteers working towards the vision of ‘No More Victims’ of sexual abuse.

About Circles South West

We are an award winning independent charity providing services that prevent sexual re-offending by people who have sexually harmed, as well as support services for non-offending partners, family and friends impacted.  Our core service is Circles of Support and Accountability; a ‘Circle’ is a small group of local volunteers who assist the safe integration of an individual who has sexually harmed, meeting with them over a year or more. Working closely with responsible statutory agencies we provide a complementary risk management approach, making communities safer. Informed by our practice expertise, our training and consultancy for professionals is designed to enhance skills, knowledge and understanding in order that they can more effectively engage with people who sexually harm and contribute more widely to the prevention of sexual abuse.

About You

With experience of working with adults convicted of sexual offences, you understand how local communities can support risk management and be committed to the safe integration in the community of people who have sexually harmed. You will be skilled in the management and support of volunteers, the critical success factor for Circles. You will assess referrals, coordinate Circles, review progress and share relevant information with police and probation.
