The Healthy Ageing Project will address specific challenges within the community, while actively promoting healthy ageing in practical and effective ways across our network.

We will focus on the strengths and expertise of our member groups to promote engagement with Ireland's unique music, dance, sport, language and culture.

We will work together with our members throughout this three-year journey. Together, we will develop, launch and promote a project geared towards improving health and wellbeing, reducing health inequality and providing strategic direction for national health programmes and policy recommendations for the Irish community.

This post is part time (17.5 hours per week) and will be based in the North of England, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester etc.

This role is an exciting opportunity to help support the mission of the charity through a programme of income-generating corporate cooking teambuilding challenges. We have been running these successfully for several years and are now looking to replicate the model outside London, starting with a pilot in central Birmingham.

You will facilitate and run our Food Invention Challenges in a kitchen facility in central Birmingham, collaborating with corporate teams, local stakeholders and the venue.

We are seeking a people-oriented person with great communication skills, who is looking for a flexible role that has the potential to grow. If you have a love of food, strong organisational skills and enjoy creating fun and engaging teambuilding sessions, then this is the role for you!

About the role

As a Lived Experience Coordinator, you’ll deliver a programme of involvement activities with the aim of ensuring the views and experiences of individuals with lived experience of bad housing or homelessness informs all of Shelter’s work. We’ll also rely on you to deliver involvement activities across the organisation which will shape the ongoing design, delivery and governance of our work. People with lived experience will be involved in a range of ways too, including involvement groups, taking part in events within local communities, co-designing services and campaigns, sharing stories and speaking out about the housing emergency. The overriding aim is to work closely alongside people with lived experience to influence and steer the direction of Shelter’s work, so that lived experience informs everything we do.

About you

To succeed, you’ll need the ability to facilitate involvement groups and other activities to involve people with lived experience in Shelter’s work while ensuring a safe and inclusive space where everybody can contribute. The ability to plan and co-ordinate involvement activities with local teams, with several activities running during the same time period, is important too, as is a flair for developing successful relationships with colleagues across a large organisation, as well as with local organisations and partners. Some experience of presenting information verbally and in writing is also required, as is proficiency using IT tools to carry out your day-to-day work, including case management systems, Microsoft Office, internet, email and online meetings.

NHS England recently announced a new transformation fund to be allocated to pilot sites within 12 Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships/Integrated Care Systems across the country to test new and integrated models of primary and community mental health care. The role of Community Connector is fundamental to the developing of these innovative new teams and mental health services based within networks of GP Practices (Primary Care Networks). Indeed, whoever takes on this particular challenge will be instrumental in supporting the ongoing development and mobilisation of integrated primary care mental health services in the future. Along the way, you’ll work jointly with a Mental Health Practitioner to conduct assessments. We’ll also rely on you to help patients identify their socially determined needs and goals, provide self-management tools, and develop personal support plans. Delivering a range of motivational and structured psycho-social interventions, promoting independence through an enabling asset based approach and developing effective relationships with a range of agencies to facilitate a ‘joined up’ approach - these are just some aspects of this vital role.

As well as proven relevant experience, you’ll need an appropriate diploma or degree i.e., in counselling, psychology, social work, probation, mental health, Health and Social Care (level 3), NVQ’s level 3+ and/or community experience of drug, alcohol, mental health work. You’ll also need the ability to work co-operatively and flexible as part of a multidisciplinary team from a service hub in one of three locations and be willing to travel to and from a number of different locations on a daily basis. Comfortable working to the confidentiality, consent, information sharing and safeguarding policies of the integrated service, the ability to manage any challenging behaviour, anger and verbal aggression from patients is important too. And, it goes without saying that you have excellent communication skills and are proficient in the use of office IT.

About the Role

Community Connectors work as part of an integrated, blended mental health offer to support people with emotional, social and practical needs to access a range of local, non-medical and non-clinical services, to improve confidence, social inclusion and independence.

This role will involve working as part of a multi-disciplinary team with statutory, third sector and NHS colleagues to support clients who are suffering from moderate to severe mental health difficulties. You will need to have experience working with those suffering with mental health illness as well as being able to demonstrate in depth knowledge of the services, support networks and local resources that may assist in improved outcomes for those dealing with complex and enduring mental health issues. The ability to be adaptable, work independently and the resilience to work in some challenging environments are key attributes for this role.

Service Delivery

• Assess suitability for community connection support as part of a blended team approach and support individuals to access the service by utilising in depth knowledge of local voluntary and community services and networks in your respective area
• To work with individuals to coproduce a plan to address their mental health and wellbeing goals. Am enable people to achieve these goals through facilitating access and connecting with appropriate resources

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Regional Casework Coordinator to join the Northwest Region at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

You will be part of the regional office team who are the first point of contact to all beneficiaries into the Regional Office. You will be assisting with sometimes complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlining needs to determine the best way to support the beneficiary, either by beginning a casework referral, referring to another service within SSAFA or making an external referral to organisations better able to offer support. You will also have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensure that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service. At all times you will adhere to the safeguarding, confidentiality, and data-protection policies, including escalation to emergency services for clients where there are immediate areas of concern.

To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA and will influence the processes and procedures within the office, working closely with the Regional Casework Manager and Regional Operations Manager.

The post is home-based, but you may have to travel occasionally around the Northwest Region of England.

About the team

In this new role you will be working closely with volunteers from the six SSAFA branches in the Northwest, supporting them to administer casework for SSAFA beneficiaries. The successful candidate will work as part of a larger support team which will include a Casework Manager and a Regional Operational Manager.

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of providing welfare advice in key areas such as, housing benefits, debt, disability, mobility or immigration issues. You will have knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR, along with experience in dealing with sensitive information and people in vulnerable situations. You will be able to provide excellent customer service by telephone, e-mail and face to face. You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.

It would be advantageous if you have an understanding of the way of life for today’s Armed Forces, veterans and their families, along with supporting volunteers. An understanding of the voluntary sector and preferably the military charity sector landscape across the North West.

We provide information, advice, practical support, befriending and accessible activities to our clients and families.

We are working with the SWL ICB and local GPs to deliver an exciting new service within Hampton North. The Community Health and Wellbeing Worker will speak to households about health and wellbeing, alongside offering support to connect people to services and activities in their local community. • Managing a caseload of households, providing monthly home visits and providing a continuous point of contact for all members of the household.

• Engaging with community organisations and specialist services that provide support to ease the pathway for your clients.
• Building and maintaining relationships with primary care networks, GPs, health care professionals and services across the borough.

Bexley Food Alliance Project Coordinator

The Bexley Food Alliance is a new network which was funded by the GLA to work towards taking pressure off the emergency food aid services and providing increased financial support to Bexley residents. This network has now expanded and aims to build a collaborative network of agencies that can increase fairer access to healthy, nutritious and culturally appropriate food, as well as any additional support residents might need. We are looking for a Project Coordinator to take over the day-to-day running of this network (see below for a brief description). This is a good opportunity for anyone who wants to take on a part-time, one-year project, perhaps as a stepping stone into something more significant, or perhaps you’re returning to work or changing careers. This is an opportunity to be at the start of an exciting, innovative partnership project, shaping a network and forming strong alliances with various agencies. 

You will work closely with the VCS within Bexley to build the capacity and capabilities of local groups, provide partnership/networking opportunities that enable them to carry out their own objectives effectively and offer high quality services.

You will work flexibly, applying initiative to provide consistent and seamless support to organisations.  You will support across a variety of charity development but focus on food partnerships and wraparound support to provide more holistic support.

Key Duties:

• Build and promote positive working relationships between VCS groups and organisations, statutory partners, commissioners and funders.
• Work with a wide range of delivery partners and other key stakeholders to maximise the use of community resources and ensure opportunities are maximised.
• Undertake community and outreach work – particularly to parts of the borough where the VCS voice is less heard.
• Encourage and support groups to seek funding from a range of sources including contracts and grants and provide the necessary support.
• Use our database to keep well maintained records of support given, funding achieved as a result of our support, case studies and outcomes, brief summary reports for monitoring and development purposes.
• To continuously engage in a mapping process, highlighting existing providers and supporting the start-up of new services.
• To organise and facilitate network meetings bringing organisations together to tackle food poverty and offer increased support with additional needs such as financial, physical and mental health wellbeing.
• To build relationships with various organisations, offering diverse support to increase collaboration, new offers and increased support.
• To work closely with the Local Authority to support policy change.
• To build relationships and network outside of the borough to bring in good practice and successful initiatives.
• To attend any relevant training and/or workshops that support the development of the network.
• To increase knowledge and understanding of food poverty and the cost-of-living crisis in general as well as grants and funding opportunities.
• Attend staff meetings, and training as required.
• Identify, report, and monitor any safeguarding concerns in accordance with the latest local procedures relating to the appropriate service.
• To support and work closely with all the teams within BVSC.
•  To comply with, and share responsibility for ensuring the implementation of, BVSC policies and procedures and key legislation such as GDPR and Safeguarding.
• Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be assigned from time to time including travel throughout the borough to attend events, occasionally on evenings/weekends, meet with volunteers and organisations.

These are the normal duties which are required of the position; however, we do require that all staff be flexible and may be required to perform other duties to ensure the efficient running of services. 

Please note that the base for this role is split between the Engine House, Bexley, and Bexley Civic Offices. In addition, the post will involve occasional working from various venues across the borough.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Excellent interpersonal skills:

• excellent written and verbal communications skills with proven success in influencing and negotiating at all levels

Development experience:

Experience and knowledge:

An average day as Bexley Food Alliance Project Coordinator is below. Your Line Manager will support your development throughout the process.

• Continue to develop relationships with the voluntary sector and local organisations to find out more about what services they currently offer, if they have scope/capacity to expand their offer and what support they might need.
• Encourage and support collaborative projects between organisations within Bexley.
• Research and keep up to date with current developments, grants and opportunities for voluntary organisations and charities relevant to Bexley.
•  Network with various organisations offering support, learning opportunities and guidance in running the network.
• Continue to work on an agenda for regular, local networking sessions which you would facilitate (with support if needed).
•  Engage with and attend all relevant training offered by GLA as part of the Food Roots 2 Programme as well as any other relevant training.
• Familiarise yourself with services in Bexley and the current needs of local residents and the voluntary sector.

We are looking for a Creative Expression Coordinator to line manage and support the delivery of Creative Expression programmes including Arts & Crafts, Music, Creative Expression and our newest provision of drama. You will work with the Independent Living Skills and Creative Programmes Manager to ensure we deliver a creative programme that maximises our students' potential, makes the best use of local partnerships, enables students to develop their creativity and increases wellbeing and communication skills.

We provide a range of programmes helping adults with learning disabilities, autism and other support needs become more happy, healthy, and independent. Main responsibilities 

• You’ll manage the delivery of our creative programmes at various locations looking to ensure they are delivered to the highest standard
• You will ensure all sessions are inclusive challenge students, and where possible, use digital technology and learning outside of Share to embed skills 
• You will line manage the Creative Expression Tutors supporting them in developing project objectives, conducting one-to-one and appraisal meetings and reviewing and agree project resourcing 
• You’ll monitor the quality and impact of the creative programmes, their outcomes and delivery

• You have experience in coordinating, planning and delivering sessions for adults that enable people to acquire new skills, both social and practical
