Birth Companions is a charity that supports women experiencing multiple disadvantage during the perinatal period in the community in London and the southeast, and in prisons across the country.

Based on these insights, we commission academic and peer-led research and direct the attention of local and national policy-makers, commissioners and service providers to what needs to change, and how. Everyone at Birth Companions plays a role in this. Communication and collaboration between our frontline practitioners, policy and engagement staff and the women in our Lived Experience Team means we are able to identify and monitor issues and themes and draw on learning in order to feed them into conversations with senior stakeholders across maternity, criminal justice, social services and immigration. In this way we ensure our policy and influencing work is rooted in the day-to-day experiences of women and what will make most difference to them and their babies.
The Criminal Justice Services Manager will manage and develop all aspects of Birth Companions’ criminal justice-based services and line-manage the criminal justice services Coordinators, (currently three staff members but this likely to increase as we expand our services).
They will develop and maintain strategic partnerships with other relevant agencies and ensure the successful delivery of services through internal monitoring and evaluation, external evaluation and the charity’s governance structures.
The Criminal Justice Services Manager will be responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of new prison and wider criminal justice system-based services through stakeholder engagement and service design where opportunities are identified.
The Criminal Justice Services Manager will also contribute to the policy, engagement and strategic work of the organisation where appropriate.

Internal Collaboration: Working closely with our Families team, Finance Team, Comms Team and Fundraising Team to identify funding needs, gather powerful impact data, and ensure seamless delivery and awareness of all grant-funded activities. We work to weekly transparent Success Measures (3 key agreed metrics which help show we’ve had a great week and give leading and lagging indicators on how we’re doing), monthly and quarterly budget targets and short, daily and weekly team huddles to share good news, keep our culture forefront and ensure we can best support each other and deliver for the charity.

Onboarding & Immersion: Dive deep and achieve a comprehensive understanding of Scotty’s operating system (The Scotty’s OS), our values, our behaviours, our mission, and the significant impact we have. This will happen through intro meetings with everyone on the team and a tailored onboarding program.

Grant Portfolio Audit & Handover: Conduct an audit of our existing grant portfolio, reviewing active grants, reporting schedules, and our funder relationships. We'll begin the handover process for existing relationships with the Head of Fundraising, ensuring a smooth transition.

About the role:

We require highly skilled and motivated practitioners to work as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team providing high quality, specialist evidence-based treatment to Veterans. The Events & Fundraising Manager will work at the heart of our public events programme, helping to organise fundraising walks and other events across London and the South East, and raising funds to support the provision of free legal advice. About the role

World Jewish Relief created the Specialist Training and Employment Programme (STEP) for refugees in 2016 and today we are the largest provider of specialist employment support to people who have experienced forced migration in the UK.STEP aims to support and empower people through a tailored employment programme that addresses the complex barriers that they face when preparing for and ultimately finding work in the UK.
We support all people who have experienced forced migration, regardless of their proximity to the labour market, to develop the skills and access the opportunities they need to secure sustainable and meaningful employment. We run STEP online and in person programmes across the UK.
We are now expanding our work to deliver (in partnership with the British Council) an English Language and Employment Support Programme for up to 4,000 Ukrainians and Hong Kong BNO status/visa holder (50% of each community) over the next 12 months.

The Newham Domestic and Sexual Violence Support Service is a community-based initiative offering integrated support to individuals who have experienced domestic abuse, sexual violence, forced marriage, honour-based violence, female genital mutilation, or violence related to sex work. Delivered in partnership with local agencies, the service uses approaches such as casework, Independent Domestic and Sexual Violence Advocacy (IDSVA), and Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) to provide holistic, person-centred care. Its aim is to not only assist survivors directly but also to raise awareness within the community about domestic and sexual violence and the support available.
The role involves delivering tailored support through safety planning, risk and needs assessments, and one-to-one sessions, empowering survivors to make informed decisions and develop independent living skills. It requires working closely with multiple agencies to meet needs effectively, building strong relationships with community and statutory organisations, and contributing to good practice and policy development. Service user involvement is promoted through events, networking, fundraising, and consultations, while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to safeguarding policies at all times.

- Proactively engaging with vulnerable and isolated families and carry out home visits, as required
- Developing good relationships with health visitors and liaising with other agencies regarding the needs of parents and carers
- Having a community language such as Arabic or Bengali is desirable but not essential.
We are looking for someone who has experience of community and outreach work with diverse communities in an inner-city environment. This will include experience of a wide range of methods/techniques to reach out and engage with isolated individuals/communities and assessing family needs. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, along with the ability to empathise with parents and carers are required. A non-judgmental approach is essential. The ability to network is also important.
