HR Advisor - Job Description
Advisory
- Provide advice to line managers on employee relations (ER) issues e.g. policies, performance management, end-to-end absence management including return to work meetings, reporting and occupational health referrals etc. Able to resolve complex employee relation issues and conduct investigations where necessary.
- Provide advice to managers across all policy and practice areas, for example on family friendly policies such as maternity, paternity, shared parental leave, carers leave, etc.
- Support the maintenance of existing policy documentation and make changes where applicable
- Proactively take responsibility for the adherence and implementation of HR policies
- Support line managers in the management of employees in probation, and where necessary extension cases
- Support line managers in performance management practices, objective setting and performance improvement plans (PIPs)
HR Analytics
- Report on HR analytics monthly and quarterly for the HR Manager, for example on headcount, sickness, recruitment analytics, staff turnover and remuneration reports.
Benefits and Payroll
- Support the HR Manager with reward strategies and implementation
- Prepare payroll changes each month for HR Manager sign off
- Assist the HR Manager with annual benchmark surveys
- Support the HR Manager in liaison with benefit providers
Talent Acquisition and onboarding
- Work with the HR team for efficient and accurate end-to-end recruitment in all areas across the Diocese.
- Work in liaison with the HR Administrator to coordinate and execute the Diocese recruitment processes to include working with recruitment agencies, posting job adverts, liaising with line managers for shortlisting, offers of employment to suitable candidates, and onboarding.
- Ensuring the new joiner inductions are organised and all documentation has been received and checked.
- In the absence of HR Administrator, produce and issue relevant documentation following promotions, job title changes, salary increases and ensure that HR records are updated accordingly by the HR administrator.
Learning & Development
- Identify learning needs and appropriate methods of meeting needs in the most cost-effective way.
- Support the HR Manager in the delivery of training as required, including annual conferences and line manager training.
- Ensures training requirements are met to fulfil and maintain health and safety requirements such as First Aid and Fire Safety.
- Ensures that refresher training is completed for existing employees in data protection, cyber security, health and safety, and EDI.
- Be a trusted advisor and coach to line managers on people related issues.
- Ensure all documentation is completed by employees who are supported in their further training and education by the Diocese, including a Further Education Support Agreement.
General
- Regular review of data integrity and updates to the HRIS including regular audits.
- Support the HR Manager to drive workforce planning, talent acquisition, and retention strategies
- Deal with queries from the HR inbox to ensure effective and prompt responses
- Involvement in HR projects and new initiatives as required
- Updating of HR intranet pages.

Job Title: Individual Giving Manager
• Department: Fundraising

1. Purpose of the Role
• Working with the Head of Fundraising develop programmes for the recruitment and retention of individual supporters.

The Generous Giving Manager is a very exciting and influential role at the Diocese, as you will build on the strong and energetic foundations within our two-person Generous Giving Team to strengthen the financial sustainability of local churches by encouraging generosity in time, talents and financial giving.
Working closely with deaneries, parishes and their leadership teams, you will identify local challenges and opportunities for generous giving, sharing innovative giving practices to help parishes and deaneries develop creative and effective ways to resource their mission.
Communicating clearly and inspiringly the principles of Christian giving to diverse audiences, you will keep up to date with National Church resources, promoting and supporting a wide range of giving methods such as the Parish Giving Scheme (PGS), online and contactless giving. You will also offer guidance to parish officers for resources on giving campaigns, legacies and grant funding.
This is an ideal role for someone with a good understanding of church life, a passion for helping local churches thrive, a strong commitment to community engagement and an understanding of generosity grounded in Christian teaching.
With demonstrable experience in fundraising or parish ministry, you should bring an awareness of the financial and missional challenges facing churches today, particularly in rural contexts.
With an understanding of the Church of England’s structures, ethos, and range of traditions, you will have the proven ability to plan, advise on and lead giving or fundraising programmes in a not-for-profit or charitable context. You should also have a clear understanding of the teaching which underpins the Christian principles of giving.
Your motivational and collaborative approach across a variety of settings, combined with your outstanding interpersonal skills and natural ability at rapport building will ensure you are able to generate and develop creative, solution-focused ideas, engaging and inspiring individuals and groups, both in person and online.
Typically, you will operate during office hours but will need to adjust your working pattern in order to meet with parishes in the evenings and/or occasionally attend their Sunday worship, so the ability to travel to remote locations and work flexibly is a necessity.

About the Role
As Community Support Lead: Development & Onboarding, you will lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of the Hosted Partner (HP) journey — from first contact to successful onboarding and integration into HOST’s global community.

1. Hosted Partner Onboarding and Development

As Fundraising Officer - Events & Community, you'll play a key role in the fundraising team to deliver annual income targets through our third party and challenge events, delivering exceptional stewardship to participants and being able to deliver excellent financial reporting and administration. As a senior member of Hestia's operations team, your role is pivotal in ensuring the effective delivery of the organisation's strategic objectives. As a leader, you will provide clear direction and support to local service managers, fostering a high-performing team culture. You'll ensure managers are equipped with up-to-date knowledge and best practices, and that staff development needs are met through structured induction and training.
Performance management is integral, with expectations and standards clearly communicated and supported through coaching and supervision. You will model person-centred, recovery-focused approaches and ensure staff are regularly supervised and performance is reviewed. Recruitment must be proactive and aligned with funding contracts, in collaboration with HR and service users. Service quality is paramount. You will ensure service users' needs and aspirations are accurately assessed and that they have a voice in shaping service delivery. You'll promote service user involvement and co-production, working closely with relevant teams to embed these principles.
Financial oversight includes setting annual budgets with the Directorate and Finance teams, ensuring efficient use of resources and high standards in financial and administrative processes. You will implement recommendations from safeguarding reviews and maintain accreditation standards for domestic abuse services. Housing management responsibilities include ensuring compliance with operational policies, managing rental income, voids, arrears, and maintenance. Health and safety audits and risk assessments must be conducted within organisational timeframes. You'll liaise with partners on tenancy matters and ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting. Finally, you will maintain strong communication through regular meetings with managers, ensuring alignment and accountability across all areas of responsibility.

The ability to transform underperforming services and support staff through robust improvement plans is essential. The candidate should have extensive knowledge of supporting women and children affected by all forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG). They must be capable of managing diverse teams with varied skill sets and working independently within policy frameworks.
Strong communication skills are required, along with a high level of financial and commercial acumen. The candidate should possess a working knowledge of the legal framework for protecting vulnerable adults and children and understand the importance of outcome-focused service delivery.
