The Partnerships Manager will manage a portfolio of commercial and fundraising accounts totalling c.£250k, as well as some new business development. The portfolio includes a £60k per annum CRM relationship with Plum & Ashby, focused around the Wave of Light candle campaign for Baby Loss Awareness week, with lots of influencer and comms engagement. The new business element will support the Senior Partnerships Manager and the Head of Corporate in their new strategy for increased brand, strategic and coty partnerships.

What the job involves

We’re looking an Events and Community Fundraising Coordinator to join our high performing Events and Community Team. The team are driven to maximise opportunities, we aim to reach ambitious targets and provide an excellent supporter experience.

Our team raise funds through a range of activities including:

• Our own events (e.g. March for Men)
• Virtual products (e.g. The Month Series)
• Third party events (e.g. London Marathon)
• Golf Days
• Helping community fundraisers who organise their own activity

You’ll be supporting our third-party events programme and be our first point of contact for our fundraisers. You'll provide admin support for our registration processes and support fundraisers through telephone, email, and social media channels. You’ll build and manage relationships with existing and new supporters. From registration to the end of their supporter journey you'll help motivate during challenges, offer fundraising advice and ensure thanks at the end of a first-class experience.

Whilst third party events will be your primary area of responsibility across different types of events, you’ll also get the chance to work across teams to provide support where needed during busy periods of activity.

This role works with data through maintaining our Raiser’s Edge database. You'll also update records on JustGiving and Enthuse. This requires accuracy and working under the requirements of GDPR.

You’ll also work with our Communications teams supports the planning and delivery of our activity. You'll help engage with our digital adverts and identify compelling supporter stories. This helps to raise the profile of our fundraising products, as well as prostate cancer and Prostate Cancer UK.

The successful candidate will need to be a detail orientated, solution focused, project manager with expert knowledge in fundraising and data protection regulations. As our Fundraising Compliance Manager, you will be the focal point for compliance, providing guidance and advice to colleagues ensuring that we have sufficient controls and processes in place across all areas of fundraising. In addition, you will provide comprehensive front line and administrative support, to facilitate best practice across Fundraising/Charity regulation and the General Data Protection Regulation and help embed this in our ways of working. You will produce and deliver training and supporting documents to upskill staff and to ensure consistency across the team, as well as identifying areas for improvement and development. You will keep your knowledge up-to-date and will be confident in communicating with staff at all levels and with varying levels of understanding; in an engaging and accessible manner.

Key Responsibilities

Overarching responsibilities

• To oversee and be the main port of call for all compliance, data protection and gift administration queries in respect of fundraising.

Gift Administration and Implementation

• Support our fundraising colleagues to maximise their income and engage with supporters in a compliant way
• Triage and respond to gift administration and compliance queries and requests within defined service level times
• Produce and keep updated, relevant guidance, tools and resources for colleagues across the fundraising function
• Develop new strategies to provide the best support for our fundraisers and work to build new and lasting relationships with key stakeholders

Fundraising compliance and data protection

• To evaluate and apply the Data Protection principles to variable and challenging scenarios, supporting colleagues to find solutions to their problems within the limits of the law.
• Ensuring we are aware of and reacting to any fundraising and data protection regulations changes. Regulations include GDPR/UK Data Protection Act 2021, Fundraising Regulator's Code of Fundraising Practice, Charity Commission guidelines, BACS, and PCI DSS Compliance. HMRC Gift aid guidelines.
• Recognise that a change in procedure or legislation external to the Foundation has implications and who needs to be notified of the changes.
• Produce and continually monitor our operational policies; modelling best practices against the Fundraising Regulator's Code of Fundraising Practice
• Responsible for reviewing all fundraising contracts and third-party agreements for data capture to ensure they are in line with all compliance regulations, ensuring our supporter data is adequately protected, any new fundraising processes and procedures are compliant, and fulfilling the operational commitments associated. Suggest and negotiate amendments, and if the necessary compliance clauses cannot be met then decline authorisation to work with that third party.
• Assess data risks and complete Data Protection Impact Assessments where required, being prepared to work with colleagues to pull together the relevant information and present to the data protection lead for sign off. ·

Leadership

• Where necessary, be prepared to make pragmatic decisions on where we should be focusing resources.
• To develop a programme of training and guidelines to cover complicated rules and processes in a concise and accessible manner. To identify and address where the knowledge gaps exist.

Community Fundraising Manager

The Mencap Community and Events Team has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated and passionate fundraiser,  dedicated to raising as much funds as possible to help make the UK the best place to live for people with a learning disability to join our team as Senior Community Fundraising Manager covering England and Wales.

Covering the England and Wales the Community Fundraising Manager will be responsible for managing various income streams across the Community portfolio working closely with the wider team.

Within this role, you will achieve agreed fundraising targets through effective management, support and cultivation of both existing and new regional supporters including: individuals, groups, associations, local corporates and schools whilst maximising the current portfolio of Mencap owned products. The role is home based. There will be travel around the areas that the role covers.

About the opportunity

We are looking for a Fundraising Manager to work within our passionate Philanthropy Team to help grow our fundraised income and develop and maintain an effective, high-quality funding pipeline. Duties and responsibilities

· Act as a system manager for fundraising platforms, databases and tools including Just Giving and the Giving Block, with support from Fundraising Coordinators.
 

· Oversee the development of the fundraising area of the website and fundraising pack to attract new funders and fundraisers to the charity, with support from the Fundraising Coordinators.
 

· Manage the Fundraising Coordinators, ensuring they are growing and developing, and that work load is shared fairly.

This role requires an ambitious, passionate and determined individual with outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Alongside your team you will be responsible for writing and submitting grant applications and reports, so an excellent understanding of the English language and a keen eye for detail are crucial for success within this position. Working to deadlines and line-managing three Fundraising Coordinators, exceptional time-management, prioritisation and organisation skills are essential. With a focus on developing our individual giving strategies, we’re looking for an individual with excellent interpersonal skills. 
 

Qualifications criteria:

· A*-C in maths and English at GCSE (or equivalent experience).
 

· Right to work in the UK.
 

We are looking for some of the following attributes, though you might be more experienced in some areas than others: 
 

· At least two years experience in fundraising (preferably within trusts and foundations fundraising).
 

· Proven track record in securing and stewarding 5+ figure partnerships.
 

· Outstanding written and verbal communicator with significant experience writing and submitting grant applications and reports.
 

You will be likely be more successful in this role if you have:
 

· You have a proven track record of securing and stewarding grants of 5+ figure funding.
 

· You have a passion for educational inequality/working within the Third Sector.
 

· Line management experience.
 

· Experience in event and campaign fundraising.
 

· Experience working within a charity with a turnover of £3M or more.

About Pancreatic Cancer Action:

Pancreatic Cancer Action (PCA) was founded in 2010 by a rare survivor of the disease. We are a small, creative and passionate team committed to improving early diagnosis and saving lives. In August 2020, Pancreatic Cancer Action merged with Pancreatic Cancer Scotland making our team stronger than ever. 

Pancreatic cancer has only a 7% survival rate and this figure has not improved significantly for over 50 years. Despite it being the 5th biggest cancer killer in the UK, pancreatic cancer receives only 3% of overall research funding. 

With a strong focus on early diagnosis, it is Pancreatic Cancer Action’s aim to improve survival rates through raising awareness, medical education, improved patient information and by funding research specifically into the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Simply put, we want more people diagnosed in time for surgery, currently the only potential for a cure.

Main responsibilities:  

• Develop and grow the annual programme of fundraising events such as the London Marathon and Great North Run.
• Grow and steward a pipeline of new and existing community and events audiences and fundraising opportunities with a particular focus on England. Ensuring to always maintain the highest quality supporter journey.
• Manage the delivery of the virtual challenge events. Add insight and support the annual Pancreatic Awareness Month Campaign and help to further develop Pyjama’s for Pan Can to new audiences.
• As a senior member of the Income Generation Team you will contribute to robust financial planning, management and reporting of income and expenditure in your own areas of expertise.
• Responsible for the delivery and recruitment into PCA’s Challenge Events programme making sure participants receive exceptional supporter care.
• Develop compelling and engaging third party fundraising materials to inspire supporters to reach their maximum fundraising targets.
• Contribute to the development of automated and integrated supporter journey and engagement plans with the support of the Head of Income Generation to ensure a consistent and efficient supporter experience.
• Seek out engagement opportunities to support donor acquisition and retention utilising new and existing channels and platforms.
• You will be an excellent relationship manager who can maintain accurate records on our CRM system (Salesforce) to ensure that we develop, engage and update our supporters.
• Work closely with colleagues in Marketing and Communications, to create engaging products and community and event campaigns. Updating the fundraising section of the PCA website and other third party platforms with compelling content and seamless user journeys.
• Be competent at data inputting, IT literate and very organised. Empathy and excellent communication skills are vital in this role and the candidate must be able to collaborate and work well as part of a team.
• Attending when necessary, external events, conferences and exhibitions across the UK and being the face of Pancreatic Cancer Action, acknowledging that some of these may involve overnight stays and weekends.

Income and targets

• Help to grow Pancreatic Cancer Action’s income from community and challenge event fundraisers.
• Develop ongoing stewardship journey for Community/DIY Fundraisers and increase average gift though exceptional supporter care.
• Achieve Financial and non-financial targets and KPI’s from corporate and community fundraising as agreed with the Head of Income Generation.
• Monitor and control allocated fundraising budgets and regularly update the Head of Income Generation.
• Prepare and monitor reporting for all online fundraising platforms to fit with our accounting systems reporting this to the Head of Income Generation monthly.
• Contribute to Pancreatic Cancer Action’s fundraising strategy.

Responsibilities include:

Leadership, Strategy and Governance

• To be an active member of the Made in Hackney Senior Leadership Team, working together to galvanise the organisation behind our strategic plan.
• To contribute to strategic discussions on the future direction of the organisation.
• To participate and / or lead in team meetings as appropriate.
• To act as the lead staff team representative on the Strategy and Fundraising Board Sub-committee, actively contributing and working with Trustees, as well as attending Board meetings.

Fundraising and Development

• To co-design and write grant applications and secure grant funding from Trusts, Foundations or Corporate entities in line with our annual target (likely to be in the range of £400k-£500k).
• To work with the Partnerships Manager to secure Fundraising income from individual givers, major donors, Crowdfunding campaigns and other fundraising initiatives in line with our annual target (likely to be in the range of £200k).
• To develop and execute an annual fundraising strategy: building a sustainable portfolio consisting of grants and donations from individuals, corporates, trusts and foundations, to ensure long-term sustainable funding of activities.
• To research and prospect future funders.
• To maintain precise and up-to-date records on current and potential supporters and prospects.
• To create engaging fundraising communication tools.
• To establish partnerships for joint programmes and funding bids where beneficial.

Donor stewardship & reporting

• To retain current donors and maximise fundraising opportunities, including delivering a programme of appropriate stewardship opportunities with the core team.
• To work with the team to co-design programmes and their evaluation requirements to ensure the organisation meets the grant funders' requirements. 
• To complete reporting to grant funders, including developing report templates, creating reports, case studies, and other administrative requirements. 

Communications

• To input into MIH’S communications strategy and the planning and implementation of improvements to marketing plans, digital presence and social media strategy to ensure impact and fundraising successes are communicated
• To maintain a stock of impact-focused case studies and success stories and ensure fundraising successes are communicated on social media and online.
• To ensure the robust monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and campaigns; providing key input to the annual report and impact report.
• To coordinate fundraising events with the Community Partnerships Manager. 

Line Management

• To have direct line management responsibility for the Community Partnerships Manager and Social Media & Marketing Manager, creating a supportive environment for growth and development.
