The Art School is now seeking a Development and External Relations Manager to drive forward its activities in these areas in accordance with the Art School’s strategy and targets.  A key aspect of the role is nurturing existing and developing new relationships within the Art School’s expanding base of supporters and collaborators, including through the organisation of events.  We are looking for a self-starter with substantial experience of working in a fundraising role in the cultural or similar sector, and who can work on their own initiative as a key member of the Art School’s senior management team.

Overall purpose

Provide strategic financial leadership for Baca and be accountable for the provision of financial and performance information to enable the Leadership Team and the Board to ensure Baca is financially sustainable for the purpose of achieving its vision and mission.

Key Responsibilities

Resource Planning, Budgeting and Reporting

• To direct Baca annual budget setting and longer term strategic financial planning, with robust analysis of income, expenditure, forecasts and cashflow.
• To deliver high quality financial reporting, providing advice and support, in writing and verbally, as required for the Leadership Team, the Finance and Fundraising sub-group and the Board of Trustees.
• To ensure budget holders receive up to date timely and accurate management accounts and information in order to maintain day to day control of the expenditure budget.

Financial Systems, Control and Accounting

• To lead the preparation of the organisation’s accounts for audit in accordance with current accounting good practice and Charity Commission’s Standards of Recommended Practice (SORP), liaising with the auditors and present the final accounts to the Finance and Fundraising sub-group and Board for approval.

• To implement, oversee and review Baca’s systems of financial risk management and controls assurance.
• To ensure the purchasing system operates effectively, ensuring sufficient supplies and services by working closely with the Operations Director.

The Project Manager will be a key member of the Charity and will play a significant part in developing and delivering the Life Chances Programme to our beneficiaries. The post holder will work closely with the CEO and is able to draw on support from the Admin Support Officer.

The Project Manager will support the success of the Charity’s core operations, the development and delivery of the Life Chances Programme, the lifecycle of projects and financial management from securing funding to reporting impact by ensuring the effective development and management of project opportunities, proposals, funding and finances, planning, delivery, evaluation and reporting.

Main duties and responsibilities

Project Management

· Develop, plan, manage, evaluate and report on diverse and inter-related externally funded and non-funded projects.

The Helen Bamber Foundation is a human rights organisation with an international reputation for providing medical consultation, therapeutic care, legal protection, and practical support to survivors of trafficking and torture.  We are a team of therapists, doctors, lawyers, caseworkers and administrators who help men, women and children recover from the emotional and physical damage they have suffered because of torture, human trafficking, or other forms of cruelty.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE 

As  Psychotherapist within the Helen Bamber Foundation, you will work alongside our current Senior Psychotherapist and be responsible for supporting the Head of Therapies and the Team Manager in providing a comprehensive range of therapeutic interventions to clients of the Helen Bamber Foundation.

In addition to providing psychotherapy, stabilization, psychoeducation, and trauma focused therapy, this role will include delivery of psychological assessments for both medico-legal and clinical purposes, as well as delivery of clinical supervision to staff from non-clinical backgrounds who nonetheless have significant client contact, and supervision of assistant psychologists. As you develop in the role you will also have opportunities to contribute to the on-going development of the service and at times, the role may include input into policy, research and fundraising and delivery of consultancy and training. 

We are looking for someone who is committed to working therapeutically with individuals who have experienced human rights abuses and who have developed trauma spectrum disorders as a result. The successful applicant will ideally have proven experience in working therapeutically with this client group, have a passion for human rights work beyond the individual client work, and a desire to contribute to effecting change at a policy level.  This role requires the ability to be with the complex and sometimes harrowing details of a client’s experience, and to react and respond creatively and appropriately to their needs.Additionally, you will be knowledgeable and experienced in consultation and assessment including risk management, and have competence, or a commitment to receiving training, in at least one model of trauma therapy such as NET or EMDR.

Centre for London is London’s independent think tank, and a registered charity. As Research Director, you will lead Centre for London’s research team, developing new solutions to London’s critical challenges, securing funding for our work, preparing, publishing and promoting reports, supporting public events, and communicating our work to stakeholders and policymakers. 

As a member of the senior leadership team, you will help develop and implement the organisational strategy; contribute to the development, fundraising and delivery of events and other projects; and promote the ideas of the organisation to build its influence in existing and new public and private arenas. 

The recommendations of your team will make a difference to policy and practice – tackling issues such as housing, poverty and inequality, employment and skills, transport and the public realm, the climate and nature crises, community resilience, and London’s place in the UK and the world. You will be line– managed by the CEO and work closely with the External Affairs and Development teams.

This role would best suit someone with significant experience leading policy research programmes – in a think tank, consultancy, central or local government, academia or similar. You will have a strong understanding of policy in London and the UK, project management skills, and be able to credibly communicate complex ideas to different audiences – in meetings, in writing, through blogs and articles, and in speeches. You will have strong analytical skills, including a track record of qualitative and quantitative research. You will have experience in fundraising, will have managed budgets, and will be confident working with researchers at different stages in their careers. However, we are less interested in what you have done, and more in what you can do.

This is ideally a full-time role; however, flexible working is embedded within our culture. We now seek to appoint a new Head of Philanthropy as a key member of the Development Team. Working closely with the Director of Development, President and wider Fellowship, the Head of Philanthropy will manage major gift prospect activity and raise funds to support the strategic objectives of the College. The Head of Philanthropy will manage and develop a portfolio of relationships and undertake prospect and donor visits, to ask alumnae and others for philanthropic support the College. Reporting directly to the Director of Development, the Head of Philanthropy will be responsible for managing the Philanthropy Officer.

The Head of Philanthropy will make a major contribution to this vision by securing long-term philanthropic support.

Main Responsibilities:

• Operational responsibility for delivering agreed Philanthropy financial targets and the implementation of fundraising solicitation plans

• Co-ordination of relationships with 60 – 70 major gift prospects – to include individuals, trusts, foundations, and corporates – through: identification, research, creating solicitation plans and monitoring and developing those plans; making personal visits to ask alumnae (and others) to support the College financially

• Liaising with and involving the Director of Development, President, and Fellowship as appropriate, as regards the research into, planning for and involvement of potential benefactors to the College

• Acting effectively as one of the three senior leaders in the Development team, providing support to the Director of Development and actively contributing in strategy development and planning

• Managing the Development Officer so that they are confident and effective in their role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience in shaping policy and the ability to communicate the position of the MS Society in Northern Ireland and develop its profile to a wide range of audiences.

You’ll also act as a spokesperson for the MS Society in Northern Ireland and play an important role in developing our strategic approach to supporting people affected by MS. Helping us to ensure that our priorities align with the needs and aspirations of the MS community.

We’re looking for the successful candidate to be able to demonstrate that they understand the challenges that people with MS face. You’ll be mobilising the MS community in Northern Ireland to make a powerful case for continued improvement in the treatment, care and support of people living with MS.

GFS is a feminist organisation with a mission to empower girls and young women in England and Wales to live their best lives. Girls as young as 6 tell us that they cannot be themselves. This causes problems for them and society. So, we offer an early intervention service for girls living in areas of deprivation to have the greatest impact.

This is an exciting role with an opportunity to lead the charity into the 150th Year of delivery and with a new strategy to address need. It will involve working with the leadership team and all departments but also the board and their support committees, the ambassadors, and presidents as well as the wonderful team of volunteers across England and Wales.

A great deal has been done to prepare the organisation for such an important time and so now there is a real opportunity for this role to lead in being a figurehead for the charity and representing all that is achieved at GFS in national events and discussions, to best represent the girls of today.

Our new strategy is built around pillars of Impact, Brand and Sustainability with an ambition to grow in delivery as well as reputation. GFS is aware that the work done to listen to and amplify girls’ voices is important because they have so much to say about what needs to change and from a very young age. This role will be key to making this happen.
